Let's clean and declutter! 15 minutes in Flylady Zone 2 - New Year, New You! Diane in Denmark - I’m here to be your cheerleader! Are you ready to get organized? I love using the Flylady and Getting Things Done systems! Come and join me on Instagram! instagram.com/dianeindenmark/
Here I am, watching your old videos. I'm in a stressful season of life right now, but watching/listening to you clean your home is so comforting. (Don't worry, I'm also getting a few things done while you are cleaning up!) Thank you, Diane. You are a wonderful person and a bright spot in a dark world.
My husband is laughing at me as he can’t believe I watch someone doing their housework 😂😂 Watching you always reminds me of little things I need to do like dust behind radiators 😱😂 have a good day x
I am watching Diane because I am on a breakfast break after doing some zone cleaning . As usual you demonstrate how consistency pays off. I managed to keep up with my zones and started the new year feeling great about that so l did my kitchen last week. I look forward to working along with you tomorrow in the bathroom and one other if that's where you are. I think it is a great idea to work a week of all the zones after a long holiday away or to reset after visitors . You make the flylady system look easy. Your clean and tidy house reminds me how calm the home can be when there is no clutter and hot spots are dealt with before going to bed. Did you do a wh blessing yesterday to clean floors etc as I noticed you didn't do the floors in this week videos. I just guessed you dealt with that before starting the videos. I was so lucky to get my windows done inside and out by my trusty window cleaner just a few days ago. I just love clean windows and as he usually does them each month it eliminates that job for me here in Wales. I will be working along with you tomorrow. We have had some awful rain and wind here but thank goodness we were able to get out to morning worship on Sunday. I really need some outdoor exercise to help with the winter blahs. Where are your hyacinths this year. I need some flowers to brighten my windows and dining table. Have a wonderful day and thank you so much for sharing and cheering us on. Love from Margaret
Hello my friend, Margaret! Yes, hyacinths as usual...there's one on the kitchen windowsill (the one next to the sink) - didn't you spot it? Time to clean your glasses? 😅
Getting ready to clean in the bathrooms. I really like not feeling the need to do the entire room at once. It makes cleaning much easier to get through!
I used to resist the timer so much. Thank you for mentioning it over and over so that it sank in. I've used it a couple of times now. One, it is amazing to notice how much you can get done in only 15 minutes. Two, it does get you going, knowing you can stop. You are excellent at what you do!
Happy New Year to you and your family. Got our son back off to Uni last weekend and now wanting to get back into "full" routines. Had to laugh when he mentioned he is going to focus on "gonnados" before "wonnados" so he could have more time to enjoy the beautiful city of Cambridge instead of procrastinating too much. He came out with the saying "discipline is freedom" - don't know where that came from - but it warms the heart to here it! LOL nearly done and dishwasher emptied, now to tackle the bathroom. Have a lovely day and keep putting one foot in front of the other! Lorna
I looked into the fly lady system a while ago but it honestly didn't stick because I was overwhelmed. Thanks to your great videos it's a part of my routine now and it was so helpful to do the baby steps. Your videos are so motivational :)
Yes! Diane you explain the system so well. I don’t have time to watch the original fly lady waffle on for an hour and greet everyone who signs in. I have to work full time so am time poor...
I always get so much from your videos. Your quick, brief asides are meaningful. Plus your thorough demonstration of your routines are great in real time examples for us. This is always pure gold for me.
Happy Tuesday, Diane🎉🎉🎉 Love the design of your "skirting" boards, your counters, and even your marble sills!" I am walking on the treadmill as I listen. I have been faithfully listening yet just have not commented as much lately. Yesterday, I loved your idea of doing a zone each day of this week. I needed that " RESET" with the start of this New Year!! It is helping me because yesterday, I had a case of the " I don't wannas!!" But! after watching your video yesterday, I was energized!! I worked in the kitchen and put in new drawer bins. Opening the drawers now makes me HAPPY! Decluttered an ice cream scoop! Started paint touch up on a cabinet door. Then, as a reward, bought a wee Hyacinth flower bulb for $3 in a wee glass vase! Then, finished most of our Happy New Year's cards🎉🎉🎉, knitted a dish scrubbie, read my book, and had a cup of earl grey tea🍵 Today, I will work along with you in the kitchen after my gym workout. Your sweater looks pretty on you! 😁My declutter item for today is: A winter coat that is a T4 ( not me) dark color of indigo/ purple & feels "too heavy."
Thanks Dianne, I've decided that my word/theme for this year will be consistency. I'm 39 and don't think I've ever been consistent with anything in my life! It's been quite liberating ;-)
Thank you for talking about handling that mood of “I don’t feel like doing it.” I set my timer for 12 minutes and I beat the clock, because it only took 10. Now it is over and done with and it’s looking nice.
You give me inspiration to get going...while in lockdown, it's been easier to do the cleaning because what else can we do...right!! Have a lovely day today x
I’m on trip away from home this week; lying around and indulging in lots of reading. 🥰 However, this video makes me want to get back home and clean! 🤣 Hope you’re having a great day, Diane!💗
This morning I had an appointment at 9:15 for fasting bloodwork so I couldn’t eat breakfast until later. To take my mind off food, I did my 15 minutes in the kitchen! It felt good to have that done when I finally got to eat breakfast. I’m enjoying switching zones each day. Hope the rain stops in Copenhagen! Thank you, Diane.
I use strong cleaners because we live in an area with extremely hard water, and my husband refuses to have the water softener hooked up to the cold water line. So, I deal with a LOT of mineral build-up. Even at the hotel where I worked as a housekeeper for a few months, if the bathroom wasn't cleaned every single day, the build-up was 10 times harder to get off, and they softened the water. I had one memorable experience when the guy was only staying two days and didn't want his room cleaned until he left, and it took an hour to get the bathroom clean (it normally took 5 or 10 minutes). If you don't use strong cleaners, you'll either be cleaning constantly or you'll have to use extremely abrasive scrubbers. Vinegar works, but it literally takes hours and I can't stand the smell.
Morning Diane I missed your video last week Its lovely to see you again Once again thank you so much for your videos God bless you and your family always
Thanks for the cheerleading Dianne, It's been 8 months for me following the flylady system and I've become consistent with my daily routines thanks to your motivation. I'll also do the odd 15 min declutter or clean, but haven't got round to mastering any zone cleaning yet. That's what my aim is for this year, keep putting one foot in front of the other and adding In those zones....thanks again, Christine xx
Diane, Good morning fron Toronto, Canada. You are an inspiration. I love looking at your videos while having my breakfast. You are so right. Consistency is the key. Then it only takes a matter of minutes. My hot spot is the basement and spare bedroom that I just put things. The 15 minute timer does wonders as I do not become overwhelmed. You motivate me. Thankd Diane and have a wonderful day,
I never dusted high up until I started watching your videos, sooo much better with consistent dusting...love your videos, love your energy in the morning, even if you feel slower. Thanks for sharing yourself!
Did planning for the week. Just have a shower to scrub today. Will make quiche for dinner. Have some odd jobs to finish up and a reservation to make. Grey day with slight snow. Slushy and miserable outside so cosy inside with hot tea and a good mystery.
I started following you and the secret slob some time in December. (Way too much because I let it play in the background whilst working on data entry, hahah) I've picked up several habits and routines and have been pretty successful. I just had to share what I've learned from you and ss: 1) Other people's baseboards aren't miraculously clean all the time. They actually get cleaned. Not sure why that was lost on me. ;-) 2) I'm no longer grossed out when I drop a dishcloth or towel into the sink or on the floor. 3) I was making real progress after a week only to have it all come crumbling down when I had dh declutter the tool shed (it all landed in the foyer while I sold things online). So, it gets worse before it gets better. I'm just now feeling like I'm making progress again. And it really does get easier. Since I already did a thorough zone clean in the kitchen last month, there really wasn't much to do this month. Just stay on top of the gunk that gets on the cabinets...again, dagnabit. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
I'm watching you whilst eating a banana! LOL. There's nothing to do at work right now. I LOVE your outfit!! Such a beautiful sweater. Goes great with those pants. Btw...this is the way I like to clean my home: my morning routine, breakfast, then some zone cleaning (5 zones, 1 for each day M-F). Had to move anti-procrastination day to Saturdays because we had too much going on during the week. BTW #2...I love your windows. Had been wanting to ask you about them, but I didn't want to be nosy. Currently designing my dream home, and I don't like too much furniture to clutter up the place. But I still wants space for plants and such. Your wide windowsills are perfect. Thanks for the inspiration. =)
For the 3rd time I attempted the baby steps, but I found every time I start them I fail after a few days, so for this whole month I'm focusing on just shining my sink every night and will have another crack at the baby steps once I have the new habit drilled into me, so far 14 days of a beautiful shiny sink!
So far it's been 8 months for me, and all I've managed is to do are my routines every day, and some small declutters.....keep going with your shiny sink and then just add on one thing every day, you can do it!
Di I've just binged Wallander on netflix made me think of you as it's based in Sweden and Copenhagen what a show .....that Ken Branagh is bloody brilliant x
Diane: 'You aren't supposed to be watching me, you are supposed to be working along with me'........ Me: Sitting at the dinette eating a bowl of porridge and a pot of tea enjoying watching Diane clean......🤓 Another great video and I will watch again and do my 'follow along' as soon as I have finished my breakfast ha ha X
Diane I'd be interested to know how you get on with your window bird feeder. We put one up a few weeks ago, on the kitchen window. We use sunflower seeds and a suet block. The birds completely ignore it! We plan to entice them by putting some on the ground first, near the window. I suppose the mild winter means that they are not desperate for food as they might be some years.
Every time I see your videos you motivate me either by talking or by doing something, but I see although you are consistent to cleaning its better to remove all plates and things off the table until you finish your feather dusting because may be a bunny dust here or there fall on it 👍👍🌹🌹❤❤
Happy 2020. Thanks again for the motivation. I’m watching / listening to your zone refresher and using as motivation to declutter all of my holiday bins this week.
