    so if i have to omit a note here to play it on a guitar with 4 fingers, which note do i omit?

      There are some barred and open voicings that are playable, depending on which dominant 9th you want to play. You can omit the b7 note but it will then be an add9 chord.

      Oftentimes, you can omit the 5th, for example with this movable shape, here played as a D9 chord:
