I just got my 5A to replace my OnePlus 7Pro. The battery life was the biggest selling point to me. I no longer need to charge before bed and I love that.
My OnePlus 7Pro had terrible battery life so I immediately switched the display to 1080p 60hz, so the display on the Pixel wasn't a downgrade for me as much as it might be for others. It's also much easier to hold without a case with a flat display.

@@mxmus08 Fixed it today. Keep playing with putting the sim card in and out while the phone was on/off. Eventually something clicked. Its working!

5a for the win. Battery and screen size along with a great, budget price.
I will choose pixel 5 because of 90hz and compact size
90hz display is hard to pass on, it's such a noticeable difference in user experience
@@JSLReview I hope I never see a 90hz display. The way you describe it makes it sound like a disease. I'm more than happy with 60hz. It benefits from being less battery intensive, which will help the battery not needing to be charged, which will help the battery's lifespan, which will help keep my electricity usage down and help the environment. Sounds better to me than the visuals being a bit more fluid 🤷🏿♀️
I like Pixel 5's Size but 5a is cheaper and has a headphone Jack. So I guess I will go for 5a
5a is a value beast no doubt, and in my opinion it's still pretty comfortable despite being a bit larger than the 5

Same I wished the A series continued the trend of being smaller. I don't need a bigger phone. Currently on a 3a and I absolutely LOVE it.
I went with the 5a. I love it. It's the best phone I've used since the Note 5, way back in the day.
With very thin uniform bezels all around and a neatly placed camera at the corner and not to mention the flat screen with 2.5D glass, the Pixel 5 has hands-down the best looking front on any smartphone out there.

I bought the 5a, I don't play games on my phones so the faster refresh rate doesn't matter. Now battery life does.
As a Pixel 4a 5g owner would just love a decent trade-in option from Google for the 5a. The extra battery, screen size and IP rating makes it so tempting.

Pixel 5 easily mainly because of its form factor. It is a flagship while 5a is a budget/mid-range phone.
One big deciding issue for me is how well the screen can be seen outdoors as that's where I work. And what covers most of the planet. If you could include that in your reviews, I'd appreciate it.
Bought the 5 a few weeks ago because the 5a is not available in Canada. May upgrade to the 6 if it turns out to be an outstanding phone.
Just a year and a half later, and a renewed/refurbished pixel 5 in good condition can easily be found for $130 and sometimes even less. Pretty amazing how the price has dropped for such a nice piece of tech that's still quite capable today.

I went with the 5a5g. Had a P4 and locked it to 60hz...I just didn't find higher rates of any value to me. Nice phone. Not high end, but extremely solid and great price. I also have almost no use for video. I do love taking photos though. Just about the largest size I can work with, though slightly smaller would have been fine. The edges are thin and perfect for using a case... I do not like the full to the edge displays...they annoy me tremendously. Couple of days on the battery is SO much better than the partial day of the P4.
I have the pixel 5 coming from a Samsung Galaxy s10 at first I kind of liked it but as time goes on I absolutely loved it and I cannot wait for the next generation of Pixel phone's
I bought the 5A in August and it is great. I have little need for the video quality you speak of but i can understand your concern, Video is becoming much more important for viewing.

Why is google going back and fourth between making the "a" series smaller and then larger and now smaller again? Ridiculously confusing for someone looking for the smallest phones.

I like the 'a' models, it's exactly what most of us need, but they had to sacrifice the ram so it's very much less future proof...so pixel 5 for me
This all depends on the user. But me personally, I'd rather invest in the Pixel 5a. I don't game on a phone; if I want 120Htz refresh rate on a screen I'd rather have it on a tv. I can live without wireless charging despite improvements in the technology. But no matter what, wired charging will always be faster. Finally, the headphone jack is still there. Weather you use it or not, I still find it to be one of the most convenient ports of the phone -- you have more audio options.
Pixel 5, for sure. Those symmetrical bezels are satisfying.

Why does no one do a phone call speaker test review. People can not hear you on the pixel 5 speaker phone.
I swapped from a 120hz S21 Ultra to the 60hz pixel 5a and it was no issue at all. I don't know why everyone thinks it's such a big deal. It isn't.
probably only for fps gaming.
but a very important fact is that 5a doesn't come with the google photo backup storage... that's the biggest nogo for me

5 has so sweet and cute design and feeling of holding a perfect smartphone
also another key here is p5 has 8 gigs of ram vs p5a 6 gigs, those 2 extra ram goes a long way. another note is p5 in camera setting has audio zoom for video recording, while the p5a does not (correct me if i am wrong). the real trade off is battery, screen size, headphone jack, plus one more year of update/security patch for the p5a. if thats worth your cup of tea versus ram,refresh rate, wireless charging.
I like how it has the same thing as iPhone to leave the app you're on if anyone knows what im talking about. The performance is really smooth I like that phone
Even tho the s21 ultra is my daily driver I have a pixel 4 running the Android 12 beta and it feels so buttery smooth. I'm really interested in the pixel 6 tbh

why isn't anybody highlighted one more integral difference between the two phones? one under the glass the earpiece and the other one having the actual earpiece. Being a "phone" it's very important.
As a backup phone I have a 4a 5g pulled the trigger on the 5a on Swappa with a Google case for 440 I'll probably be a me to sell the 4a 5g for about the same price locally I have an iphone 12 pro as my daily but honestly enjoy using the crap out of the 4a 5g, it already has great battery life can't imagine what the 5a will do and I would use the pixel more if it had some of those niceties like the ip rating so the 12 pro may sit in a desk desk for a bit after I receive the 5a

I experienced a Hike refresh rate before on my S20 ultra went to the back to iPhone 12 promax 60 Hz screen and it did not bother me at all it something I can live without tbh

I just bought the pixel 5a 5g only to have a good stock android phone since my zfold 3 is my main device
google should use like another brands better processors for the 4a 720 for 5a 860 and 5a plus 870 and for his flagships the Tensors.
I'm sure if there wasn't such a massive chipset shortage, they would have used a better processor this time around.

They could just drop the price of the 5 at this point....the 6 seroes has been revealed and the 5a is not really worth 250$ dollars less than the 5. Maybe at 550$ ot would be really appealing to buy even now

Legit just wanted to see how big it was in your hand, I'm definitely going with the 5, because I like small phones. Phones are way too big these days. I think the 6 is ugly & too big, maybe I'll just wait for the 7 to see if it's ugly looking to.

Google did not release a larger Pixel 5 in 2020 and didn't release a smaller Pixel 5a in 2021. See the pattern? Google is buying time for the Pixel 6 series. There were rumors that there wasn't supposed to be a Pixel 5/5a but Google still pushed through so fans don't get disappointed with the hiatus
Wireless charging. Deal breaker for me. I don't use cords anymore on my d2d. Much more convenient without them.

I'm so tented to switch from iPhone 11 pro to Pixel 5A.
Sadly u didn't mention how bad the speakers were for the pixel 5. That would be a deal breaker and anyone would just go for the 5a.
The pixel 5..... that form factor and 90hz display. I would take that.
pixel 5 comes wiht flexible oled and so it has symetrical bezel which is expensive technology

I still have the Pixel 5 (I had the 6 for a few months (after the screen of my 5 was broken) but I changed back to the Pixel 5 (after fixing the screen) because it's just the perfect phone for me and I don't want to go for another phone for a while. In this comparison I'd also go for the 5 instead of the 5a I think. I prefer the smaller form factor. Also the Pixel 5 has a little more RAM which I like. And there's wireless charging. The only thing I really really like on the 5a is the headphone jack. If I had to decide that would be a reason I may at least consider going for the 5a. Also I guess it would also be a decend phone and I'd not be disappointed. But the 5 is the better choice for me. Also never had a phone that durable.
Size is the only reason I will go for Pixel 5 instead of pixel 5a and even Pixel 6

Google's pricing makes zero sense. Slightly larger display, WITHOUT wireless charging is $100 cheaper? I bought the 5 JUST because it had wireless charging. If I have no charger and go somewhere there is a wireless charger, I'm good. Wireless charging is universal, so it's a must have, and should be on everything with a battery.

I had a pixel 5 for a few days. Call me old-fashioned, but a phone still has to make phone calls. The 5 has it's upper speaker built into the display. And I don't mean behind it, I mean it literally vibrates the glass to make sound, without and sound hole. It sounds terrible, and it's difficult to hear the person on the other end without tutning on speaker phone. I returned it. It's a shame, because I liked it in every other regard.
i prefer pixel 5 a bit because it is more slim and light than pixel 5 5g and i like something tend small in order to put it my pocket

Both 5 and 5a use old Sony sensor from 2017! If you want it cheaper, buy xiaomi Mi8 + goggle camera, Mi 8 has the same sensor as all Pixels..

I was shocked when tested Xiaomi Mi8 + google cam+google photo.. and I asked myself, how this Chinese phone can get the same brilliant quality of photos as Pixels have? The answer is - they have the same Sony DMX sensor, the same camera app, the same postprocessing features... Google's photo magic revealed))

Doesn't need one. It's just as fast and snappy, also has the best battery life I have ever used in a phone. Stock android and great cameras. It's does everything well without Sd888. Don't get caught up in specs.
