  • Recorded - Spring 1997
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

What I admire about Cliffe is that he is willing to admit, "I do not know" about certain questions or topics. Frankly, God doesn't expect Christians to understand everything in Scripture. What is revealed in Scripture about the nature of God and Jesus is sufficient for salvation.

What you said is inaccurate, just last night I watched half a dozen videos on Islam, and I was raised pagan; became an atheist due to public education; and I'm a Christian because of my personal experience with GOD. My perspective is NOW presently different than yours, because I already believed as you did in the past. My encounter with Jesus is why I am as I am now. Now that thats out of the way, it's a known fact that a person's foolishness will manifest when they realize they believed a lie, why? A wise man searches out a matter before he answers it, that way when he gets the full truth he doesn't look presumptious or assuming. That's a free lesson from me to you. Your foolishness has manifested here, as you've admitted here you believed a lie, silly you.. Your own words say so.. You assumed something untrue of me, believing it so much you voiced it, even issued a challenge to me based upon your untrue opinion. The truth is, AFTER living as a pagan, AFTER living much of my life as an atheist, NOW because of my experience of GOD, I disagree with inaccurate worldviews that I have already endured and overcome as a result. As for your request, no, I won't revert back to watching material about something I already used to believe, but have since learned better than, and I won't do it for the same reason that a student who graduates the 11th grade wouldn't consider being put back down into the 10th grade for his trouble. For the record, any good preacher worth his salt, he uses his own mind, uses reason, logic, and his understanding and conscience to discern and determine between fact or fiction, right or wrong, that being said it's not gloating or boasting to speak the truth.. Which leads me to my next point, I'm already well versed in mormonism, Islam, Judaism, Christianity, atheism, Buddhism and many other worldviews which I've already looked into on my quest for truth. So far, for me personally, my experience is that the truth in the Holy Bible best represents reality. I believe what I believe not becuase I was told, but because of my own experience. I know what I believe, and WHY I believe it, so don't lie to yourself, and others, and voice your inaccurate assumption that asserts otherwise, or you're not going to get any closer to truth yourself.

@@Theo_Skeptomai I will repeat myself, if it was too complex for you I apologize. It's very simple really, because I've already graduated beyond your beliefs, having held them myself prior to experiencing GOD, no, I'm not going to revert back to wasting time watching material about lines of thinking I have already understood, overcome, and now directly disagree with fundamentally. I wouldn't do what you're asking any more than a student who graduates the 11th grade would agree to return to the 10th, it doesn't make logical sense to regress.

Just be careful, there is alot of error in Cliffes teaching, for example not Believing the Bible is the inerrant word of God, which it absolutely is. If he is correct, how could we possibly trust Jesus, or anything in the Book? This is Cliffe limiting God, putting him in a box. Jesus Christ is definitely the Messiah, Lord of Lords, King of Kings. Cliffe contradicts himself often, dont quote the Bible if it was written by mere men, for it has no power. Even though Jesus said quite plainly, Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
See my point? How can he believe Jesus always was, if he doesnt Believe God informed man about creation.

Acts 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other for there is no other name under Heaven given among Men by which we must be saved ". It's cool seeing younger Cliffe during his Apologetics teachings decades ago. AMEN brothers and sisters in Christ our Lord and God bless ya brother Cliffe ministry. I just wanted to let you all know how much of an influence brother Turek has been in my work in Christian Apologetics these past few years. Atheism is nuts it's a nonsensical conclusion that Atheists use science to come to having Creation without a Creator just a creative Force that inexplicably came about on it's own without guidance, consistency or assurance of it's success or purpose just random irrational events that they worship because it cancels out the moral accountability and responsibility that they would have to a Creator. Thanks to The Lord our God for preserving His Word through the centuries of history in The Bible so Christians and Apologists can do Good in uploading these videos. Cross Examined ministry always does good work in your efforts in the furtherance of The Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ you're reaching thousands to millions of people who are seeking after The Truth of God's Existence, Word and Character in our reality 🙏❤️👊. This has nothing and everything to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a fellow Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.
I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

I think it’s all good what you say and who is to know who you might be reasoning with. Atheism exercises our brain. We stop and think and wonder why it exists. Once upon a time it was the norm to believe in the existence of God. However even though there was a time when the whole world subscribed to the idea of God’s existence, nevertheless the odds didn’t change. Many still would perish because although they might have believed in God their rebellion to Him was such that He could not choose them. But atheism fortifies the faith of the believers because it strengthens our belief in God. We see their folly. All of us believers have a calling to defend our faith in Jesus Christ, and we all have our own unique ways of defending the Saviour who died for our trespassers against God. Regrettably the atheists actually has the preference, unbeknownst to themselves, for the non existence of God. And this is playing havoc with their capacity to believe. Hence they have genuine unbelief. But this doesn’t excuse them. However, if within themselves there is a capacity to love and serve God, not necessarily out of terror but with all gratitude, then God will see to it, that they are brought to their senses with a great display of repentance. In the meantime you and I and others like us, do what we can, when we can, to point them into the direction of our blessed Saviour. I think the fact that Paul the great apostle, decided to believe the eye witnesses who witnessed seeing the risen Jesus, is good proof of the resurrection. If an atheist can genuinely say that they would love and serve God with all true obedience if it’s indeed true that Jesus is God who came here to be with us and to save us, then that’s an atheist who God will probably save. Professor Walter Veith who was a leading light teaching on the subject of evolution, lost his atheism and became converted to the gospel. He has done many wonderful videos but his testimony is one you might particularly care to take a look at. God bless you.

On day one when we get born again we rejoice in our salvation. We try to lead a life that pleases God.
But after our honeymoon with The Lord we don’t seem to have the same assurances of our salvation. We become aware of missing the mark.
However God understands this and knows we’ll be going through this. Our Christian journey has stages to it.
We start off with a hiss and a roar thinking we’ve got sin conquered but to our dismay we realise we are falling short. This is what God wants us to realise.
And eventually this brings us to another stage. It’s the stage of knowing we have to go deeper in our walk with The Lord.
In other words we have to try harder to please Him who died to save us. We have to learn as disciples of Jesus Christ to become completely obedient to Him.
We have to make a decision to become dead to sin. This is a hard decision to make, but it’s worth it.
And if we make this decision to be a righteous one, wanting to live a holy life, and strive to attain it, we will be pleasing in God’s sight.
And knowing that we are pleasing God gives us the assurance of our salvation. It helps us to feel close to God. We feel accepted by Him.
God willing we will attain to the holy life. However if we try and fail but keep on trying, God will accept us.
And eventually in many examples He will see to it that we get the crown of righteousness. But some will die trying to attain it. In both cases God will choose us.
Let us remember that all those who go to hell know they could have gotten the victory over sin, but didn’t strive sufficiently hard enough.
Many will perish because they didn’t strive. If you make the decision to become dead to sin, your salvation is assured, but use the fear of God to goad you into a life of righteousness. You can do it. Everlasting life is worth it, isn’t it.
Luke 13:24 KJV Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

This is the whole trouble with the Bible, in order to get it all to figure, believers have to so called 'study it', which, if we want to be brutally honest might be a better way of saying they have to do a whole load of tap dancing and mental gymnastics when reading it.
To be honest, I used to do a whole load of it myself when I was a believer and I read the Bible, until it got to a point where I was getting headaches trying to get it all to work and I started to ask some obvious questions like, if this is really God's word, then why couldn't he just say what he means and mean what he says instead of inspiring a book full of double talk, metaphors, symbolisms etc?? Why make it more complicated than it needed to be? That's where it all began to unravel for me.

Jesus went to Abrahams Bosom (Heart of the Earth) and Hell to deliver the good news of the New Covenant during the 3 days. He took the keys to the gates of Hell and delivered the people from Abrahams Bosom to actual Heaven. People who are in the Bosom did not have their sins cleaned so therefore could not be in the presence of God. After innocent blood was shed, atonement was made and allowed for PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE sins to be forgiven. This allows the ones in Abrahams Bosom to now transcend to Heaven.
Edit: The transcendence is when Jesus came back as spirit and 500 righteous men raised out of their graves and walked and talked to their families.

You certainly haven't got it wrong, Tom. Christ's dying from crucifixion was indeed all a part of God's plan according to Christianity, in fact, it was THE most important part of it, without it, no blood, no sacrifice etc.
Now, Christian's then have to somehow reconcile that with the idea that due to having a free will, the people who crucified Christ back then could have just as easily not crucified him but then had they not, it would have caused God's plan to fail, and yet, Christian's would say God's plans and his prophesies cannot fail, everything has to be fulfilled so therefore they HAD to crucify Christ, it wasn't an option.
Here's the rub, if Christian's must acknowledge that Christ had to be crucified, no choice, then, no choice...no free will, yet they try to claim Christ's executioners had a free will. How do they reconcile that? I don't know but somehow they do. I'm not knocking them, I'm just baffled by how they get around this 🤔

Atheism ain't got nothing new or better to offer than the very religious beliefs it's critical of so it's hypocrisy at it's finest 😂. Hello this is for all you Atheists, unbelievers and skeptics. I'm going to address a few misconceptions and lies about God's Character and His Word. The Bible doesn't support chattel slavery or anything else Immoral. Ok so Atheists and unbelievers say God is either Immoral, incompetent or not responsible so let's see what The Scriptures actually say. God revealed himself and created a nation in a real, historical context. It was a world with a slave-based economy, with city states often at war with each other, with polygamous marriages to ensure the continuation of family lines. The laws of the Old Testament regulate this behaviour. Slaves are to be treated humanely (Exodus 21:11). They are given rights and not seen as mere possessions. Hebrew slaves were able to buy their own freedom. Human trafficking is condemned (Exodus 21:16). In contrast to the law code of Babylon, Old Testament Israel was a light to the nations. The Old Testament law and narratives do not stand alone. Jesus is now the best example of what we read. So the moral teaching of the Bible cannot be summarised by a quote taken out of context from the Old Testament to demonize God and His Word. Slavery was permitted in Old Testament law but it was regulated by God giving the Israelites instructions on how to fairly and humanely treat their slaves (it was like indentured servitude where someone could work for you if they owed debts or needed income not cruel like chattel slavery). God allowed the people of Israel to own slaves since they themselves has already experienced over 400 years of generations of Egyptian slavery and knew how inhumane it was to be beaten, overworked and taxed so God set them apart from other nations and cultures around them by giving them a fair way to treat their slaves since slavery had already existed in the world but it doesn't mean God condoned it just used it for His Will to bring Good And in the light of the whole scriptural teaching, we find the reasons for its ultimate abolition (Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 4:1-3; Philemon 15-16 and Galatians 3:28). The Word of God provided the moral standard against slavery in the Roman Empire and against the slave trade in the New World.
But what of genocide or holy war in the book of Joshua? Several things could be pointed out. The use of warfare in the ancient world did not always mean literal total destruction, even when events are described in such terms. Furthermore, the book of Joshua does not describe a genocide. It is not a race who are being wiped out, as in genocide, but a religious practice which was often appalling and degrading. Those who repent (like Rahab from Jericho or Ruth) are not destroyed but become part of Israel. It is not the racial group that is in view but their "detestable practices".
However, after all is said, we must still acknowledge that God brought judgment on the nations of Canaan. It is not our place as believers isn't to sugar-coat the Bible. For some skeptics, this is enough to make God a moral monster. But the fact is that Jesus continued to affirm that God is a Judge who will bring a future judgment on all peoples and all nations. God’s judgment will be just. The list of Old Testament stories rejected by critics often leads to a similar dismissal of the New Testament teaching of Jesus on the existence of hell.
After all, what was the Flood of Genesis or the conquest of Joshua if not a glimpse of future judgment? Hell does not demonstrate cruelty on God’s part, but it does demonstrate His Holiness and our moral accountability. Perhaps this is the real reason many people rail against the God of the Bible? It is not that they think He is a moral monster, but that they are afraid He is a moral Judge, and that has implications for our behaviour now. God is an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being and we as His creatures have Eternal souls and spirits so the punishment for our sins against Him must therefore also be Eternal but so must the reward for righteousness that's why He sent His Son Jesus to live a perfectly righteous and sinless Life (which none of us could ever possibly expect to do) suffer the humiliating and torturous death of crucifixion to shed His Own Blood willingly so that all who willingly accept His gift of salvation by grace through faith in Him will be saved and given Eternal life because that's what God wants is for us to willingly accept His gift of salvation and choose life. Exodus 21:20-21 literally speaks about capital punishment befalling anyone who mistreats their slaves so yes people are taking Scripture out of context to demonize God who literally promises that slaves who are mistreated under someone else's authority is to be avenged. When we hear the word “slavery” we think of innocent human beings, kept prisoner for life, having no rights under law and so reduced to animals. This is clearly immoral because it is unjust: the slave has done nothing to deserve the treatment.
The situation described as “slavery” in the Bible was nothing like this. It is more accurately described as one of indentured servitude. Many “slaves” were indentured servants, working for a term of years
Some other “slaves” were prisoners. There were no prisons. Prisoners had to work to live like everyone else. Some had life sentences. Some served a term and were released.
People didn't beat their good slaves but treated them well and protected their assets thus.
But no matter how rebellious a slave was, you couldn't just beat them to death. And if you knocked out their tooth or damaged their eye then you had to set them free. (Exodus 21:26). God wasn't using what other nations did because He wanted to set His Chosen People of Israel apart from the cruel, inhumane and unjust systems other cultures had so He gave them a fair way to treat their slaves and servants.
There is a lot of ignorance on this topic which is understandable given the age we live in but it's not the nefarious set up we think of when we think of modern slavery. The question Atheists must ask themselves is how come the Jews aren't being accused of slavery and human trafficking if they're guilty of it in The Bible and why would white slave owners rip out pages from The Old and New Testament Scriptures to justify their owning blacks as slaves if The Bible already justified slavery?

    The Gospel:
    Plain and
    Simple
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent
beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your
minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3
Ask someone today if they are saved and
you will most likely hear responses like these:
“I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I
have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been
baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good
and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-termine whether or not a person actually
knows the gospel that saves them. These use￾less phrases don’t describe a thing about what
the gospel is and has left a devastating effect
of people not knowing what it is that they are
saved from nor how they are saved; which
leaves a more serious effect of people ques￾tioning their salvation.
Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salva￾tion that is in Christ with vague church
sounding phrases that do not communicate
anything. But rather present God’s word with
clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel:
    plain and simple.
Sin was passed upon all men by one man
Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin
(Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of
condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of
this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good
works one might do we are still found sinners
in the sight of our Creator God. And all un￾righteousness and those who follow get in￾dignation and wrath. We cannot be found
righteous for by God’s law we are found sin￾ners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even
one law we are found guilty.
It is for this reason of not being able to
create our own righteousness and being born
in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus
3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in
the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross
2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath
and judgement that was intended for us sin￾ners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial,
and resurrection on our behalf that we are
able to have peace with God and forgiveness
of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good
news is unto all but only those that believe in
it are made righteous in Christ (Romans
    3:22).
It is then after we have heard this good
news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit
and we are now part of Christ’s body the
    church (Eph 1:13)
There is nothing that we need to do, no
good works that are required, and no bad
works that can separate us from our new po￾sition in Christ (Romans 8:35-39).
Faith and belief in this information from
    God’s word is the gospel.
The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your
heart. The gospel is not making him lord of
your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not
    being baptized with water.
So next time someone asks you if you are
saved. Give them the clear assured answer
“Yes! And let me tell you why!”
