Onward used to be my go-to because of the tactical feel. But as much as the PCVR downgrade around two years ago hurt, what's worse is that very little has been added or improved on since then. Meanwhile, Contractors seems to have maintained much better graphics even with crossplay, and the modding potential is much better. The devs have even added in physical weapon collisions recently. So for my PvP fix I'm waiting for someone to popularise a hardcore mode in that along with adding more tacticool weapons and attachments. For co-op though, I'm waiting for Geronimo which looks like a proper tactical shooter for PCVR with no compromises.
Great analysis with all points well covered. My preference over the others is Pavlov's Push mode, the feeling of a great battle that it gives you is incredible.
I played Onward while visiting my cousin last weekend, and I had a blast! I personally love how low the time to kill is, and how the AIs will just mercilessly rush you, forcing you to play very strategically to avoid being rushed by too many enemies. I was sometimes forced to use the sidearm, since I didn't have time to reload my main weapon, and using flashbangs to blind enemies (and myself) was very fun. Judging from this video, the other games seem much more polished, but I still think that Onward is definitely worth the money, and I would probably go for it if I had my own VR headset.
Late reply but I used to think the same and mainly played onward for months, but after playing games like contractors and ghosts of Tabor it really shows how unpolished onward is. Guess I got spoiled by the vr golden standard of gunplay.
Tbh I disagree. Contractors and Pavlov are small maps and just run around and spray enemies. There’s not a lot of tactic involved nor is there as much skill as there is needed in Onward. Onward is fun because you HAVE to play good and have good aim, otherwise two shots and you’re dead. The graphics aren’t as good as Pavlov or Contractors but I personally MUCH prefer a game where skill is a must compared to a game where spray-n-pray is the best way to play. In terms of experience and immersiveness Onward is definitely the best.
@@real_e Yeah, I've got a VR headset now, and Onward is definitely my favorite. Enemies that can actually aim and kill you quick makes it so much more tense and forces you to play tactically.
I like to play with a VR gunstock and I play all 3 shooters with it. I play with heavily modded "Magtube" gunstock from ProtubeVR that allows me to use pistols and dual wield two weapons that can fire in one direction. My gunstock is tuned for Pavlov becuse it's my #1 VR shooter. Here's what you can expect in terms of gunstock support from each VR shooter: Pavlov: Doesn't have a traditional gunstock support, but in Shack RC version they have the Gun angle adjustment tool which will also be in the future update for PC version. It allows you to change controller angle of every gun. Pistols and RPG too. You can even use your gunstock with VStock which other two games don't allow it. It's better to play Pavlov with a gunstock that has a lot of adjustment, such as Protube or Mamut gunstocks. Contractors: Has a good gunstock calibration that allows you to adjust every primary weapon. It just works and I've had no problems with it except... For some reason you can't adjust pistols and pistols has awful angles with Quest 2 controllers that can be hard to use even free handed. Using pistols with a gunstock can give you a stability advantage in VR shooters. Onward: The gunstock calibration in Onward is worse than in Contractors. You can't just move weapons up/down which can be a problem with weapons that have sights too high. Adjusted weapons in Contractors always stay in adjusted position even when you hold them with one hand. In Onward, as soon as you let one hand off a weapon, it bounces back to its default position without adjustment. I had a problem reloading some guns because of that, and if you wan't to keep your eye on the weapon sight/scope while reloading you probably won't be able. No pistols and RPG support. Some of the downsides can be solved if you adjust your gunstock for your main VR shooter, but it would be great if we had a standart for gunstock calibration in every VR shooter.

I just got a quest 2 and have been trying to figure out which games I should get first so this was really helpful! I wasn't sure which one of the more realistic shooters to get and this really helped me sort it out! Going to for sure get Contractors now! Thank you!
Definitely recommend Contractors, it's mod support was dumbed way too down in this video, they got full halo, star wars, cod, and many many other things.
The most realistic one I guess is onward but its graphics arent that good pavlov's graphics are medium but contractors are honestly the best out of the 3
Realistic is onward. But imo the devs and players ruined it. I'd stick with contractors. Even though it's the most "COD" of the three the mods will allow you to easily play Halo, Star wars, and Cod zombies (Test level) and all mods are easy to obtain through the game menu.
Onward fucking killed itself. Contractors and Pavlov are for sure competing with each other. Geronimo is probably when I really dive into the VR shooters as that is mostly what I'm looking for personally.
I used to be a Pavlov geek but then bought contractors not to long ago, and I haven’t touched Pavlov since, I used to always play black ops on my Xbox 360 and modern warfare on my Xbox 1, and the fact that contractors have all the maps and halo and Star Wars mods, definitely best oculus shooter game

Amazing video comparing the three. Just recently left Pavlov because all I would find is TTT lobbies and it just wasn't for me. I was just asking how was contractors vs pavlov, since I only played pavlov and I love it!, so if there is something better out there I need to play it
@franciscojoseolivero3409 star wars is great and the maps are awesome. The default mode is more realistic and harder than pavlov. All in all a nice game to add to the library. Pavlov was getting too easy for me, and the maps too repetitive.
I have all 3, and my go-to is still onward. I absolutely love the tactical feel, and most of the players I run into aren't annoying kids. The fan base is also a lot more talkative and very toxic (but in the fun way). There is tk, so sometimes new teammates will shoot you on accident, but overall I think it's the best because of the community. I've also made a lot more friends in onward because almost everyone has a mic in those servers.
Onward really needs some more modes and weapons/ gadgets. Now that they’ve “finished” with the backend stuff hopefully we’ll get a lot more meaningful content.
As a quest user I personally love all 3 as they provide different feels and ways to play. And on quest the graphics look amazing on all 3 (for quest 2)
In Pavlov It's a lot easier to play akimbo style. You have two slots for pistols, a gun in your hand swaps to a holstered gun when you release grip button near a holstered weapon slot. You can buy guns in any amount you can afford. Two pistols can rival rifles in TTK if you hit all of your shots in short amount of time. In Contractors you can't have two pistols in one loadout. Reloading two guns is slower because of ammo placement on your chest and you can't easly swap guns with one hand like Pavlov. In Onward you can't even hold two guns.
For me I would list contractors and onward to be tied because of my love for both fast paced shooters and strategic tactical shooters. Pavlov is mostly run around and shoot not much thought than that. The only time I really play Pavlov is when there is a good SnD server up or when there is a push lobby that has dday as the map. And because I do this I’ve been a pretty known player amongst those that play ww2 push or SnD because of how often I like playing. But in general I see nothing wrong with owning all three of these games. If u one day want that chaotic fun shooter or a good ww2 match I recommend playing Pavlov, the push community is very chill and I often find myself having a blast. U may find a squeaker here and there but mostly u can just kick them or leave. If u one day are feeling that little bit more fast paced shooter contractors is probably the way to go. The community is chill and gunplay is perfection. And if u want that tactical experience one day onward is definitely a great pick I’ve seen clips and it looks great and the community seems chill but like Pavlov the occasional squeaker will be in a lobby now and then, and I will eventually get it myself. Owning all of these games is probably the best option because you’ll be able to quench almost any want in a shooter if u own all three, meaning u have a good amount of options available.
ive had some issues with contractors in the past. it feels clunky to me, and it could be because im left handed. the other 2, pavlov and onward are more forgiving on this front for me which i appreciate. Other shooters i play are larcenauts, hyper dash, gun raiders when im doing quest standalone, but mostly i play pavlov on PC as my go to. With new updates coming and the current beta port over, I feel pavlov will be making some larger strides this year
Did hours of research between the 3, and even Ghosts of Tabor s my first quest 2 game. Contractors fit the bill and have never looked back. I was never a huge COD black ops fan but I find myself with a WW2 loadout and thompson hip firing nazis on nuketown more often than not. Amazing game.
Personally I prefer Pavlov out of the three as it has the best weapons and movement IMO, and for those interested it's the only one that didn't downgrade the PC version for crossplay. (Although personally i'm not too bothered by that if it means higher player counts) I really liked the fact you can have server-side mods in Contractors that can be used in all maps, and really hope that comes to Pavlov one day that'd be fun. And yeah the custom workshop maps look far superior in Pavlov, tried several out in Contractors and almost none looked as good which is a shame, Contractors has a lot of potential to be a really good VR game one day if they can improve the modding support and if modders can make better looking maps in future.
@@SINfromPL lol wth you talking about lmao active playercount barely goes above 500,2 million?are you nuts? at least if youre gonna lie,do it more realistically.
Way back when I first got the games it was way different then I thought, I thought pavlov would the the best, contractors the worst, and onwards the middle. Instead It was onward worst, Pavlov middle, and contractors best. Onwards was one of the first vr games I played so maybe that’s why but still it just so slow paste. Pavlov never gets updates and got stale And contractors is really fun, less realistic better with people in my opinion and the mods with the recent support is amazing!
i like onwards because you get both really tactical players and goofballs just screwing around and it makes things interesting, and even playerbase doesnt feel that toxic
Ranking(in my opinion) 1. Contractors, mod support is superior by far to everything else. Including full blown star wars, halo, cod zombies and many many many other things. 2. Pavlov, pretty fun if your on pc I rank this higher than Contractors but on quest it's alright. 3. Onward, really fun tactical gameplay it's really fun but the other two are still much better.
Contractors all the way now, alone for the amazing mods like Bops1 Kino der Toten Zombies, Star Wars Battlefront and many others, all ways something new every time I come back to it. Used to love Pavlov but it feels kinda dead nowadays
Zombies in Pavlov is my favorite one just because of how fast and terrifying those s.o.b. are. Always had hope for Contractors and really happy to see the player base and content grow so fast! Onward…. Y’all really screwed the pooch on this one.
Really? It's so simple, though. Maybe you should look at After the Fall. Pure coop zombies. The weapons are closer to Onward in terms of visuals/handling but actual sprawling levels full of zombie variety beats the pants off Pavlov's zombie mode.
Onward is poorly low quality to a point of a joke, Pavlov is dead and the developers silently abandoned it and left it up to the community to keep it alive with servers and such and haven’t worked on the game in over a year. Contractors needs polishing in certain areas but if you don’t care about seeing the bullet in the chamber or tiny non game affecting issues with the gun models like the colliding chambered bullet in the ump 45, then it’s a near perfect game, it has support from the devs constantly with feedback from players being heard and used, plus a dev made user creation tool for users to make their own custom modes and games within the game. It feels great and plays great.
Seems like Pavlov is great for being VR Gmod/CS-GO, while Contractors is good for being a general shooter. Onward probably was pretty good at one point but suffered massively due to the Quest’s restrictions. I’ll likely get both Pavlov and Contractors if one or both of them go on sale. Its like we’re back in 2011 where games had to downgrade just to run on the 360/ps3. Thank god that (mostly) doesn’t happen anymore but VR is taking the hit now.
Just to point out, you should have looked at AI on the base game for Pavlov. On Pavlov, its the mod makers responsibility to add a good ai path system.
Guns in Pavlov is a lot easier to handel compared to other VR shooters. Ammo holster are placed on your waist on left and right. It gives you more room on how you want to reload your weapon in any situation. You always grab ammo/items when you think you can grab. In Onward I failed to do this basic thing so many times and still do. Reloading steps is more forgiving. Pavlov has bigger box volumes for weapon interaction and because of that you can insert mags at impossible angles.
Pre ordered psvr2 for Gt7 and Pavlov. Never played a fps standing up or crouching using whole body to duck or reload weapons / swap between weapons. Can’t wait to see how powerful the ps5 is plus the use of hepatic feedback etc. what have I let myself into lol?? 😂
I played all but i think Contractors just smash his enemies to the ground. When i tried to play onward i couldn't find servers. I don't like pavlov too much bcs game miss some major things like weapon collision (or they added it when i last played) and in my opinion pavlov have not much satisfying and boring shooting mechanics. When i launched cotractors not only i got destroyed by how detailed and polished it is i just got destroyed 2nd time when i entered a star wars mod server and 6 guys with droid skins approached me saying "roger roger" and teaching me how to use space musket. I had so much fun and there are even more mods for tf 2 and halo that just ports these beautiful games into vr.
Contractors has CoD zombies now and from playing the quest version of each of the zombies it’s better on contractors. On quest the Pavlov CoD zombies feels weird, when you shoot the zombies it feels like nothing is happening. You shoot the zombies and there’s no limb destruction or blood particles and the models don’t fall to the floor or have any death animation, they just vanish. There’s also no zombie limit in Pavlov meaning there’s like 100 zombies at once and lags the game unlike contractors. It also has custom guns but when I played Pavlov it was just the default weapons. I haven’t played Pavlov for a long time so I’m sure there’s probably been some updates to the CoD Zombies but I’ve found contractors much more true to the original zombies form
In summary, if you like run and gun shooters, get contractors, but if you like tactical/teamwork based shooters, get onward … If you like screaming kids, get Pavlov
I have always had more fun in pavlov but thats with a pc linked and only in multiplayer. Reloading in onward controls less naturally and honestly drives me nuts because the chest rig tends to have a mind of its own.
I gladly recommend contractors because it has in game mode, if you like cod contractors is for you, it’s fast paced action and onward is slow action, if your patient with your time
My first vr game I ever really played was onward on a friends oculus which I thought was amazing for it being the first game I played now I want to try contractors on my new oculus I got.
On comparisons on the nuke town mapsbetween contractors and Pavlov, the only reason the bus looks more squared off on contractors is because you were playing the black ops 1 version of nuke town and the Pavlov version is the black ops 2 version. It has nothing to do with the graphics it was just 2 different map eras
10:05 You should probably clarify that every gun and pistol has different levels of recoil according to their caliper and game balance. Ex: The ak-12 has a very high recoil cieling whike the vector has little to none. And the tec9 has little recoil whilst a revolver or deagle has drastically more.
I’d love a new, updated version of this video. Tons of people looking at what shooter to buy after getting their first VR headset (Quest 3). I’ll probably buy them all, but wondering which ones have the most PvE / coop content to get my feet wet before doing more PvP
@emidex8721 first of all that isn't true, I own quest pavlov and it has plenty of players. Second of all I own all 3 games and I can't decide which one I like best because they all have good things and bad things about them. I find myself kind of alternating between the 3. Basically I don't think it's fair to say any one of them is better than the other 2.
I loved onward because of how cinematic the co-op would be for me i remember the time my team git surrounded and were screaming in pain like it was actually. Happening
In my personal opinion after playing many hours of all 3 games the choice really comes down to what type of experience u want Onward is 100% better being tactical shooter whilst Pavlov and contractors are more like a vr call of duty I personally enjoy onward more but it is harder to get into however once u learn the mechanics and maps it is much more fun

@@obamacare4262 That's very immersive considering cod characters reload Akimbo guns while their guns at their hips.
I'd argue reloading is too fast/easy in Pavlov. It basically makes reloads a non-issue for anything but the LMG or 50BMG.
Love the hunt showdown music, thanks for the vid man just ordered my forst vr headset 👌
ive had some issues with contractors in the past. it feels clunky to me, and it could be because im left handed. the other 2, pavlov and onward are more forgiving on this front for me which i appreciate. Other shooters i play are larcenauts, hyper dash, gun raiders when im doing quest standalone, but mostly i play pavlov on PC as my go to. With new updates coming and the current beta port over, I feel pavlov will be making some larger strides this year
I thought It was only me. I'm left handed and it feels wonky to aim at time
Everything I read now is that Pavlov took a step back dropping mod support.
You should review Zero Caliber with these three, it's a great tactical-esc shooter
I play Pavlov, on quest. The mod support is insane. There are so many different role play maps, so many custom maps out weekly. Such a fun game
contractors is better
Mod support on contractors is way better got me to stop playing Pavlov all together
My go to is Contractors, I really like the gameplay but more importantly the mod support is AMAZING.
Thanks for the detailed comparison. probably will be getting contractors as I'm a halo, cod and battlefront fan
(Although personally i'm not too bothered by that if it means higher player counts)
I really liked the fact you can have server-side mods in Contractors that can be used in all maps, and really hope that comes to Pavlov one day that'd be fun. And yeah the custom workshop maps look far superior in Pavlov, tried several out in Contractors and almost none looked as good which is a shame, Contractors has a lot of potential to be a really good VR game one day if they can improve the modding support and if modders can make better looking maps in future.
whats hilarious is that they didnt have to downgrade it for quest yet it has more same player count on pc as contractors with crossplay
@@SINfromPL lol wth you talking about lmao active playercount barely goes above 500,2 million?are you nuts? at least if youre gonna lie,do it more realistically.
onward also has gun game and spec ops and stuff and more.
Pavlov never gets updates and got stale
And contractors is really fun, less realistic better with people in my opinion and the mods with the recent support is amazing!
video about vr shooters contractors onward and pavlov meanwhile it has payday music playing in the back
Dude haven’t seen you in a while. Your videos are great
Glad you like them!
what game is the sang from playing at 1:34 - 3:29
i like onwards because you get both really tactical players and goofballs just screwing around and it makes things interesting, and even playerbase doesnt feel that toxic
11:54 "with some stuff looking like plastic rather than metal" as you're looking at a plastic magazine
Ranking(in my opinion)
Thanks for doing these comparisons. Contractors definitely seems like the most polished shooter!
With the new overhauls to Pavlov and Pavlov Shack, I'd really like to see how these games compare now!
Excelente comparativa! Muy buen video! Te ganaste un suscriptor
Contractors all the way now, alone for the amazing mods like Bops1 Kino der Toten Zombies, Star Wars Battlefront and many others, all ways something new every time I come back to it. Used to love Pavlov but it feels kinda dead nowadays
I need Gears of War VR. Winning a chainsaw duel in VR would be incredible lol
@@Demmrir go figure. a game based strictly on zombies has better zombie variation and AI in general.
you made me decide what game to buy next
You are one of my favorite VR YT creators. Please post more often.
The best summary for Pavlov is basically GMod VR
Not at all bonelab Is the gmod vr
Pavlov Is basically just CSGO vr
not even close
wtf. Gmod vr is gmod vr
4:18 PvP stuff include GUN, which is gun play. Love the explanation lol.
2:16 bro hit us with that Payday 2
Thank you. I think ill pick up Contractors. Since I like to just do some offline bot matches at times.
My fav is pavlov because of all of the custom zombie maps and amazing recreations of the old cod maps
contractors the best fps shooter out there graphics between of 2 and gun handling is amazing
Just to point out, you should have looked at AI on the base game for Pavlov. On Pavlov, its the mod makers responsibility to add a good ai path system.
The base game AI in Pavlov is still garbage though. It just has less outright pathing issues.
Damn I heard that payday2 music in the background and had cloaked ptsd
My favorite mode in Pavlov is Minecraft Zombies on the Oasis map. It's phenomenal and there's nothing quite like doming minecraft zombies with a P1911
5:23 is gmod darkrp, wonder if it still has the same type of people
Contractors has CoD zombies now and from playing the quest version of each of the zombies it’s better on contractors.
In summary, if you like run and gun shooters, get contractors, but if you like tactical/teamwork based shooters, get onward
… If you like screaming kids, get Pavlov
As someone on a watchlist I see this as an absolute wi-
Onward has been updated massively and you can get loads of new maps a couple new gamemodes a kill box with times and scores and more
Do you need pc to play this game or can you play it on quest 2 Vr headset only
most of them have a quest version but dont expect the pictured quality
For Quest 3 users:
1. Try Pavlov for Free
2. Try Contractors
3. Forget Onward
Decide between 1 or 2. Right?
I have always had more fun in pavlov but thats with a pc linked and only in multiplayer. Reloading in onward controls less naturally and honestly drives me nuts because the chest rig tends to have a mind of its own.
I bought inwards and stoped playing since it got I would always die but then I got back into it when I got better aim and better at vr
0:36 Technically Pavlov is crossplay with the PSVR2
I just got a Quest 2, I already got Pavlov but Ive been debating Contractors and Onward, might just get all three tbh.
Don’t get onward contractors is the best by a good bit
I gladly recommend contractors because it has in game mode, if you like cod contractors is for you, it’s fast paced action and onward is slow action, if your patient with your time
Damn i searched this up and I didnt expect the exact thing I needed to come up
My first vr game I ever really played was onward on a friends oculus which I thought was amazing for it being the first game I played now I want to try contractors on my new oculus I got.
Contractors duh
Is there any option in any of this 3 games to spin around with the joystick? Amazing tutorial and walkthrough!
Whats the background music? Ive heard it before but i dont know what its from
Hey what's that background musics It sounds familiar
Door kickers 2 maybe?
contractors is definetly the best by far
No Pavlov because the game have a massive update now it's way better
@@glowfox1450 no one plays that game anymore
@emidex8721 first of all that isn't true, I own quest pavlov and it has plenty of players. Second of all I own all 3 games and I can't decide which one I like best because they all have good things and bad things about them. I find myself kind of alternating between the 3. Basically I don't think it's fair to say any one of them is better than the other 2.
Thanks for this video. Spot on!
Extra Game idea that’s really Good Ghost Of Tabor and i can say this because i have Contracters Onward Ghost of Tabor and Pavlov
Nice 👍🏼 I like all those games
quick update that pavlov shack is not free anymore on the quest store
My guys description of TTT is spot on
I love onward and contractors but i play onward more for the realistic gameplay
Fr
Try PMC Loadout Mod on Contractors.. you will thank me (is like Onward, but, better)
11:55 “With some stuff looking like plastic instead of metal” that’s because it is plastic 😂
Maybe i missed it, but Contractors also has optional Vrik
Contractors would be perfect if it had bullet holes and impact/ricochet sounds along with better gun sounds in general.
100%
consider the virtual stocks as well
onward probably has the best while pavlov and contractors are about the same
I think Contractors is the most fun out of the 3. Fast paced, great mods.
It really is. The mods are next level.
I loved onward because of how cinematic the co-op would be for me i remember the time my team git surrounded and were screaming in pain like it was actually. Happening
Onward is my favorite for tactical and team based but if i just want to joke around and have some fun i get on pavlov
In my personal opinion after playing many hours of all 3 games the choice really comes down to what type of experience u want
Onward is 100% better being tactical shooter whilst Pavlov and contractors are more like a vr call of duty
I personally enjoy onward more but it is harder to get into however once u learn the mechanics and maps it is much more fun
10:43 trust me i elite you are happie when you can rack the slide almost in the entire gun
