Martin, my Steel on Steel arrived this morning and your advice on cutting away the small flash strip so the tension lock and kinementic worked was great information. I had also seen the pipes need shortening by about 1mm to make sure it works both ways. Thank you!
Great video. The longest trains are usually the Lindsay (Humber refinery) to Kingsbury ones that have long been the domain of DB's remaining 60s. Indeed, 60010 was the loco in charge (still with DB Schenker branding) when we went there to research the tankers back in 2015. The length of the trains is governed by the three discharge sidings at Kingsbury which have capacity for 11, 11 and 10 wagons, so in theory they can run up to 32. Have fun with your 60!
@revolutiontrains Wow, thankyou so much. Wow, that's incredible, ten years ago you was researching them and now you know what a 3100 ton oil train in 00 looks like🤣🤣...just amazing to watch. That was my dream to run that length train and now your saying its too short....🤣🤣🤣......now I have to find another tank wagon..🤣... Thank you so much, its amazing loco......specially with the tankers...lol... Take care Martin
Great Video! I missed out on a Cavalex 56 the first time round (gutted). But managed to get a Cavalex DCR 60 and what a beautiful representation of the real machine it is. I fortunately catch a 60 most Friday/Saturday's running through my area. Always a treat 🙂
@@mattski8787 Thankyou so much, Ya I hate to say it you really did miss out on that thankfully that they are bring out batch two...lol... Brilliant review as always Martin. I’ve got one but I’m still getting just as excited watching yours! I wanted the LoadHaul livery but the steel on steel one out. Some of the reviews are a bit worrying. There is a hum on mine but it comes and goes. Nothing i can’t live with. Thanks for the vids

This is a fantastic video of this new Cavalex Models Class 60. I have 60062 and I love the quality, One thing I like about this version of the Class 60 is that unlike the spring on the Hornby model that is too strong and can pull 4 wheeled light wagons off the track. The coupling system is more forgiving on this new Class 60 and it doesn't "fight" the wagons as the spring is not as harsh and being a brand new model. I welcome it with open arms and despite it having C4 drive, it is more an able to pull a decent train behind it. I am on the lookout for some BR grey models of this one and I want 60098 and Transrail 60097 as well as DCC ready models. Because I plan to at some point intend to make my models radio controlled and battery powered using an 11 volt lithium polymer battery. Only once the warranty has expired first though. I will use the RailPro system. As for the real life Class 60. There is a Class 60 preservation group that I am a member of and I want to see some Class 60 become preserved or even repurposed and rebuilt as passenger locomotives either in the UK or export to places like Mexico or Panama. Metra in Chicago did something similar with the EMD SD70MAC that was a freight locomotive and converted them into passenger locomotives with the addition of HEP (Head End Power) generator and uprated traction motors to 95mph that these repurposed locomotives became the SD70MACH and sport the Metra Blue and Black livery. I hope TPE would consider doing something like this with some Class 60's and use them with the TPE Mk5a's and reclassed these former Class 60's into something like a Class 62 or a Class 63 that could do 95-100mph and the Co-Co wheelsets would eat the hills on the pennines as well. Especially the Scarborough to Liverpool and the Liverpool to Cleethorpes workings as a couple of suggestions. Perhaps these locomotives could run on bio fuel or hydrogen as well. Preferably swap out the power unit for something like a 4200hp Cummins QSK95 or a Caterpillar C-175 for the extra power required. Anything, my thoughts aside on this whole thing. I want to thank you for the great video and the history of these beasts and please keep up the great work mate. All the best Peter.

Wow, radio controlled, that'll be impressive to play around with. Wow thats amazing that there is a preservation group and hope they can save a good amount of locos. Hello Martin, I see you're completely smitten with your Cavalex class 60, with two more pre-ordered also! I am very pleased that yours lives up to expectations. There's no doubt that it's a beautifully detailed model with innovative build, great sound and lighting functions. You mentioned very briefly about some noise when it's running, despite yours appearing to have been properly lubricated. As you know from my previous videos, there is a strange droning, humming and whirring sound from mid to higher speeds coming from the somewhere along the drive chain. I am still trying to establish from exactly where! This has be reported to me by quite a few people so it deserves further investigation.... Anyway, another great video from you so thank you for taking the time to film, edit and share it with us. Your installments are always a pleasure to watch. Kind regards, Julian
