@@swaralayou can’t translate music word for word. You’re right, it’s not a direct translation, but it’s a correct translation to express the emotions/thoughts intended by the original.

@@KulaGGin It depends on what your preference is in a translation. This version focuses more on conveying the general message and the feeling of the lyrics while maintaining similar word breaks and syllable counts - a popular choice when translating poetry or song lyrics. It does mean that it's not quite a literal translation from the original, though - for example there's no mention of horchata, but there is no equivalent for the Finnish word used to rhyme with piña colada that works in english - especially when the original word is somewhat obscure slang so the meaning might have been a mystery for the translator. There's also references to a generic "you" in this version while the original focuses only on the drinker/singer, but it's also a clear choice made to chance as little as possible while preserving the syllabic meter.
In short, Finnish is a horrible language to translate poetry or song lyrics from, and this matches much better than you'd expect. It's clearly different in the sense where it's more focused on the partying than the binge drinking part, but that suits the change if music genre well.
Love how "ei!" in Finnish (which means "no!") can easily be kept as "ey!" in English as just an exclaimation, and it still works in the lyrics.

It's great to see that Finnish songs are being translated! I really liked this one, although it was really strange to hear a Cha cha cha song in English.😅 Because in Finnish we have certain words that are completely different from the English translation! But a really good translation of a Finnish song into English! Still love this version!👌

This is the most whimsical badass metal song I've heard
You have to listen to the original as well! It is not metal exactly but it got second place in Eurovision for a reason for a metal cover more in line with the original song (so in Finnish and more industrial metal) I would go for Lord Of The Lost's cover they represented Germany in the same competition. They came dead last though sad because Blood and Glitter is a really good song. The singer did a really good job of pronouncing the Finnish lyrics and even performed this cover live in Finland.

I love the swedish music scene (mostly the metal one but anyways) but Tattoo is kinda basic tbh ... Even though her vocals were very pretty, p generic Eurovision kinda song. Cha Cha Cha was doing something so different!

There are many similarities not only between the Finnish language and the Japanese language, but also the mentality.

The only thing with this translation is that it is not as grim as the original. But that has a LOT of cultural connotations so this is the best it can be for English.
