The person who questions arundhati, says PM of India is a Sikh so India is a free and democratic society. Arundhati did not tackle that aspect but I will, what has this Sikh PM done for the sikh women who were gang raped in broad daylight in front of their sons with police cheering the rapers. Manmohan Singh was made PM bcos he is a puppet, he was made PM when has never won a Lok Sabha election in order to show a Sikh is with the government whose earlier leader and PM of India Rajiv Gandhi said about the rape of sikh women that "when a big tree falls earth shakes"

Roy's comparison of the Jan Lokpal Bill with the Maoists: claiming both sought "the overthrow of the Indian State" met with resentment from members of Team Anna; Medha Patkar reacted sharply calling Roy's comments "highly misplaced" and chose to emphasise the "peaceful, non-violent" nature of the movement

Slapping someone with intelligence is what Arundhati Roy just demonstrated. Loving one's country does not mean being silent about the burning issues but being vocal about it. Otherwise it seems like a mother who is silent about her child's misdeeds only to realize it has grown up into a monster someday. One require some wisdom to understand what Arundhati talked about.

People are mistaken here if they believe she is just against india. Basically she is from a communist ideology, her whole family is and she is against anything that has anything to with industrialization, capitalism etc. She doesn't have the guts to say communism or socialism is the answer to it because she clearly knows it has not worked and the utopia they dream of are nowhere to be found. So all she has to do is criticize this and criticize that without having the need to say of any other alternative. I mean there are so many flaws in democracy as well but it is the best of all available options that we have but she would rather write a 15 page article on why democracy is bad and crap like that without telling of any other alternative as such.

Firstly, they did not allow the man to speak and tried to cut him off though he had legitimate questions and points albeit not well presented. Arundhati's answers were vague, winding and did not address the questions. And the crowd was uncouth - asking the man to "shut up". Ridiculous. To me it is this audience that is right-wing.

Bajrangi is so-called 'punished', but what about Modi? Instead, ppl are pitching him for PM? If this is democracy, it is ridiculous!

Kapil Ojha I am not a Modi fan myself. If it can be proved that he is also responsible, he should be put behind bars. But, I hold the honorable supreme court of India with utmost respect and authority, and Modi has been given a clean chit by the court. So who are we to judge? The only information we know comes through media. You sure all what they say is correct? Talk about blind faith!

The problem is that people come with so many presuppositions about the person and his/her objectives that they can't really see through that hate.
Hate the right things and you have humanity's worst enemy. Love the wrong things and you have the greatest human tragedy.

What happened with Muslims in Kashmir and Gujarat, its fully wrong and condemnable with all means ! But what about Kashmiri pundits, what's happening with them from last more than 20 years, what about Sikh families in Kashmir, What's happening in Jammu&Kashmir on the name of Islamic state,in Godhra how Hindus were burnt, how Muzaffarnagar riots begin etc. My point is she should be straight and equal with her critics towards all the side of Truth & reality ! Without a doubt she is good journalist, but needs bit more of whole insight to see & understand the ground reality and scenario.

india is a big country..lots of injustice are happening..there are politicians who are not good enough .with humanity and integrity questionable..there are lot to improve in india !!! every true indian dreams of a better india..when true democracy prevail..justice for all..but i am against armed struggle..yes there may be justifications...but people like arundati roy should become their leader and educate them and help them...lead them.instead of putting ur own home land under fire !!!

We are really bad at taking criticism. Those people in the room are not india haters. They wouldn't be there watching if they were so. Disliking Hindu fundamentalism does not imply that one dislikes Hinduism. In the states you'll find a large population that criticizes and spoofs America and it's politics and religion all the time. These people don't hate the country, they probably love and care for it as more than anyone else. If anything - how many urban Indians will you find who go in to rural india and fight for the rights of those who have no voice. She perhaps knows india more than many of us do. For the record I'm quite happy about India's Hindu heritage and being indian, all the same I am critical of Hindu fundamentalism, which unfortunately does exist as It does win every religion. Hinduism is much better then others, but I fear that it is not going in the right direction.

SHE LOVE INDIA,LIKE THAT,In an interview with the Times of India published in August 2008, Arundhati Roy expressed her support for the independence of Kashmir from India after massive demonstrations in favour of independence took place-some 500,000 separatists rallied in Srinagar in the Kashmir part of Jammu and Kashmir state of India for independence on 18 August 2008, following the Amarnath land transfer controversy.According to her, the rallies were a sign that MUSLIMS desire secession from India, and not union with India.

What is she talking about? Let this comment be published and some one tell me her views on the displaced population of Kashmiri Pandits. The situation of the Govt funding Minority institutions. Article 370. Uniform Civil Code. As a communist who wants equality for all, she must answer these questions as to what is her position on these issues. Muslims died in Gujarat because some of them burnt a train. Shit happened. No point in citing that and calling India a Hindu state.

India is one of the most beautiful countries. But politicians damaging our beloved country and dividing based on caste and religion. I am dreaming of a Hindustan where people love each other and hatred is not our primary emotion. I don't mind who becomes PM of India until and unless he/she works for unity of the country. I am afraid whether a person like Modi can do this who is a sponsor of mass killing. Many congress states we had more communal violence, but the thing is no CM has ever supported the violence in public. Gujarat riot was criticized because of the the government supported the agitators and supported violence.

Hard to tell what the guy's question actually was - he seemed to only want to create a straw man, and then he wouldn't shut up to hear the response.
A logical and calm answer to a loaded "question".

Ms Roy u love india because u are not poor, the poor in india want to live a better life, but people like u are stopping india from developing, your views on Kashmir are anti national and biased.you forget the rights of Sikhs and Hindu pandits of Kashmir who have been subject of ethnic cleansing by Muslims.kashmir was never part of Pakistan, it was an independent state after partition but Pakistan tried to invade it and failed. Your views are one sided and biased and intellectually bankrupt

It takes egoless courage to speak the truth as Arundhati Roy does. I feel sorry for the morons who don't have the courage or mental capacity to face the truth and grow. By willing to cover-up the pathology of Indian culture these so called Indians are damaging India, keeping it from improving. From this perspective Arundhati Roy loves India for she wants it to improve, shine and be truly great.

Ms Roy, u forget the riots were in response to burning alive of Hindus in godhra train by Muslims. Also, teesta has committed perjury by saying women were raped etc that was all unfounded. We can do without persons like you who give one sided view of everything and harp on about rapes that never happened

Bringing down India in front of foreign journalist doesn't make you great Arundhati. People like you try to polarize the innocent people of this country and seem to be a part of some stupid movement. Trust me the literature which you write about us does not even make sense to a common man of India. I would request you to stop being a sycophant and accept the reality that India is better than US when you talk about a corporate state. If you have even a small regard left for your family and the people of India you would not talk such nonsense in front of a foreign press.
