Coruscant is easily one of the coolest and most iconic sci-fi planets ever made. When I found out that it was a literal planet-wide city my mind was blown.
It’s also cool that it’s part of the “core” of the charted galaxy, idk if they ever say it in movie but neat detail from the lore if I’m remembering right
While the Sequel Trilogy was utterly doomed by Episode Vlll (and I would argue it was doomed as early as Episode Vll), it seems like Colin Trevorrow at least had a unique and interesting story to tell for Episode lX, rather than the continuation of OT-rehashing, mystery box afflicted, fanfiction slop we got instead.
@@StarWarsLight1138, it's not even that he wanted to "fix" Episode Vlll because in his mind, there was nothing to fix. With the exception of some half-baked ideas he had while working on Episode Vll (which got scrapped anyway), he basically made this film on the fly.
There is one amazing detail about Coruscant in The Mandalorian, showing a square with the top of the Umate, the highest mountain on Coruscant, that gives the real size of a ecumenopolis. Most people don't understand that the "street level" that many think as the "ground" is basically the top of a 1000 floor building that covers the entire planet.
Honestly I personally would have preferred if Ep. 9 had climaxed on Coruscant instead of Exegol. Star Wars has always had a good mix of fights inbetween battles like Duel of the Fates on Naboo, and Luke on the Death Star. Exegol’s “space battle” played out more like a motivation for Rey instead of its own battle. Plus all the “Sith” elements were muddled down to me and hard to interpret why so many Sith occultists were suddenly present. Had it taken place on Courscant the aesthetic alone of a darkened autocracy crumbling would have been compelling on its own as Palpatine’s city falls. Plus with it being the birthplace of the Empire, it would have paralleled its fall. I like the franchise introducing new planets with certain intentions, but if they’re just as simple as using them as a set piece then there’s no impact.
@@StarWarsLight1138, I personally find the idea of the final battle occuring the the asteroid field that was once Alderaan to be a great place to end things. After all, what better place to end the saga than the first planet to be named (by release order, anyway)?
Excellent summary of Coruscant! My only constructive criticism is pronunciation. You pronounce Coruscant differently a couple times and called Dex’s Diner, Dex’s Dinner. Maybe that was on purpose? Keep up the great work! Your videos are terrific.
I'd only heard of Coruscant in books and thought it was pronounced Kor us kant until I heard Qui gon Jin pronounce it Kora sant. Whatever, it was just cool that it became cannon
"Overrun by giant wolves" ... giant wolves FROM WHERE? The planet is an entire city, you say there are giant wolves living somewhere in the city and they just wandered into the Jedi Temple together one day?
I guess they included it to make it look neglected, but as you say, it makes absolutely no sense... unless they were going with the "Somehow giant wolves returned"!
@@StarWarsLight1138, I think it would be cool if the Jedi Temple was made into some sort of "Galactic History Museum" by the New Republic. Sorta like what Turkey did with the Hagia Sophia after WW1.

She deserves her own special place in hell for that betrayal. The fact that, between her and JJ Abrams, they couldn't manage to put Han, Luke and Leia in a scene together, really shows her incompetence and the utter lack of knowledge and respect she has for Star Wars.
Whenever I think of watching the making of the prequels I know my ex-wife and step kids when they finally asked why I watched them I explained to them to see how the mind of George Lucas worked, others saying that he just used and abused his staff what they don't realize was that the people who were the most creative to put his ideas into a solid structure like the artists there were ones like Phil Tippett and others who worked on the original trilogy they came out from that trilogy millionaires, the same with the creators of the prequels. The words for the planets, the characters are ones that aren't far off from my tongue whereas the ones created by DIznee are like who the hell made these names of people or names of planets. The idea that they could say it was because of not wanting to bore people why there is no plot or structure or plot lines or correct editing or anything and if we didn't like the crap were racist and misogynists', whereas I call them Misandry the same types who are always blaming men, anyone with a penis is automatically the bad guy already a POS. I never knew that the name "Coruscant" came from the word "Coruscate" meaning "Glittering". That is such a great naming of a capital city / planet !
Indeed! Kudos to Timothy Zahn for that

Yep, JJ was more focused on "fixing" Episode VIII than on giving us a compelling story

Revenge of the Sith is a masterpiece and is the best looking star wars movie ever made and still looks great
Nicely Done. Keep up the Good Work👍👍👌👌💪💪
