That is a very interesting debate currently in the industry. The act you're referring to is in the US, in Canada, there is already legislation that doesn't allow for discrimination etc. The current Federal government has proposed changes to "blind bidding" processes as well, which would be likely aggressively fought by real estate and legal industries. As forcing parties to all know what the other was paying doesn't seem like a fair process or solution at all, and would likely create a whole new set of problems. Our belief is it can be part of a seller's decision on the background of a buyer to decide between offers. What they do for a living, how long for, etc etc. all factor in to the overall strength of an offer. Similar questions to what a lender would ask. However any reference to discriminatory elements should be removed like age, race, sexual orientation or family makeup etc. Part of working with a professional REALTOR® is them advising and being the third party negotiator for you on both sides. A Buyer's agent wants to sell the emotional side to the seller, in best hopes to convince them to accept their buyer's offer. A good sellers agent helps take the emotion out of the equation so that a seller can make the best decision on the elements of the offer and the strength of the overall offer, not the people themselves.
@@RealEstateAgentTraining Thanks! We're actually in the process of selling our place and are having our realtor strip any personal letter etc. when presenting offers to us. We want to remove all emotional aspects and choose the offer that nets us the highest profit.
Thank you
