- I've been working on some locomotive projects lately and upgrading the sound in some. 1635 finally got a Scale Sound Systems speaker, see my previous videos for a comparison, it is rather epic. 4406 also got a SSS speaker and a lot of prototype operation tuning with JMRI. Working on a couple other units and figured I'd catch some railfanning on my lunch break.
I really like your layout thank you for sharing your videos I also model Chicago and Northwestern👍👍👍

You gotta have the Pink Lady ballast! Hopefully you acquire some for your layout when its time. Arizona Rock and Mineral, this is actually "Mauve" but I like it better than the actual Pink Lady that George offers.
@@CNW1025 I have several bags from them I bought years back at Trainfest, but if I understand correctly, Pink Lady came after my era (Late 50s) so mine was ballasted in cinders mostly.
@@thecnwmondovilinepaulscota7304 Oh interesting, did not know that. But you can always use the modelers license too! you do have diesel power so pink lady would look accurate with that.
Thanks for posting. 1635 sounds good. I haven't used the SSS speakers yet. After hearing yours and some others, thinking about ordering some. I have always made my own speaker boxes. But I guess I'm lacking in that skill, after hearing Scale Sounds.
Wow, didn't know you did that. Your locos sound good in my opinion. But JT at SSS is I guess an actual audio expert. The speakers appear to be regular sugarcube, best as I can tell, but its all in the box. I have plenty of sugarcubes in standard enclosures but the sound is not this deep. Plus his prices are the same as a TDS supersonic and a box. So its all very competitive, but better.
Your layout looks great.. luv the motive power, all the C&NW cars and even the color of the ballast.... Athearn anounced the C&NW Dash 9's but patched for the UP with the 'Prime for Grime Scheme' including a rusty burned out top area... it kinda fits my layout.. my theme is the UP takeover of many RR's... Ive been looking at Tomar's C&NW semapahore signals as Id like to add a couple as I would see them for real in N. Milwaukee in the early 70's... they are unigue.. have a good week... DD 😜 😎
I actually have a Tomar CNW semaphore just not installed yet. Its a nicely detailed piece.

1635 has great sound. Which decoder is in it? Great job on making the CNW come back to life.
Thank you! 1635 still has the original Essential Sound Unit from ESU/Loksound that came from the factory in the Walthers Mainline units. Its rather impressive for an economy decoder. Just needed a little bit of tuning to get it to run smooth at slow speeds.

Where does the Southfield sub run through is it Iowa
Its totally free lanced and fictional. The town of SouthField and everything on the main level is Nebraska. The lower level once it gets under way will cover South Dakota and Iowa, but no specific areas. Thanks for watching.

@@CNW1025 everyone does Iowa and Nebraska people should do minnesota because everyone does all the other states but minnesota CNW had a lot of trackage in minnesota so I don’t know why they don’t do minnesota
