We have a new GR and it flys just finished a2.5 k trip to our projects average fuel 8.4
Always had 79 Series and now their only 4 cylinders we went for the GR and we love it so punchy over the 4 cylinder 79 it would leave them for dead go the GR 💪💪💪💪

@@TeamBulletOffroadmate it was the hardest choice we have ever made with our love for the 79 and the new auto 79 being so amazing the best combination 79 ever.
But our projects cover so many kilometres and the comfort and power is amazing.
Also I know you love your Toyota information and I can tell you as a mate the biggest thing I love is how well the gearbox matches the motor it’s not like the 200 it holds 6th gear and is paired really well so much power on tap especially when passing those road trains.
You just hit it and round you go .
We have projects in Lane Cove at the moment would love to catch up and happy for you to borrow the GR for the weekend mate

Cheers another good one, great explanation of different intercoolers too. After owning a 2.8 150 which was capable and comfortable, I'm totally stoked with my 2.8 78 its better for my use.

Here in my country, Lc's with the 2.8 motors are nearly priced with the V8's

That solenoid on the gearbox looks vulnerable when offroading

Probably better than new lC250 prado.

Yes Richard, but the fortuner has always been a mini Prado in my opinion over a hilux wagon, but I see your point at same time..

Be awesome to take that for a wheel off-road though, the new Prado!

Ive retired for the auction industry after 37 years. Could drive anything. Personal choice for home has always been landcruiser. Iv had (and have) 40,60,80,100,200,300(hated it) 78, 5x79 v8s. Last uear i sold my v8 70 and bought a hilux to see if i can live with the 2.8/auto. Guess what? I can.
But! The dilemma is. The hilux is better appointed even in SR form. Better seats, better info screen, cup holders too. Same track front and rear. We have a small orchard and its doing everything a “farm 70” has done including trips into the outback. Its 95% of the 70. Downfalls? Yes. The std suspension is awful and it doesnt tow quite as well as a result. With a hd tray, cage, bull bar and side rails it needs a lift especially with an extended horse float on rear.
So will i buy another 70? I doubt it. The extra cost, that track issue which pisses me off. Im getting older too.
So, im content to potter about in my 1979 landcruiser 45 tonremind me of what landcruiser used to be like
    Great review btw👍

How do you find the new gen Hilux engine compared to the fortuner? I find this version has noticeable turbo lag but definately has alot more top end, liked my 2017 better.

Interesting you say that as around town where I drove it for the day I felt that too, unfortunately I didn't get to experience much of the top end feel, thanks for commenting

Toyota kept the leaves for load carrying. Leafs can be surprisingly comfortable these days

The Rouge is more value for money than the GR Sport.
