Arundhati speaks and you know that each thought she expresses, and that each word shes uses to form a sentence, is deeply reflected and measured. She un-complicates the world a little. That alone is a magic and service we can not easily repay.

Remarkably present in this interview with a young POC American intellectual. So much of what she is talking about in India is pertinent (even a year later) to the rest of the world, let alone the USA. The legacy of colonialism is harsh & deep. The India she is fighting for is a just society that may never have required a partition of the subcontinent. For her the fight for global awareness & justice begins in India. For each of is it must begin where we are.

Arundatti is an American Christian paid puppet I would not believe a word she says. Firstly There is no mention of caste system anywhere in the vedas. The word caste comes from portuguese and spanish language, the word was first used in 1569. In 1628 many foriegn came to India with intention to colonize India, including British, Dutch, Portuguese, sedish, french, danish. The caste was used by the portuguese to divide Indians, the British also learned from the portuguese and used the caste (the same word from portuguese language as it is to divide Indians, if any one who has read vedas or manusmriti and can find me this word caste from vedas of hindu scriptures I challenge him or her to prove me wrong. Please do not let anyone tell you or convince you that caste is from hindu religion because it is not. I have no interest in the politics of west, congress, leftists and hindu haters, but I dont want you to become a victim of fake propaganda which was set into motion by those with ulterior motives. The British wanted to divide hindus and with intention to confuse and covert the hindus into christianity and so apx in the 17th century the British hired germans like max muller and thoman babson maculay to study sanskrit and hindu culture and make false translations of the vedas which are the basis of all the fake narratives of the Sanatan vedas which are still used by the christians/western institutions and certain hindu haters/ leftists/ communists in India and west as evidence. These fake narartives still used in the west to demonize hindus culture and religion. thoman babson maculay advised the uk parliament that if you want to rule India you must first destry its education system and its culture, and this is exactly what the British did by dividing Indians based on western narrative of caste system and by removing sanskrit from the education system. Did you know that India was the richest nation in the world until islamic invasions came to India then followed by British imperial rule. The british completely crippled India and its industries and the Gurukuls in a bid to destroy Bharat and make them dependent on the west. But I ask you those who call yourself a Hindu, do you even know that there is no such word such as hinduism in the bhagwad gita or vedas. Then why does the Hindu calls him self Hindu if there is no such word in our bhgawad gita or vedas this is due to systematic erosion of sanatan dharma by the islamic and christian invaders. The immpact of Muslim rule in India was so profound that only those hindus who paid Jizya tax (tax that is imposed by Muslim ruler to non Muslims till they agree to convert into Islam) as per Islam survived atrocities during Muslim rule. Rest all are killed or converted on swords. The fear among hindus was so much that during the 800 years of Islamic rule in India and the persecution of Hindus was similar to how ISIS treated yazidi girls in Iraq today in the 20th century, hence mothers stopped teaching their children sanatan dharma in fear that they will be kidnapped or targetted which then lead to dilussions and super stitions and misunderstanding about our sanatan dharma. Those who wanted to avoid the persecution had to convert to Islam or those who wanted better status or positions in the Islamic courtships had to convert to Islam. It was these Islamic invaders who came to Bharat who called us Hindus or kafirs, and this is why eventually we regonized ourselves by the name given to us by these very invaders. Hence the would hindu comes from persian and arabs not from our own culture. When the British came they finally hit the nail on the sanatan dharma. They sucked the entire wealth of Indians by high taxes which often led to starvation of farmers. They used the same practices as used by Islamic invaders but in more sophiticated ways. Until the British arrived in India there was no caste word used in Bharat. There is no such word as Caste (or Jati) in the bhagwad gita and vedas, infact it is unfortunate that 1000+ years foriegn rule in India has eroded the true vedic dharma. The level of corruption of our dharmic relgion is so much by the enemy that we dont even know the truth about our own origins and we dont even know that there is no such word such as hindu in our dharma. So why do we call ourselves as Hindu and what is the source of this word Hindu. And what is truth behind the word caste and caste system. Would you like to know the truth or you just like to continue believe in the lies taught to you till date. Unless we understand these basic truths there you will not understand the roots of this divide and rule conspiracy of our enemies who peddled lies for 300 years. It is true that those associated with the British education system did adopt the caste system but post the arrival of the British. The British on purpose removed sanskrit from the education system upon the advise of their advisers similar like Thomas babson Maculay and introduced Persian instead. And goverment jobs would only be given to those who knew English and persian, so this is how the British tried to kill sanskrit and after a while the majority population stopped going to gurukuls as this was not giving them jobs. So eventually slowly over a century nobody could read the vedas anymore then the british could tell you any lies you would believe them and not challenge their books as you could never verify their lies as you stopped learning sanskrit. In contrast they translated all our vedic books and the west used the knowledge from vedic books to inspire/ motivate western inventions and discoveries, just like it inspired the creator of atom bomb, Robert Oppenheimer. Similarly there are many other discoveries in the west stolen or inpired from the vedas. During the vedic days the Indian population was by in largely peasants and farmers so when enemies came to scout bharat before invasions, what they normally did is sent spiritual saints and preachers of Islam and christianity origin to confuse those who had not read the vedas or did not study the sanatan dharma closely. They would not at first directly convert them to Islam or chrsitianity they would first weaken their knowledge of hinduism, then once they are confused it was easier to convert such individuals who are confused and not well read. The British and portuguese merely had to mistranslate the vedas to muddy the water but the same christians will not tell you that how much hatred is mentioned in bible verses. When you speak about the hatred in bible they will deny even these verses. So the these christians who mistranslated the vedas were intolerant people whose primary objective was to create a platform to disgust the hindus so that it is easy to convert them to christianity. The shudra is someone who is low wisdown, a brahmin is someone who has spent years to learn the vedas and achived high level of wistom, a shatriya is some who has trained for years to achieve certain level of martial expertise, mean while a vashya is someone who is trained thru experience in the art of business. This is similar to what the western education is doing these days they impart education to you and once you get bachelors or masters degree you can get better jobs elevating your status in society. Once I repeat there is no mention of caste in the vedas this is a foriegn word and there is no mention of the word hind this too is a foriegn word, there is no mention of jati in our sanatan scriptures like bhagwad gita and vedas, all these are foriegn words. What is mentioned in the vedas is Verna and this is primarily to do with occupation based on the training and wisdom. Many people will misguide you that caste is by birth and you cannot change this, once again this is lies and fake narrative of those who want to musguide your faith in sanatan dharma. There are only 4 verna's and they are bhahmin, kshartriya, shudra and vashiya. It is not correct that we are born as brahmin or kshatriya, we are all born as shudras then we elevate our status by education and training just like the western education does using college education or politechique practical training. Anyone born to shudra can become a brahmin by study of the vedas and gaining wisdom, just like anyone can get master and phd degree and become a CEO or become a subject matter expert in the western sense. So you see verna was never caste and everyone is born a shudra till he becomes an expert by skill or knowledge. There are several examples of this in history that a persons born to a shudra or lower caste has been called a brahmin or sadguru when he wrote Ramayan or expressed expertise on certain subjects. Brahmin or Sadguru is a teacher who helps your fine tune your skills in the field of warfare, spritualism, vedic knowledge, astromnomy and similar. So a brahimin is merely your learned guide not your master as depicted in the western/christian translations. Infact in our vedic ashrams or gurukuls there was no differences between child of poor or child of king, all of them were sent in the ashram of sages to live after the age of apx 12 years. Here the sons of kings even lived together as fellow students sharing the same rooms of ashram or gurukul as the poor. Just like in western style boarding schools and universities.

This is so profound. Her comparison between the freedom in a book and the over powering nature of a film, hope and joy in the face of brutality and hopelessness. People of her calibre are so much in need both inside and outside India.
When she mentioned Hazrat Sarmad Shrine in the JAMA Masjid, and later telling the beauty of that idea, people have the liberty to imagine own story, this point of interview reminded me the song "The night we met, by Lord Huron" we all like that song so much because we as a audience have the room to imagine our own story along that song. What an opening statement from Roy in the introduction! I can feel her profoundness. You shouldn't judge her based on the accolades or prizes she has received. Just show some empathy for how dreadful and painful her journey has been. I can empathize with her because I too have been raised in a similar sort of world-the truly uglier side of the subcontinent and its ruins. It's very hard to speak up for the truth over here. Arundhati Roy is indeed a significant figure, known for her literary achievements as well as her activism. Her novel "The God of Small Things" catapulted her to international fame, earning her the prestigious Booker Prize in 1997. yes. I felt highly appreciative of Arundhati, and also wondering who is the interviewer for her calm respect and attention.
She is truly a gem of a person and an author. Her humbleness is admirable besides so many other qualities. Love her simple ways of explaining things. Thank you for this interview.
Is the interviewer on any social media platform? She conducted this interview with so much maturity & respect
I need to follow her as well!
@@ayandamokwana You won’t regret it sisi
I stand with Arundhati roy
This is so profound. Her comparison between the freedom in a book and the over powering nature of a film, hope and joy in the face of brutality and hopelessness. People of her calibre are so much in need both inside and outside India.
We are soo proud of you Arundhati! Rare rare breed..
Aahhhh beautiful ♥️
Undoubtedly Arundhati ma'am is my all time favourite not because we twin our names or that I belong from the literature background or that I post graduated in English literature, but her authenticity, audacity towards life & the ... 🤍✨She's incredible. 🌻
Life and the world***
It's such a beauty to see two minds reflect and ponder. When there is silence from the storming chaos of the world, minds and their energies speak very loudly. This interview essayed such a feeling for me. Thank you.
Live long, Arundhati Roy.
Leave Islam, praise humanity.
Her essays work alone warrant a Nobel prize for Literature.

Love her "militant laugh" speaking as peasant female Greek Cypriot
I'm watching this sitting in Protaras Cyprus
She has put it so beautifully that one should value independence more than wealth or fame ❤
A. Roy is a candle in pitch darkness
she is refreshing breeze in toxic environment
she is a true humanist among oppressors

wow beautiful video, love Arundhati Roy, specially her message in teh end, that to find love and hope in most hopeless situation and she goes on,. love her being so true and honest ,creative genius
What an inspirational wãhine... now I must read The God of Small Things 😇
You show us the mirror that we do need to see sometimes in our quest for wealth.
Every word struck line a nail to my heart ❤️
This was beautiful. This is beautiful. Also, the current change of scenario in India (in 2024) is the result of not losing hope, and resistance. Certainly.
She is one of the brightest lights on this earth.
She is an angel. To all those who speak against her, i am a devil when i need to be. So stay silent, when you know nothing.
Oh u know everything...just go and see the speech where she says kashmir is not the integral part of india thn explain it to me too
Just search the jnu speech please brother and let me know....
@@harshsaraswat6254 she is right. Kashmir was never integral part of India. Promises of a referendum allowing Kashmiris to decide the territory's fate, made by then Indian prime minister Nehru in 1947,have been buried and replaced by a new narrative that "Kashmir is an integral part of India.. You must know history of Kashmir. Independent.
Arundhati Roy is a Hero. A lady of humane character. Very knowledgeable. A patriot. We must admire her.
Angel 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
She's a dumb as*
Thank you so much for sharing this!
You are so welcome!
Such an inspirational, brilliant and intellectual woman. The pride of India.
Can we just remark on how beautiful the interviewer’s questions were? Thank you!
Bless her❤
A writer is someone who is very sensitive to pain, shorrows, happiness no matter whose, so i totally agree with Roy when she says the situation of india is anything but peaceful for writer to write because how can they, when they see and hear all the mishaps going around in name of religion. The threat to one's right to expression has never been this severe. You might be jailed for a slight comment which the government thinks is threatening for them. It's dark days we live in, but we shall live and fight and speak till we are free
She is a gem!
@india🇮🇳 She is a Gem for Anti-Indians and majority of the Muslims of course..
Adam seeker and Sahil check on UA-cam.. now whole life do difa..
no she isn't
She is the one who said kashmir is not part of india

Should be getout off India
I love listening you again and again you are someone in me i feel
I respect your knowledge
Remarkable interviewer. Might have been recorded afterwards. Somehow the lighting and difference in chairs do not make sense, not that it deflects from the outstanding quality of the interview.
One of my favorite books, The Ministry of Utmost Happiness. I have given copies as presents. India’s Modi and our trump in USA same. I remember Gujarat.
Like an arrow clear and precise - you must value your independence over fame - very meaningful conversation. Thanks hou cm
Thank you Storytellers studio*

A very insightful interview 👏
Love both the writer and the interviewer.
You are simply out of this world! You are such an inspiration to all civil activists across the world who rise against tyranny! Long live Ms. Roy!
ACTIVISM is a form of ESCAPISM.......fight
So much respect for this woman
My Hera! Great interview, thank you! xo
Arundhati Roy is indeed a significant figure, known for her literary achievements as well as her activism. Her novel "The God of Small Things" catapulted her to international fame, earning her the prestigious Booker Prize in 1997. Beyond her literary pursuits, Roy is also recognized for her outspoken advocacy on various social and political issues, making her a notable figure not only in India but also on the global stage. Her writings and activism have made a significant impact on discussions surrounding human rights, environmental justice, and social inequality.
yeh lets praise the whitemans colonised coolie !
She's so humble and sweet and intelligent!
"A film makes a book into one thing, where actually every reader has a film in their head." Thank you Roy.
Get a l.i.f.e
Go read what all she said abt hin..
Travelled many a time through Aymanam, Arundathi Roy and the other person is Dr P. R Kumar, after a heavy drinking bout, I travelled with Dr Kumar to his resort at Aymanam at midnight, with a packet of karimeen, and he said a lot of story, sorry to say Dr Kumar passed away another star other than Arundathi Roy, Dr Kumar will remain unforgoten in the years to come.

She speaks like Indira Gandhi. Both her voice and accent…
Very interesting topic was discussed.
Arunaditi Roy is great lady ❤
congrats to the interviewer, pretty and smart🥰
Please read her books both 'God of Small Things '
'The Ministry of Utmost Happiness ' & her essays..
She is special human being, much more than writer..Puts to shame Journalists of the MSM of USA UK EU Nations India, Pakistan,Apartheid State of Exclusive Chosen Jews,
Forgot to admit that, as an architecture student I had a really bad crush on her..lol..and that too from across the border..in Pakistan.
Thank you!
Woe what a human..❤
And now, alas, she is also being persecuted by the government (see coverage in The Guardian, and elsewhere).
Great great intellectual! Brilliant soul and a wonderful women power
Most respectable woman across India....always respected ...love u ...best author
Hello, Zinni.
Love you a lot.
I read you over Ambedkarnama,

Arundhati Roy is a symbol of the idea of India.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She and Ashis Nandy embody an intellectuality that has sadly gone completely missing in today's India ! They are the voices we need to come out of our great nation.
Awesome.
She is the conscience keeper of our time
I love arundhati Roy she's my loving author I love to read her novel handwriting what are intellectual mind she has
Arundhati Roy being known as one of the best Indian writers is such a sad testament to the quality of writing coming from India. It is a collective shame of 1.4 Billion people that all we could produce is the likes of her. I don't care about her politics but he writing is bottom barrel garbage.
Love, love, love!
Nothing but love!
My favorite author and political activist......
She is so talented ❤
"Arundhati Ji, Medha Patkar Ji, Nandita Das Ji.....are few of those actors-activists group....I don't know much about works of...but just because they associated themselves with something really REAL.....inspire me...!" "Ahhaaa!" "Exactly, ye toh pata nhi why Bachi Karkaria Ji might comment on them, but their is something so strong about strong women, in activism...." "Ahaaa!" "I know...dekho jahan duniya chalti hai, dekhti hai...woh dekhna padta hai!!" "H aha ha" :D _/I\_
Roy is a cousin of prominent media personality Prannoy Roy, former head of the Indian television media group NDTV.
Truly a great inspirational soul. True to herself. Difficult to find her equal.
Amazing woman
More power to you,Arundhati 👍
What a woman of Subtance.
The BEST
She has proved that pen is mightier than the sword.she expresses her views, right or wrong, cahdidly, with utmost spontaneity. Then it becomes a revolution of ideas.
Amazing, she is phenomenal.
She narrates world troubles in an intriguing manner and likes her delinquent way
I don't know if she's aware of sociology theories. But her work comes close to pragmatism or symbolic interactionism. She studied the architecture where I did mine. Shrine she talked about in ministry of utmost happiness is situated very close to the arch school
R u kayasth?
I love Roy

yes she writes in india about india but gives and explains her points in a foreign country perhaps media in india do not have the deep sense of thought to understand her opinions

Absolutely, too many crude people in india, soaked on superstition and fallacious religion.

What are her thoughts on the Dalit, and racism against Africans around the world?
😮 the way she manifested that turning her book into film would colonise its vulnerability 🎉
She is just beautiful
The idea that in a world...In a capitalist world... Your art form are so dependent on what capital you have access to...
I may not agree with her views about India. Still voice of dissent should have a place in my country, India.
Her views on India are accurate. Especially with the rule we are all under in recent years. Racism, Islam phobia
@@Martty_4 You talk about Islamophobia. In southern state Kerala, Christian and Hindu girls are trapped in love jihad and some ended up in Syria. PFI activisits chopped off hands of a Christian professor in Kerala. For me as a Christian, Muslims also are not innocent. I thank God, India is not an islamic country. Then you cannot even talk of any dissent. Look at Pakistan and Iran!
