      I miss the old skill tree...
      I feel confused when I rummage through the new one from time to time. Oftentimes I'm looking for intersecting nodes and finding them just is not as obvious as it used to be in the old tree.
      With that said, the new tree is still way more useful for me personally, than the automated suggestions box.

      Cheerful (and light-hearted, humour-filled) schadenfreude: That's how you get emails sent to you that totally (don't) misrepresent a conversation you had with someone, with those emails ending with the tag line: "No need to reply if there is nothing that you want to add to or amend in the above summary." Your responsibility to read your emails, correct? Your hazard if you don't.

    • @Ren-0
      @Ren-0 14 днів тому +6

      @@citypavement I don’t think that’s what Kirith was trying to say-they were just expressing a preference for the skill tree. Personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with presenting ads like this. It was clear to me within the first 10 seconds that it was an ad, so I didn’t feel tricked into watching it. I actually kept watching because I found it entertaining. I also don’t see it as clickbait, the guides were shown in the thumbnail and the title includes "my team", which makes it clear it’s a video about the company.

    • @citypavement
      @citypavement 14 днів тому

      @@Ren-0 I could have swore I replied to a different comment that was more relevant. In any case, I am old and from a time when clickbait was anything stupidly named like "You won't believe THIS happened!" I already clicked it and after the first 10 seconds it's too late to take it back, rewarding this behaviour. I probably overreacted but it was disappointing to think it was actually of substance before clicking.

    in the guide Dr K mentions which things you should watch next, and that you should do one thing for weeks before starting the next. or other mentions of limits on how much you should watch in a day…. that doesn’t line yup with how any of the guide works. i feel like it would be better if it just generated google calendar items or something. or just had a timeline or calendar of some kind so we know exactly what and when

    I think I understand both sides here. After working for a bit on a skill-tree'ish project I eventually realized that its only redeeming qualities are that it looks nice, explains the area in broad strokes and reflects the amount of effort that went into it, but actually navigating it is kind of a chore, and a plain list of available next steps is much easier to work with.

    As a random guy that doesn't have an HG account, I'd say having a link straight to the Checkout page on this video's description is a bad call;
    It's the first thing you see when you want to look into more information, and you won't get much of it since it's the checkout page, the actual guide with the products contents is hidden behind a 'show more' button on the description.
    Maybe it was on purpose so the user could see 'oh this is a thing I can buy/pay for' with the least amount of clicks, but in that case you should add a big link to the guide on the checkout page so people have more context on what's going on or in case they need a refresher on what they're purchasing before getting money involved.

    Love the new approach, as it is easier to navigate via phone.
    But it's good that old one is kept for those who prefer it more

    I like both. The recommendation stuff helps with decision paralysis but sometimes I want to learn about ADHD and depression is recommended, as an example. I love being able to just glance at the skill tree though and see my completion percentages going up lol. Just slowly coloring in the map.

    I'm with the Doctor on this one, I love the skill tree. Having these personalized lists just makes it feel too disconnected. I need to see where I'm going.
    Don't get me wrong, I love the sorting for the Meditations, that's fine. I just need the tree man.

    I understand the need to shape the guide for people who aren't necessarily gamers. I feel like most people i've told about HG aren't gamers, but I still love the fact that the skill tree is still there.

    I didn't know your course had a skill tree. I'm going to save money to join it, because the dollar conversion makes it extremely high in Brazil.
    I've been looking for a gamified approach for mental health and chronic illness.
    From the video, it seems like you worked a lot on that skill tree. It's interesting and exciting. Why would your team insist on making it a playlist model? Spotify is getting torn apart every other day for the excess of playlists and making everything into a playslist. You don't listen to music anymore, you are fed endless playlists that "know" exactly how you're feeling and what you've experienced... The example might be a little extreme, but the playlist trend is saturated. Don't market it as a playlist, at least.
    Also, The Skill Tree has so much more to do with your brand. If you wanna go mainstream, ok. But the ones that actually spend money are NEVER the mainstream audience. Just do a skill tree more adapted to mainstream, then. But never abandon your "niche," because they are the ones who spend money. They are the ones who stay.
