Can this old grandmother pick up her bike? 🤔

- I don't know how but I never thought much about dropping my Honda GoldWing in the 20 years I have been riding it. I guess I thought if I did there would be someone to help me pick it up. Or I would try the training technique I learned right after I bought it. The GW doesn't turn all the way over on its side because of the protective bars that are on it. So you should be able to back up to it sitting on the seat and walk it back up. 20 years ago I could do that, not so sure I could now at 66 years old. My strength is not what it used to be. Hopefully I will not have to try to pick it up alone anytime soon. But I do need to practice to see if I can or buy or make a Jack to pick it up with.
Now that I have purchased two dual sport bikes it has come to my attention that I will need to be able to pick these bikes up. I ride alone a lot and in remote areas, so help may not come for a long time.
In this video I am trying and succeeding for the first time on two of the lifts but still can't perform the backing up to the bike to lift it. I know there is a way to do it I just haven't gotten the technique down yet. Maybe my legs aren't strong enough, I don't know. This was also the first time I had tried the Jack that my husband cut down to fit in my top case, it is made from simple tent poles but needs to be put together in a certain way and I obviously had not practiced that. 🙂
So anyway it wasn't pretty but I did get the job done, I lifted the bike off the ground and that is the important thing. I at least know that I can do it if I have to. I don't enjoy it and my body hurts while I am doing it and afterwards for a couple days. So I will try hard not to drop the bikes but we all know it will eventually happen.

I was silently cheering you on each time! I love you could do if. I remember practicing that in my MSF course back in 1987. I was amazed! You could do this several times per week and make a workout if it! 😁💪🏋️♀️

That’s pretty neat way to lift your bike some people make it look so easy not for me when I took my coarse twenty some years ago that was one thing they made us do. They had small bikes and I was twenty some years younger Good invention take care be safe
Thank you! It's definitely not easy for me lifting the bikes but the Jack is pretty easy to use. We just need to work on the Jack so it lifts the bike up higher.

Yes you may have to go back a year or so, just look for the white trike. I tried to share a photo here but UA-cam won't let me.
