Amazing work on this! Applying the grout between the stones was very satisfying, and gave a great result!
Also appreciate the makers paradox being features, where no matter how accurately and precisely things are planned, modeled, printed, and cut, somehow there is always random gaps that appear! It's just the way

To speed the process, I would use the styrene scraper technique to apply a "scratch coat" before doing the stipple. This way you could build up the surface in one coat. Also, I would print the table leg parts flat and super glue them together as assemblies.

I've never used a 3D printer, and out of curiosity, are you able to recycle the supports? Just seems kind of wasteful and makes me hesitate in investing in one. But, if the supports can be reused, as in melted back down and fed into the machine that would change my mind. If not, then I'll have to see if a company does that in my life-time, otherwise, I guess I'll just be sitting here watching you make these rather than doing it myself. I love doing things like this though, back in the 90s my boyfriend and I used to play a lot of D&D and AD&D so we made a lot of our own game sets and painted a lot of figures. It's something I've always enjoyed doing.

Thank you so much for watching the videos, and I’m happy that you’re inspired to make a diorama! The pink foam I use insulation foam board by owens Corning. I buy it at Home Depot in the US. I’ve seen some Australian makers use the same type of insulation foam, Luke Towan features a similar foam in his videos, but it’s a lighter pale yellow color, so you might wanna check out his channel!
The black foam core I get from Blick Art Materials or Hobby Lobby. I’m sure you could find similar boards in art supply and craft stores in Australia! Hope this helps!

How can I go about learning how to 3D print?

    • @smolworldworkshop
      @smolworldworkshop  Рік тому

I started printing back in 2020, before buying a resin printer I watched a few tutorials online about the process. I remember there was a good 3D printing miniature details video on Luke Towans UA-cam channel where he goes through the process of printing resin miniatures.
You can find lots of 3D models online to download, but I design most of my stuff with 3D software. I use fusion 360 because it’s free, and it’s great for making printable models. I already had a 3D background so the program was intuitive for me, but I know that there are lot’s of fusion 360 tutorials online. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!

That stucco is amazing. I don't doubt the time that went into it for a second. I've only made a small fireplace with spackle covering it for a stucco like appearance and I was sure it was going to be the death of me 😅
Those flowers also are an amazing idea, they really do look leaps and bounds better than the foam ones.
Seeing this finished out in the sun with the shadows casting naturally and the wind wiggling the plants... amazing work, truly.

Thank you!!! I don’t know what I was thinking when I though that the stucco was only going to take a day haha!
I think for me seeing the final project in natural light is the most rewarding part! Thanks again for your support :D

I went to Santorini last September and revisiting this October. You have this spot on mate, right down to the Bougainvillea which grows all over the Island. My wife was impressed with this build as well and is probing me to see if I can have a shot at it 🤔😂

Thank you so much, I’m so glad you like I’m the build! I’ve never been to Greece, so it’s nice to hear that it looks accurate. If you’re looking to build a diorama like this I’d highly encourage it! Lots of fun to make!

Thank you so much!! I got the black foam board from hobby lobby! I believe Blick Art Materials sells it too, but it’s more expensive. Hope this helps!!

Gorgeous! The attention to detail is spectacular. Little side note, if you print those tables upside down you’d minimize overhangs and the required supports meaning less work for you. I’ve never seen someone 3d print flowers like that before either, the little printed details are just stellar!

Also, when taking supports off, you can try the hot water trick. Put the part in hot tap water for 10-15 seconds and then take it out and it should be easier to pop off the supports. But if you put it in longer it might start to warp.

Your texture method is actually vary accurate to how some of that is really done. The tool used often is called stomp brush or some say slamp brush (Slap/stomp).
