There used to a shanty village on the lake too, that only got cleared out within the last 40 years. CCL remained "seedy" through the 1980s, as the upper pavilion bathrooms were infamous "cruising locations" for men.

Shot through the eye and survived? That's one tough, and one very lucky guy!

    Pistol fights?
    Distilleries?
Is this seedy behavior? I thought this was America! 😁

As a teenager in the late 70s and early eighties, the upper part of the park was where to be seen, where guys could show off their car, chat up all the ladies and do what most teenagers did back then 😁. There would be bumper-to-bumper cars just making loops in the park all day long, it became so popular that the park officials actually started to charge an entrance fee to the park to quell the amount of young people coming to the park. Creve Coeur Park has never been as popular since.

Was like that well into the 2000s, never was a fee unless an event. The REN FEST with wooden horses on rope tracks for jousting was off the chain~

@@YoginJ I can guarantee you it has never been like that since. I'm sure it's still a popular park, but back then it was absolutely crazy and unsustainable the way it was backing up traffic on the main roads leading to the park daily.

That's where I was born and from, but never was home for it has such an odd creepy history. I visited Creve Cour lake park a year ago finding it most peculiar, but peaceful with a sense of being safe compared to a past history. When you go there, you can feel the negative energy and oddness in the land that some really horrible things happened. I thought for years it was a nuclear weapons pollution like out in Bush Wildlife area, but yea, Saint Louis and America was to be a failed state of murder had it not been propped up in 1945 as the super power of the world claiming the great victory. However, that era is over and we're now entering this new world age that is to take bizarre to a whole new level. I don't guess we have a country n or a community actually left that is our country and community for it never was actually my country.
