I think great idea to do a video on 'myths' I'm sure it will become a hot topic of source, with some. I've noticed ppl like a good debate! Personally, if it works for you... thats good enough for me. I for one love learning and probably, always will. I hope you and camera lady always have the passion and enthusiasm that clearly comes across on screen 🎥😊

As a lovely Pink Toe Goliath, she needs a strong name. Lady Avi. She is going to be a show stopper, when she gets some size to her. She is so fluffy. She's fancy. I hope she's a good Mom and she gives you lots of babies. Peace.

Avic's and Caribeana are truly a beginner species for arboreal T species. They are delicate as slings. Once established as a juvenile they are a bit hardier. It truly is a learning curve. I had five, now I have 3. I lost one in the 4th instar due to it shedding it's mouth parts. I did lose a Juvi due to bad husbandry. I had it too dry and it got stuck in it's molt. I have adjusted my husbandry and I am a little more diligent with them. Hydration is key with them, so I have found. I fill their water dishes once a week and keep the substrate moist in the process. I do this every Monday. Every Friday I mist the enclosure (webbing included). One of my 3 have found the water dish and actively drinks from it. The other two drink from the misting. The one that drinks from the big water dish actively hunts from the substrate. The other two that have never found the big water dish don't leave the webbing. All 3 have the same enclosure, same water bowl, and for the most part the same feeding day. (unless they aren't eating) I feed my Poo cannons every two weeks along with everyone else. It seems to work well.... minus the poo on the sides..... ugh. I need to learn to clean them earlier. I normally clean at night when they are out. While I am cleaning they tend to jump onto me. They are like "Oh a tree limb" *jump* "OH CRAP!!!" *jumps back*. Morning cleanings are a pain since I only have 30 minutes or so before I have to go to work. Evening cleanings are a pain since I tend to clean after supper. Both times they are normally out since it is dark outside. Although I will say my terrestrial versicolor is not one to jump compared the the arboreal ones. Same species, same sac, different characteristics. Truly intriguing. I am glad to be part of this hobby.

She is beautiful 😍. I remember watching a documentary on tarantulas in the 90’s, the one spider that stood out to me and I remember to this day is the pink toe tarantula. Oh and the host lying on the Forrest floor and letting a tarantula walk over his head, he was showing how non aggressive they are.

Wow, what a pretty girl, her pink feet are to die for. Looking forward to watching her journey - hopefully to becoming a rosy-toed Mama!
Incidentally Dave, an enormous black house spider appeared on my bathroom floor this week, after I'd left the window open in the heat wave. As a lifelong, chronic arachnophobe, I refuse to share my living quarters with our 8 legged friends (though I would never dream of harming one), and this was an especially impressive specimen almost 3 inches across.
So I carefully captured him/her using a big pint glass and a piece of card, and gently deposited him out in the garden. While they scare me, it's a love-hate relationship - which is why I love your channel, I must admit spiders fascinate me!
I took the opportunity to have a good look at this one inside the glass, before I set him/her free, and was interested to see a large pair of what looked like fangs emerging from the head, but could possibly have been the pedipalps you often mention? I wonder if you could answer a couple of queries for me?
I want to ask if the common house spider shares many characteristics in common with the exotics you have? Am I right in thinking you keep two categories - tarantulas and 'true' spiders? Re the house spider I evicted - would those have been fangs or pedipalps? And with it being such a large spider, does that indicate it was a female?
Thanks for another fantastic video, always so entertaining and informative. Love to you & lovely camera lady, hope you are both keeping cool in current, tropical conditions! ❤🕸🕷❤🕸🕷❤🕸🕷❤🕸🕷❤🕸🕷❤🕸❤

    • @daveslittlebeasties
      @daveslittlebeasties  2 роки тому

depending on the species it may have been a male as they are often larger as for the pedipalps they would look like short legs and the fangs would not be protruding like that 👍

I use those spider homes too and they all seem absolutely fine. I will say i am an avid house plant enthusiast so managing humidity is something i have been interested in for years, i try never to be in the situation where i have to counter dry air with drenching everything and creating massive condensation on the glass. Spiders and plants hate massive wetness especially in an environment where there is minimal to no air flow. People give their plants powdery mildew because they spray them without understanding their bedroom is very different to the wild.

Wonderful tarantula, so beautiful! Thank you dear Dave and Sweet Camera Lady you both are amazing! I lost my last remaining cat Trollet on August 10th. We had to put him down due to illnesses but it was a hard decision to make and we my husband and I are about to move back to our old but rebuilt and renovated apartment building. We had an arsonist who put fire to the attic in the middle of the night june 13-14 th 2020 so we had to run out in a hurry with our cats. It was hard and my older cat couldn't cope and thrive in the new temporary place and become sick and about a little more than a year ago Trollet got a cronical illness. He had allergis and did cough too so perhaps he had developed asthma too! It's hardcand heartbreaking to loose beloved pets! Hugs, Susanne.

Animals are innocent too...but life has to go on! The Veterinarian telephoned us yesterday afternoon and said that Trollets ash urn has come so today my husband has gone to pick up Trollets urn. I have two urns here allready on the bookshelf so Trollet can join Anakin and Nera there so they can be together here on Earth as in cat heaven. That was my first Arboreal : ) I love how she almost instantly disappears. My Avics always appreciated new enclosures, very easy spiders. As long as they feel safe and have food they will stay put, even if its a 100 foot tree (at least females)
I like the idea about an info-video with subjects like humidity, temperature, feeding cycle (especially when to stop before molting and how to detect that) etc. Lots of beginners cook and drown their spiders because they just don't know better.
I used to do the same thing when i started and was overly worried and had no clue and it is a miracle that i didn't kill a couple of them in the first weeks/months.

By watching and learning from your spiders you’ve gotten the idea that keeping your brush in constant contact with them, makes your spiders calmly do what you need them to. Without much fuss!
I had a giggle at Camera Lady struggling to remove her camera from the tripod to go “freehand” 😂 And you saying to just tear it off 😂
Thankyou both for another epic video from The Beastie Room 💙💕🕷Can’t wait to see the Giant pink toe’s follow up, to see how she’s getting along in her new abode!

Let`s see, i`ve got my Dave`s Little Beasties and my coke, i think i`m all set!
Great video man! I`ve never even heard of this species, so thanks very much for bringing them to my attention Dave! Very simple, but fantastic enclosure, very nice to look at. She is quite the impressive spider to look at! Very pretty, nice contrast of colours. I was wondering why the camera shook a few times lol, Camera Lady went a little crazy! That little note (that`s not the right word but whatever) cracked me up Dave, well played).I would like to see a video where you de-bunk myths in the hobby, Dave. A few of the reptile channels that i`m subscribed to have done some for the reptile hobby, but i can`t think of anyone better to do one for this hobby besides you Dave. So to answer your question, yes i`d like to see that video. And while we`re at it, a new feeding video would be nice! And well, you know my other suggestions.
As of right now, you did not heart or reply (i`m not complaining btw, this is leading to a point) to my comments on your 2 most recent videos. I say this because in those comments, i mentioned that my childhood pet, my bearded dragon died a few days ago. I had him since i was 5 or 6 years old. Old age is what got my ol scaly pal. His name was Long-Tail, named him when i first got him, and it stuck, never had the heart to change it. My point is Dave: I`m still a bit sad because he was so special to me. Back when i was bullied heavily, i felt like no one in the world loved me. He was my comfort after school. That lizard as unlike no other, he was special, he was special, i`ll never have another pet like him. This video lifted my spirits, thanks Dave. We buried him behind the shed a couple days ago, it was pretty emotional for me, i almost cried. Best reptile a little boy could ask for, lived through most of my teenage years with him, best pet i`ve ever had. You know something Dave? The hardest part is not the husbandry or the diet, none of that. It`s the end.
Do reply Dave, i hope you, Camera Lady and The Beasties are well. Much love from Ontario, Canada Dave, see you on Monday. Love your channel, but of course you already know that, me being #1 Fan and all, said it yourself. Keep up the great work Dave & Camera Lady!

@@daveslittlebeasties Thanks for the kind words Dave. Yeah i gave him a good life, he was healthy, happy etc... When i was a bit older, my dad passed on the responsibility of taking care of him (my dad took care of him until i was about 9), and i learned about enclosure, size, diet, everything and made sure he had everything he needed. I spoiled him.
      RIP Long-Tail, Papa misses ya.
