I apologize for the bad audio in this video. I was talking too quietly! So I just posted an updated review of this airbrush with the new version 2.0 needle. Check it out! ua-cam.com/video/gZTuPAs6dFA/v-deo.html
I do agreed that the quality on this brush is second to none. Unfortunately it did not do it for me. I exchanged mine for the ps771 with spraygunner. I love everything about minus the spray issue with the old needles. I thought the .15 was thr problem, but even with the .4 needle was the same and it varies a lot just like you stated. I've heard they went back to the drawing board and re done the needles. Now they claimed to have fixed the needle issue with the version 2. Who knows if they did I may purchase one in the near future. Thanks for a great detail review it's much appreciated.
Thank you! I had the same spray issue with the .2 and the .4 on the infinity as well. The ps771 is outstanding- Half the price of the micron and sprays exactly the same.
@@theartworkshop I just recently got a PS 771 and I find myself using it more and more. I still use all my Olympos airbrushes as well as my single Iwata HP-CH....the PS 771 just happens to be in the same league.
@@sped17373 I would love to get the creos PS 771! i have the micron cmc+ and find it so hard now tho go back to any other brush. But I know the ps 771 is practically identical to the micron performance and hey that price range is so dam inviting lol 😀👍
I have the same feeling regarding the trigger action. I can get very very fine lines but cannot control how far should I pull the trigger for the paint to start flowing. Sotar is much better regarding this aspect. On the pros I would add that the air flow can be controlled accurately just by the trigger. It is not just on/off
I have always had a love/hate relationship with my Inifinity. I just can't get consistent results, and precisely for the reason you mentioned: no consistency in the trigger control. When it works, it's amazing, when it doesn't, it's hell. I've never had this issue with my custom micron.
Do you know if the trigger response has been fixed over the years? You mentioned you’ve had it for 8 years so I wondered if it has been addressed in later versions
@@theartworkshop Got it. I have an old evolution silverline and i love how easy it is to clean and how great it feels in general. Trigger response consistency is one of my gripes with the cheaper airbrushes i own.
I bought mine a few months back and it has the trigger issue sadly and it's the V2 :( After polishing the needle it does respond a bit better. Now that Iwata own Harder & Steenback hopefully they will address this trigger issue.
Hello, wow, that truly is a detailed review, thank you! I'm having a hard time deciding between airbrushes. Since i'm located in germany, the Infinity, HS-CS and Badger 2020 are somewhat close in price (230/200/170 respectively). Is the inconsistency with the trigger really that bad? Since i don't want to think too much about these type of things when airbrushing, i was wondering if there is a definitive recommendation between those or other airbrushes in the same price range. Currently on a used Neo and spraying small to medium sized stuff (minis to 12" statues, sometimes shadows and details on movie/game props). It's tough to decide, since it's a lot of money to spend on a thing that is supposed to serve me well for a couple years and after watching multiple reviews.. well.. there's always ups and downs and one can watch TOO many reviews, up to a point where there's only confusion and cons haha. Thank you very much :)
Thanks!! Great questions. The Infinity is an incredible airbrush. The trigger is just annoying at times; It spays wonderfully though. If it's the only airbrush you use, you get used to it. They are supposed to have fixed this with the new needle. I bought one and will be reviewing it within a month. I hope it's better! You can't go wrong with any of those airbrushes, but the infinity is the highest build quality for sure. It should last a lifetime.
@@theartworkshop hello! I know it’s been 4 weeks since this comment, I just gave your page a look. Do you possibly know when the new video will go up? :) I’m looking to get their airbrush for airbrushing faux fur to make animal ears for a business. I was wanting an airbrush to do both fine details and slightly wide ones to shade the inside of the ears and do intricate designs. I noticed another ear maker using this infinity airbrush and just been watching reviews on it. Thank you for your time!
For details I usually use an old Paasche V and a AB Turbo along with a Sotar 20/20. Now I am thinking about buying an Infinity or a Custom Micron CM SB2. Any ideas?
That tiny delay you've mentioned from pull-back to spray is precisely why I don't use H&S airbrushes. I think they're beautifully built but that 'delay' is just too inconsistent for me to use for my freehand work.
@@magnusr3428 I bought an Iwata Hi-Line HP-BH, which is perfect for my needs as a miniature hobbyist. My decision was heavily influenced by UA-camr miniature painters such as Marco Frisoni (@MarcoFrisoniNJM) and Vince Venturella (@Vince Venturella). Amazing painters, much like this channel, but their canvas is metal and plastic miniatures.
I too own this airbrush and love it but the trigger is hit and miss and lets it down. I've polished the needle and it has improved it a little. I own and have owned all different brands and the quality is up there with the Iwata's finest and I might even go to say it's probably the best overall finish on any airbrush.
Were the trigger issues there from day one or is it something that became nice able over time? I’m wondering if it’s an internal seal or something that gradually wears out.
Other UA-camrs have encountered this. Basically, that gold bridge bit behind the trigger is supposed to touch the needle chuck, but it has a bit of play, making the action inconsistent. You have to pull it back some before it makes contact. Other UA-camrs got around this by buying the 3-pack of PTFE nozzle washers, opening them up a bit with a dremel bit or pin vise, and putting them on the needle chuck so the trigger bridge is always touching the needle chuck.
I stopped using mine and swapped to a gsi creos 270. The maintenance on the HS is just not reasonable. I had change sooo many o-rings and the 3 internal Teflon seals that gets deformed over time due to the design, thus loosing their Shape and starts bleeding air and paint. And the front nozzle cap have to turned SUPER tight or ot starts bleeding air, and you can only take that cap on and off so many time to change the needle nozzle for a different size needle before the o-ring gets deformed, and you have to change it. My CR plus have been living in the bottom of my airbrush drawer for over 2 years now
the .15mm needle and nozzle is too small and the needle taper is too long and gradual. H&S says to up the air to 29 psi so that the syphon will draw paint better through the small opening. I think the trigger pulls the needle back instantly in the beginning but has to go further and further back just to increase the openning enough so that paint can start to be drawn by suction. I solved this problem pushing down on the trigger for air then by hand loosened the back needle chuck and slowly drew back on the needle until a spray just started, then pushed the needle just a hair forward to stop it, then tightened the chuck . This way the needle is actually not completely closed and the second I pull back the trigger ,I will then an instant response.
I have this airbrush and yes the quality of craftmanship is amazing BUT!! that trigger control makes it the worst airbrush ever. Imo its the fact that the small .15mm needle , fluid tip opening and extremely long needle taper are the reason why the trigger delay is so bad on this brush. Even at normal air psi the needle has to travel along distance to just open up enough to allow the air to pull the paint. To be honest, my 30 year old Paasche V and VJR with a .25mm needle and tip both spray far better and with more control than this brush unfortunately.
@@theartworkshop It saddens me because i could look at this cr plus brush all day! lol It feels beautiful in my hand and the design of the fluid tip is genius plus so easy to clean. I even found a hack on youtube that supposedly fixes the trigger problem and after making the adjustment it is still inconsistant. This is why i believe it has to do possibly with the super small .15mm set up and long needle taper. But i could be totally wrong 🤣

Great little photo. Thank you for this.
I have the nickle plated 2in1 that I got before the CR Plus came out. It is my favorite brush for detail.
I have that one too. Very cool airbrush!

seems to be a common occurrence. You're right through, the line detail is great when it sprays correctly.

Thanks man!
My trigger is very consistent. What I would have liked to see on the brush is a mac valve.
They have a mac valve for this
This review is very technical and useful, congratulations. Greetings from Perú.
