  • In this video we cover how to get the Elektron Digitone Keys (or Digitone) and Digitakt routed within Ableton Live using Overbridge to record all 12 of the individual outs of both machines as well as the stereo FX output for a total of 14 tracks streaming over USB.
    You can also do this with the Elektron Analog Four, Analog RYTM, Analog Keys, and Analog Heat.
    Here's more information about how to get the Overbridge VSTs loaded into Ableton Live:

    Mac: help.ableton.c....

    This might cause some confusion because 2 days after this video came out, Elektron released firmware updates for both Digitakt and Digitone where the Audio Routing options for USB Audio were moved to SETTINGS > AUDIO ROUTING menu

    Extremely helpful video. Is it possible to route the audio from the novation peak into the Digitone inputs and create a separate track for it on Ableton? That way even the Peak can be routed into the Digitone and would essentially have no need for an audio interface? New to all of this!

    • @ElektronVideoKlub
      @ElektronVideoKlub  4 роки тому +4

      Yes you can route an external instrument's inputs (Peak) into Digitone and have Overbridge send audio to your DAW. Digitone can send all 4 stereo tracks and the stereo inputs via Overbridge.

    6:00 - It's not "post-fx" as in post fx from the digitone's effects. It's post fx within Ableton if you happened to have effects on the Ableton Overbridge track you're using. Choosing "Post FX" at 6:10 does nothing in terms of wet/dry from the output of the Digitone.

    I can't find meaning in using boxes and then using ableton. Why not just do everything in ableton. What makes electron editing better than ableton? Editing in the box is limited in all directions so I don't understand why? if everbridge transmitted everything 1: 1 even with the effects for the given channel then I understand that but if it transmits a dry signal then it is easier to do everything in daw. I only work cleanly with Eboxes. That's why I'd be interested. thanks

  • @bentropy
    @bentropy Рік тому

    Thanks for this helpful video! I'm trying to understand how to have the tracks be in sync with Ableton's clock so that I don't have to edit/warp each individual track after recording. I want to have my tracks recording be in sync with Ableton's timeline, more automatically, in other words? Is this not possible?
    I'm using the Analog Keys, but I figure this should be more or less the same. Ableton is suggesting, via a dialog box that opens when you open the Overbridge plugin in Ableton, that you sync your device to Ableton via OB. I'm having latency issues and I think the solution might involve setting "latency delay compensation" amounts in Ableton? But I'm not sure if this is correct or how exactly to do this.
    thanks!

    • @bentropy
      @bentropy Рік тому

      Nevermind! I realized i needed to assign individual track inputs from the Analog Keys plugin track, not the device tracks. That put things much more in sync, but weirdly now the AK tracks are coming in a few ms ahead, in Ableton. (maybe over-compensation by Ableton?)

I have a similar setup of DT/DN/Peak, and my Peak will be a little bit offset from the recorded Overbridge tracks. I am sure it is just due to more Digital/Audio conversions, but any help would be appreciated!

    • @0scill8r

      I would just rely on the digitone as an interface, it allows you to capture all the tracks through usb. If you wanted to get an interface for running the digitone through you’d need more inputs, like 8-10 depending on if you want the master as well.

      Latency will always be a factor that you will have to compensate for with any hardware to software communication: ua-cam.com/video/91bzrEo7B2U/v-deo.html
      Try using USB on both devices, and try using USB on Digitakt and MIDI from Digitakt to Peak.

    • @ElektronVideoKlub
      @ElektronVideoKlub  4 роки тому +1

      The idea here is you can record the FX track and the dry track without FX and then it is up to you to decide where to take it from there. So if you like the FX track in your project, keep it. But if for instance you had too much or not enough delay effect or you wanted to process the dry track with a different FX chain, you have the option in your session. It's really a matter of personal preference, but Overbridge makes it easy to have the option for processed tracks or dry tracks.
