I have studied your various excellent videos many times to both prepare and guide me through the conversion process. I have 2 questions:
    1) with the exception of this video (part 7), all your other mentions of the initial timing on a 4.3 V6 Mercruiser have been a very specific requirememt to set at 1 Deg before Top Dead Centre. However, in this video I noted that you mentioned that this 1 Deg BTDC timing was for the V6 Vortex engines post 1995 and that you would do another video on the earlier V6 engines. However, I havent been able to find another video and the only other instructions I have is "time the engine to engine manufacturer specifications" (which is 8 deg BTDC for my 1990ish engine) - The engine is starting beter than ever and is running on ear muffs fine on the 1 deg BTDC initial timing setting but I am now very concerned about putting the engine under load/revs in the water, without clarification).
    2) When using the dedicated timing harness to set the base timing to 1 deg BTDC, I have been very confused between the various videos (ie when using the multipurpose harness and dedicated harness) on where to actually connect the one free wire (which is Black on my version!).
Does the dedicated Harness timing wire need to be temporarily connected to a positive source to put the system into base timing mode?

For question 1 watch video part 9 in this playlist. As I recommend you should watch all videos in a playlist regarding a product line as they all apply. Your fears are correct that you should not use the factory timing setting and if told to do so by a Sierra Ignition kit you could very easily blow your engine.

For question 2 yes the dedicated harness timing wire (set timing harness) has a long wire (mine has an alligator clip) that you connect to a positive 12 volt source to put the distributor into set timing mode.

Mr Savor, I’m confused as to why you would need so many brackets and the wiring etc. if you bought a boat. But regardless I don’t sell any of the parts you are looking for. What I need in order to help is the serial number from your engine and an explanation as to why you don’t have the brackets and wiring now. I can’t answer phone calls since I’m out of the country right now. Send me an email to: gmefiguy@gmail.com to provide the above information.
