Zeus' Revenge on Humanity - Pandora's box Zeus creates a cunning plot to restore the balance that Prometheus upset when he gave fire to humans. This tale is told by Zeus himself, as he weaves a web that will be humanities undoing. For this plot, Pandora is made. She tells her tale from her perspective, and what could have led her to opening the infamous box of legend. Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them. This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience. All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos. There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries. These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays. Do you think the "fire" is the pendant to the apple of knowledge in the Bible? I often also like to find traces of the older Sumerian texts and myths in Greek mythos. This episode is indeed present in Sumerian myth but quite different, as both the first made "a-damu" and his female counterpart ( made from his genes btw) were already born and residing in the "eden" or as I call it, the garden of the genetic lab where they were created. I think Enki is the source for Prometeus
This must cost so much effort to get it as perfect as you do every time. Nail on the head again guys. I might do the old Titanomachy marathon again tonight, LOVE IT!!!
Thank you so much - I did put a little more elbow grease into this one so it’s lovely you took note! Makes it all worth it ! We’re glad you enjoyed it ! Thank you! - lightbringer
That's understandable as some versions of Greek mythology, for example Hesiod, decree that Pandora is the very first woman, and all women stem from her. But he also wrote that ''Zeus who thunders on high made women to be an evil to mortal men, with a nature to do evil.'' - which is around line 560 in his theogony, it felt kind of horrible to go with this version of events. For it makes Pandora, and therefore all women inherently evil. Pandora here, is just one woman. Like some of the other versions of this myth. As Dionysus is born of a mortal woman he is often placed before the punishment. However, it is Dionysus who brings Hephaestus back to Olympus - and it is Hephaestus who makes the original clay form of Pandora. There are far more references to Dionysus bringing Hephaestus home, it is a far more famous image. Seen in all sorts of ancient greek art works. Unfortunately, sometimes making a chronology of myths that had multiple versions of events, or numerous myths with no solid agreed upon canon, can become entirely contradictory. And choices must be made. We hope you enjoyed none the less! I hope this explains things a bit too. - Lightbringer
@@livingmythology1405 Yeah, I guess there really is no good chronology in mythology... Probably what they get for slicing Kronos to pieces, literally shattering the titan god of time.
