In the first ending with Mikasa, in the ending there was Historia and the last one with Eren - 3 of them just going through the field of white flowers and one drop of blood falling on a flower. And when Zeke was blown by Levi in 4 season and when Founder Ymir was hunted by Fritz, there was a white flower with a blood drop on it
"Non anime fan?" seriously? Oh man... You lost all respect from me, bating like that. Everytime you'll say "genuine" from now on I will get an alergic reaction.
That was indeed ending 3 and correct me if I'm wrong I think when it released even the manga wasn't at that point of the story so even manga readers didn't know what it meant, Isayama is a genius of foreshadowing!
Ending 3 is not audio edited, it is the real version, it's made by Shinsei Kamattechan who also made opening 6 My War, Shinsei is the favorite singer/artist of Isayama (Attack on Titan writer) and he really wanted Shinsei to sing for his work. And every work of Shinsei sound "off" like he doesn't sing properly but it still sound good. And I understand why Iyasama really love him. And fun fact, Shinsei have an INCREDIBLE vocal range, all the main vocal in ending 3 and in the full version of My War there is a section where it sound like a girl singing, it's all sung by Shinsei without a voice changer, even if there's still distorsion in his voice, it doesn't affect his pitch. I really love ending 3 because it's disturbing but still sound "good", like other people have said, it sound like devilish angels singing, and it perfectly fit the visuals.
Vocalist named Noko, he uses voice changer, you can see on stream or at concerts Shinsei Kamattechan is also my favorite band, songs like Girls2, Black Egg and Majogari I really like it
Now having the context I actually love the dissonance in ending 3 and the off putting imagery actually isayama directed that one himself! You won’t believe the theory crafting this caused yet we were still way off the mark with many things that got revealed in season 3 & 4
Now that you've finished the show and actually understand the symbolisms, i think you should definitely react to all the openings again. Personally, it's so damn satisfying seeing you react to OPs and EDs while understanding the plot/symbolisms/foreshadowing. I wouldnt mind getting repeated OPs and EDs reactions after finishing shows in general. PS, yes that was ending 3. Massive spoilers and foreshadowing there😂 But none of us could get what it all meant at the time, so we were indeed just confused until season 4 aired.
The last ending felt like... Eren wanted freedom. He went out of the walls and thought he was free just to see that Paradis is a cage. So he wished for true freedom. And for that, he is ready to set himself ablaze until the flames consume his very being.
I highly recommend reacting to the 1st ending and the 7th with lyrics on, at the very least on your own time, the parallels in the lyrics makes it like listening to a conversation between eren and mikasa and it has made me cry several times. Congratulations on finishing the show, now you get to experience the masterpiece in real time with the rest of us!
ENDING 1: Remember that during some first chapters, it seemed that Eren had died, shifting the focus to Mikasa. The fact that she appeared in the ending for several people probably reinforced the idea that she would probably be the new protagonist of the story. ENDING 2: one of my favourites endings. ENDING 3: The scene in which King Fritz feeds Ymir's remains to his 3 daughters could have been interpreted, at that time, as an artistic image without any meaning in relation to the series. In fact, when that ending was broadcast, Ymir's past, which appears in season 4, had not even been published in the manga. The same with the rumbling scene. ENDING 4: well done reacting to the special ending! Hahah. ENDING 5: my favorite ending! ENDING 6: this one starts playing before season 4 episode 4 ends, when Gabi says "It kinda feels like something is about to change" and Reiner says "yeah...". You probably remember it from then. ENDING 7: The scene where the blood from Eren's knife falls on a flower is reminiscent of the scene where Ymir is running away from the arrows and her blood falls on a flower. NEXT ENDING 8: you have to react to this tomorrow after watching the episode! And, for the copyright issues, post it in a separate video!
The fact ED3 aired around Season 2 and they had all those foreshadowing showing the story was planned all along is insane . Also about Ending 1 and 7 , even the lyrics connect .
I think you must've heard season 4 ending partially during one episode, when Gabi was being dragged by Reiner after festival and saying how hopeful she is about the change that might be coming, i love that scene btw.
I've read a theory once that the walnut in E2 actually symbolizes Eren, since walnut trees produce a toxic chemical called Juglone in their leaves, roots and everything that kills off other plants around the tree. It's actually really dark if you think about it. Also, the images in E3 were actually not even shown in the manga yet when S2 aired, so this is one of those very strange cases where the anime kind of spoiled the manga. Hajime Isayama got it all planned out - it's amazing.
Last ED is my favourite as its lyrics different when you know how it's going to end..Eren is really one of the best MC in the history of anime along with Lelouch, Thorfinn, Katagiri Yuichi etc..
You watch the last ending and even without knowing the lyrics you instantly feel like crying....this show is the best...you can just feel the weight on erens shoulders
You're right about first and the last Eren ending, later one answering the question that were asked by Mikasa in the first op the lyrics are really sweet
also, the ending 3 was incredible foreshadowing by isayama, that ending aired with season 2 which aired in 2017, nit even isayama knew how he wanted the story to go at that point, and it eventually rounded itself back to that ending with the scene from season 4, not to mention the Rumbling foreshadowing too. Brilliant
The lyrics to the final ending, "Akuma No Ko" add SO much to the experience. I'd like to see a reaction w/ lyrics to the first and last song. :) Love your enthusiasm! I just discovered AoT a month ago and I can't get enough.
About ending 3, by the time it came out, not even the manga had covered Ymir's story yet. The month the chapter was released a few years later, everyone came back to that ending and lost their minds.
For the first song that you recognized, you heard it as it was played during the ending scene of the episode where Reiner is walking around with the kids during the festival on the Liberio internment zone. The second one that you recognized; 'Akuma no Ko', you heard Kanata sing it in one of her concerts, when she revealed her new outfit, as she was wrapped around black wings.
They didn't get it wrong, that really was ED3. And it wasn't audio edited either, it was just supposed to sound that sinister. It just goes to show how the writer really had a vivid idea of how the rest of the show was going to go, as this ending was made long before that part of the story came out even in the manga. When Isayama was telling the animators what to animate for this ED, they must've been so confused.
Fun fact for ed 3 the manga wasn't even finished at the point , and that part of the story was not even written by the author when that ed aired but the author specifically worked with the animators to get that ed 3 to be animated with those visuals which shows that he had the whole story sorted out in his head as soon as he started writing the story. This absolutely blows my mind .
Min 7:25 man, that scene of the baby being held in the arms of the father or mother while the titans chase them from behind is so terrifying, it always scared me to death. Do not forget that scene, The symbolism of that scene from season 3 onwards is brutally cool and sad at the same time. Isayama, you are great.
This was great seeing your reaction. I remember when I started watching your reactions as a non anime watcher and thinking “I can’t wait for this man to transform into an anime fan going into this rabbit hole” and here we are. Fantastic journey you’ve had with your subscribers!
Please look up the last opening, but with the lyrics, its so amazing. Theres also a edited one that has a more images from the show that shows the story almost perfectly. Highly recommend it
Ending 4 is so good, both the regular and special version. I feel a lot of people forget about it when talking about Linked Horizon's songs for AoT. (Speaking of which, I think Revo was involved on some level in the special version since the audio editing is so intricate, some layers of the original song fade or cut away earlier than others. Maybe he created an entire special mix of the song for it - would be cool if it was ever released.)
You heard the song "Shock" at the ending of one of the episodes of season 4 part 1. It played through one of the ending scenes. Can't remember which episode but it does do credits and the song during the scenes instead of the normal ending. I also heavily recommend looking into the translations of the lyrics, they're so deep and meaningful to these parts of the stories.
Maate, it made me so happy when you instantly pointed out the parallels between the first ending and the last one. If you get a chance, you should definitely check them both out with lyrics (especially the last one, so beautiful). But yeah, you'll see the parallels much more powerfully too!
Please react to the OSTs to the show, Hiroyuki Sawano does an amazing job at making the music, actually making music in general, he’s a goated composer
I read the theory somewhere, that the reason we the audience strive to not spoil is because we're here to relive our first time watching the show and getting blown away. Since we can't exactly erase our memories and rewatch the show and get our minds blown once again, the only thing that comes close is to watch others go through the show for the first time and get their minds blown. And I think that theory has some good points.
it's definitely amazing that you're getting to have context for these now... especially given the perspective of how far the characters have come since the beginning. I will say... for a lot of anime, it's a whole different experience seeing the OP and ED alongside each episode. maybe that'll be the case in the future for shows where you've already done the OP/ED reaction? some of my favorites are OPs where the show recontextualizes the whole piece as you go. it's always so friggin cool when an episode gives you new information, and it feels like the stuff you learned just turned the OP around and you're seeing everything in it function from a different angle! I think anime OPs and EDs are most satisfying when they utilize the themes of the work, so it can convey symbolically relevant information to people who know everything that happens in that season, but also not give much of anything away about the plot to those who are watching it for the first time. in the best cases, you'll notice as it evolves. the OP itself can act as a waypoint... you can keep going back to it, and keep applying different characters' perspectives. the second Ranking of Kings OP is like that... it's actually one of the best examples I can think of. no matter what it seems to mean at the beginning, it'll mean a _lot_ more by the end. that's why, while I love all of Chainsaw Man's EDs, and I wouldn't trade any of them... I am glad that not every anime does what it did. sure, each ED was crafted to go with the episode it belonged to, but you lose a bit of that sense that the creators were willing to put certain answers right under your nose every episode, until you could finally understand.
Also, for Ymir if you pause the Rumbling OP at the moment where Galiard is looking out the window, you will see Ymir's reflection in the window. I LOVE it when shows put sooo much sublty in their openings.
17:42 Yup, you've heard it at the end of S4ep4, the credits started during the scene when Gabby and the others are coming back from the festival. Gabby is telling something like "a big change is coming" with a big smile on her face while being dragged by reiner haha.
This might be my favourite reaction video on your channel, being able to put all the pieces together and understanding the weight and emotion. I’d love a Higurashi openings reaction in the future!
ED 1 : Mikasa. ED 2 : Rookies. ED 3 : A glimpse of scenes in the future. ED 4 : Historia (Crista). ED 5 : Tribute to those who failed and dies without knowing the outside world. ED 6 : Falco. ED 7 : Eren acomplishing freedom.
Thats why I love ending 3 not just because of the fantastically creepy visuals and song but the fact that all that lore was there this entire time but you didnt know what it meant. Probably my favourite ending of all the aot endings.
Several endings, including ending 6 as you asked about, are played during ending scenes of some episodes. Example: first ep of S4. You usually only skip once the credits start to roll, so thats why they sound familiar.
Ending 7 and ending 1 are basically connected. Strongly recomed to watch a side-by-side edit, or even a seamless combined version of them. And it's bloody incredible.
I recommend you to watch w subs! All music from AOT are literally meaningful.. It makes some sense even if the S2 ending were uesd for the last season. 19:58 omg thanks for notifying meee😭 that totally makes sense. Young Eren and Mikasa standing alone and the muffler they wearing was flying away.
Full music video, subtitled versions of the Openings & Endings. Also please react to the remaining OVA’s, The Sudden Visitor, Distress, Wall Sina Goodbye Pts 1 &2 , and Lost In A Cruel World.
Ending 3 was always one of my favorites. Yes, it did show things that wouldn't be fully revealed until later in the show, but because they didn't really explain what they were showing, you didn't really get spoiled on the history, rather it gave the tone/feeling of that history. Sure you could guess and piece some of it together, but never anything concrete.
Do you remember your first video reacting to the aot openings? remember when you said maybe it was about who could be the most naked and that the colossal Titan was king naked because he took all his skin off so he was more naked than everyone else 🤣 I laughed my head off 😂
Ending 3 has massive foreshadowing, it shows Ymir getting eaten, the destruction of the marleyan city of Lago by the titans who were sent by Eldian king and even the rumbling
In case you missed it, at the beginning of ending 2, when they're showing Eren, Mikasa, Armin, and company, the wall behind them is literally showing us that there is actually a sea and that some ships are heading to the island (most likely Marleyan float). Guess it is the same image that is used for the "To be continued..." screen. In any case, this is another foreshadowing that went unnoticed. ❤ Oh man, I LOVE this anime! Also, now that you know the story, it was really cool to see your reactions and thoughts on these endings. Sending you lots of love from Argentina. 😊
Now, you must again to the last ending but now reading the lyrics, they're the best part of the endings For example, the last song is an answer of Eren to the first song (Mikasa focused )
I highly recommend watching the full version of the 7th ending. There is a very popular video with the lyrics and edited with scenes from the anime and the ending itself. The lyrics are very important.
That was Ending 3, and yes it help spoilers out of context, but people didn't know what they were about! Even manga-readers were speculating and formulating conclusions, it was very fun! This show is just well rounded on all ends, music, epicness, story, graphics, character development, fantasy, realism, meaning...
I smiled the whole video!!! your enthusiasm is always sooo infectious, and like i totally get your awe at watching endings for a show you know! It has been a treat rewatching AOT with you, and here's to watching the finale to one of our lifetime's masterpieces
The most hilarious fact about ending 3 is that Isayama himself storyboarded it and shown things that weren't even in the manga by that time. Truly the definition of getting spoiled
Ending 3 is this way because Isayama had the entire series planned out before he started it. At this point, the manga hadn't even reached the part shown in Ed 3.
Crazy thing is when season 2 came out and so did ending 3, even the manga wasn't yet at the point of the story where all those thing were showed. So not only it was new to anime-only's but also to manga readers
Ending 3 is not just a spoiler for anime onlies, but for manga readers as well, because the events portrayed in the ending, by the time s2 is out, has not yet been written, get this, EVEN IN THE MANGA. It's like Isayama : "Put these images in the ending." Director : "What does those images mean?" Isayama : "Just put it it."
Probably someone said this already but not even the manga readers of the day understood what was being shown in ending 3. The foreshadowing goes back that far in time, Mr. Isayama's writing is that of a mastermind. 8:18 That "lady titan" is a painting of Ymir. Notice the shine in the hand she's raising, that's the light a titan shifter emits during transformation. The light is forming the Eldian star, symbol later used to mark the subjects of Ymir within the continent. The other eight men and women kneeling next to her are the nine Titans. However the painting is torn in an "X" shape, signaling the world's hatred for The Founder and the Eldian Empire. This painting is of Eldian origin. That's because it depicts Ymir as a divine being, the goddess of the people's of Eldia who led them into greatness. Paintings of Ymir from other places show her as a common woman standing next to an enormous demonic creature. That's because the rest of the world saw the Eldian Empire and its titans as devilish creatures who came from hell to ravage, rape and pillage anything that they crossed paths with.
Izayama is a genius of foreshadowing and it's completely fine that he spoiled several things in the endings (and openings) because honestly people can't make the connection until they actually reached that part of the anime and understand the context. By the way, each ED has a focus character(s): ED 1 - Mikasa ED 2 - Attack Titan (spoiled reiner, berthold, ymir and historia were hiding something being represented in the other side of the wall) ED 3 - Ymir (also spoiled the whole past history of Ymir and gave away there were other societies) ED 4 - Historia ED 5 - Scouts ED 6 - Falco (also spoiled he's the next beast titan represented by the bird and he's reaching the coordinate) ED 7 - Eren (back to E1 as you noticed and the parallel that this was always him but Mikasa couldn't see) There's several other parallels in ED7 with birds (always symbolizing the seek of freedom) but in ED7 Eren realizes the giant cage his freedom seek led as now he's the only person in the world who's locked inside it's own created bootstrap paradox.
It would be great if you watched the openings and endings with subtitles. Season 4's second opening and ending is pretty much told from the perspective of Eren. Yep, that third ending, the one for the second season, literally tells the story of Ymir and Eldia. It's all spoilers if you pay attention lol. The openings are even wilder with the foreshadowing. Also, in case you didn't know, Ymir's flashback in Season 2 showed the paths (the "tree" where all Subjects of Ymir are connected). The anime does shift some scenes around that were in the manga, but Isayama definitely had a vision of what he wanted the story to be.
ED 3 is fantastic because it's like most of your reactions - contextless and very mysterious. Lots of people theorized on what the visuals meant, and it only began to make sense in the season 3 basement reveal. The "lady titan" depicts Ymir's Founding Titan as a goddess. That same image (the Nine Titans) is later shown in season 3, in Grisha's flashback with the other Eldian Restorationists.
My dude that is the right ending 3. Yessss it's crazy to think the spoilers without context lmao. Like, they literally showed Ymir's daughters eating her but we didn't know anything at the time. The also showed Ymir and "the devil of all Earths". Also, the rumbling it's shown there 💀.
You've got 5 OVAs left to react to: OVA 2 (please react to the opening for that one), 3, and the 3 Lost Girls OVAs (pls react to the ending for this). And this might be wild, but how about checking out Attack on Titan: Junior High
I've never really been into the whole "reaction" genre but you have really made this an extremely enjoyable experience and have watched every AoT video when they got uploaded. I have to say the thing I enjoyed the most from your reactions is the pure joy on your face from listening to the music or when a plot point just clicks for you. Been so much fun and looking forward to your next planned series. Keep up the amazing work!
I remember seeing that ending with the spoiler moments, and not thinking anything of it. Since I've watched so many anime, I've gotten used to the idea that not everything in an ending has meaning. And then Ymir's backstory happened and the internet realized they'd been shown the future on the sly lol makes you wonder what other ending moments might have hidden meanings once the specials air.
after saw the rumbling AOT and rewatch ending 3 is hit different like u been summon devil all this time not a savior humanity... and plus this ending is foreshadowing the event end of AOT. even the manga reader cant handle this one
Btw, they did show us Ymir getting eaten. In season 3's final episode when Historia reads Ymir's letter she gets glimpses of Ymir's memories, including her being on one of those pedestal/chained things, which we know are for passing down titans as the royal family used them.
Yeah, after a certain episode, ED1 make me think, that the mangaka trolled us into thinking the show is about Eren, but it actually continues with Mikasa as MC. ED3 even spoiled manga readers. Of course nobody understood what it means. But shows that Isayama had everything already planned out from the start. ED6 (Final Season Ending 1, which I guess is ED7 here) is my favorite, it gave me goosebumps every time.
Ending 3 blows my mind to this day. I remember watching it and being like "what the f is even going on in this." The foreshadowing is next level in this show

ED 3 is so damn creepy to me. Love it. And yes it is spoilers but no one really knew it’s meaning at the time.
AoT is the first anime to spoil the manga readers
Yeah its important to emphasize that when this released, not even the manga was at the point that got "spoiled".
It shows "spoilers" that you won't be able to understand until you get far enough to make them not spoilers anymore.
If that makes sense.

The craziest thing about ending 3 is that it was telling us information that hasn’t even happened in the MANGA at that point

Luke is the kind of guy who'll pause the song when it's getting on the good part.
They did show Yimir getting eaten. It's only a couple of frames after Historia touches Yimir's letter.
I think Luke might shed a tear if he knew the lyric for the last ending 😂
it's definitely amazing that you're getting to have context for these now... especially given the perspective of how far the characters have come since the beginning.
Finally! I've been waiting for this for the past 95 episodes
Yes the last ending is a reply to the first one. The new one released tommorow is called "under the tree' let's see what it will be
Dud u gotta have to check out the last ending with the subtitles MANNN. It hits like a truck when u understand the what it's singing bout
when the special ending was going on and my man spoke, i literally tried to shut him up with my hand lmao
My man, you have to do this before the new episodes! Hiroyuki Sawano's Attack on Titan suite emU. He's the legendary AOT music composer!
I love how the thumbnail went from "this is anime?" to "this was anime"?
Just out of curiousity, why did you switch back to "Non Anime Fan" in the title?
Ending 3 was always one of my favorites. Yes, it did show things that wouldn't be fully revealed until later in the show, but because they didn't really explain what they were showing, you didn't really get spoiled on the history, rather it gave the tone/feeling of that history. Sure you could guess and piece some of it together, but never anything concrete.
The fun thing is that ending 3 has those massive spoilers!! I didn't even noticed it when i saw the series for the first time! hahahaha
Lyrics for ending 7 and those visuals, ngl can make you emotional at the point when it airs.
Now, you must again to the last ending but now reading the lyrics, they're the best part of the endings
For example, the last song is an answer of Eren to the first song (Mikasa focused )
This show is just well rounded on all ends, music, epicness, story, graphics, character development, fantasy, realism, meaning...
watch the last subtitled. The lyrics make a lot of sense when you understand what Eren is doing.
I smiled the whole video!!! your enthusiasm is always sooo infectious, and like i totally get your awe at watching endings for a show you know!
It has been a treat rewatching AOT with you, and here's to watching the finale to one of our lifetime's masterpieces
The lyrics for the last ending are fantastic.
The last ending is a response to the first ending, you should really watch those 2 back to back with subs for the lyrics, its just fantastic :D
It's like
Isayama : "Put these images in the ending."
Director : "What does those images mean?"
Isayama : "Just put it it."
Probably someone said this already but not even the manga readers of the day understood what was being shown in ending 3. The foreshadowing goes back that far in time, Mr. Isayama's writing is that of a mastermind.
8:18
That "lady titan" is a painting of Ymir.
By the way, each ED has a focus character(s):
ED 1 - Mikasa
ED 2 - Attack Titan (spoiled reiner, berthold, ymir and historia were hiding something being represented in the other side of the wall)
ED 3 - Ymir (also spoiled the whole past history of Ymir and gave away there were other societies)
ED 4 - Historia
ED 5 - Scouts
ED 6 - Falco (also spoiled he's the next beast titan represented by the bird and he's reaching the coordinate)
ED 7 - Eren (back to E1 as you noticed and the parallel that this was always him but Mikasa couldn't see)
There's several other parallels in ED7 with birds (always symbolizing the seek of freedom) but in ED7 Eren realizes the giant cage his freedom seek led as now he's the only person in the world who's locked inside it's own created bootstrap paradox.
Ending 7 is also from erens pov, need one with lyrics
ED 3 is fantastic because it's like most of your reactions - contextless and very mysterious. Lots of people theorized on what the visuals meant, and it only began to make sense in the season 3 basement reveal. The "lady titan" depicts Ymir's Founding Titan as a goddess. That same image (the Nine Titans) is later shown in season 3, in Grisha's flashback with the other Eldian Restorationists.
Mate. I have to say that your journey through attack on titan has been one of the most fun watching. I'm looking forward to other animes with you!
There is a "The First Take" version of that last ending you found amazing ! Since this song is very emotional I highly recommend it :)
Last ending hits deeper with lyrics!!!
You must watch last again with english lyrics, it's 🔥
My dude that is the right ending 3. Yessss it's crazy to think the spoilers without context lmao.
Like, they literally showed Ymir's daughters eating her but we didn't know anything at the time. The also showed Ymir and "the devil of all Earths". Also, the rumbling it's shown there 💀.
Now you need to watch the OVAs you don't watched
You've got 5 OVAs left to react to: OVA 2 (please react to the opening for that one), 3, and the 3 Lost Girls OVAs (pls react to the ending for this). And this might be wild, but how about checking out Attack on Titan: Junior High
Ending 1 Mikasa said :"The world is cruel, but also beautiful". 😭
Ending 7 Eren said :"The world is cruel, but i still love you"😭
yeah ed 3 no one knew it made us guessing it was amazing and ominous
Ending 3 isn't the only time the anime intentionally leaves out "spoilers" for the story.
Can u watch the last Ending with subtitles? Same goes for op 7, the lyrics are really interesting and explain some more things
Akuma no Ko (ending 8) literally hits different when you check on the lyrics...
You NEED to watch those with subtitles the endings tell a story in itself
Also don't forget you still have the "lost girls" OVA of AOT,you should definitely check it out
I remember seeing that ending with the spoiler moments, and not thinking anything of it. Since I've watched so many anime, I've gotten used to the idea that not everything in an ending has meaning. And then Ymir's backstory happened and the internet realized they'd been shown the future on the sly lol makes you wonder what other ending moments might have hidden meanings once the specials air.
ED 3 was a head nod to the manga readers at the time - easily the most impactful ED in the whole series.
8:40
What is more funny they had shown this before this happened in manga, so that was a manga spoilers, too.
I believe that the spoilers in the openings/endings are proposital so you have an "Eren experience" seeing glimpses from the future!
after saw the rumbling AOT and rewatch ending 3 is hit different like u been summon devil all this time not a savior humanity... and plus this ending is foreshadowing the event end of AOT. even the manga reader cant handle this one
7:20 it was actually the ending three. i guess no one realized about the spoilers till the last season 😆
I remember watching it and being like "what the f is even going on in this." The foreshadowing is next level in this show
So excited to see the season 2 ending 👀👀👀👀👀
