Its rat on rat crime
I've watched this about 50 times and for the life of me I cannot figure out why people think it's dirty. I just don't see it at all.
Marchands head mysteriously snaps back before the bodies make contact. Wonder what caused it?
1. Bennetts right hand accelerates to marchands face.
2. Bennett’s hand makes contact with marchands face before their shoulders collide.
3. Marchands head snaps back violently.
4. Marchand has a concussion.
5. Bennett is making eye contact with him the entire time.
6. Bennett immediately stops skating and looks at the ref with his palms up.
7. This is not Bennetts first time sneaking a punch in on a hit.

Bruins fans applaud when Marchand knee sweeps a guy but cry when a player retaliates. Marchand initiated contact here and Bennett stood his ground
Marchand also left his feet, which people seem to be conveniently leaving out.
I despise Marchand, but Bennet clearly sucker punches him in the head in the overhead footage which is not seen here.
You need to see the hit from all angles, you can see Bennett taking a potshot with his right hand to the face of Marchand. No matter the player, no dirty plays should be cheered on.
Looks to me like Bennett is just protecting himself from getting licked.

Marchand deserves a lot worse. Have you not seen all the youtube highlights of him playing dirty? Name one other player that has multiple highlights reels on youtube of them playing a garbage human.

Watch it from the bench side camera angle (not shown on this video). Incredibly dirty hit, Bennet should have been suspended but what else do you expect from the dirtiest team in the league.

What’s dirty about it? You have a second to hit a guy after he lets go the puck. No knee on knee nothing high. I’ve seen this take a lot on the internet this weekend and it just seems completely wrong. How ever the right cross to the jaw is pretty greasy.
I don't see a right cross to anything and the ref had a perfect view of it. I even slowed the video down as slow as possible and do not see any contact with marchands head. Inconclusive. Call on ice stands.
Yeah I keep reading about the gloved punch or dirty play by Bennett. Is this that play? Is there another view because I don’t see anything.
Update: I did see the punch from the right hand of Bennett in a different video.

Not to say Marchand isn't getting a bit of a taste of his own medicine, but man are the Panthers the dirtiest team in hockey.
This is so strange result, Bennet was controlling puck right before the hit and Marchand was coming to late hit, Bennet reverse hit and caused injury to Marchand who turned his back right before hitting. Maybe he tried to avoid collision? Didn't expect Bennet hit back.

I watched it frame by frame, Bennet NAILS him with the right in the jaw. Hard to see it from the back, but there's a camera that picks it up from a front on angle. I don't think Marchand will recover fully from that one. The body check had very little to do with it. I am surprised that Marchand was able to stand up so quick after that one. I don't think he'll be back 100%. He's 36, he's done it, maybe time for retirement. If two guys BOTH want to go at it,,, go for it, but to catch someone off guard like that with a sneaky punch in the face while the game is still in play, that's not cool. Marchand was small and his feet were large comin in but at last second he closed up his skates and kinda jumped, dirty hitter can’t handle shoulder to shoulder hits well.

Boston fan here(don't care if you believe me or not), and I really see nothing wrong with that hit. Reverse hit, shoulder to shoulder, Bennett is just a much larger human. Maybe slightly hit him in the back, but Marchand kind of turned a millisecond before the hit. I thought maybe his skates left the ice originally, but that's not the case either. When someone out weighs you by 20lbs, that's what can happen.

Marchand came in on an angle that usually is a blind spot to lay a hit on Bennett and he got the worst of it. This is crybaby hockey by anyone who thinks that was actually dirty by the Florida player. "Wah, you didn't let me get away with a blind spot hit". Go cry to your mommy.

Marchand appears to be holding his right arm, which slammed the boards. Doesn't appear to be a hit on the head or face like some are saying was a punch from Bennett. He's not out for a head injury, he's out for upper body injury. Either way Marchand is one of the dirtiest players in hockey and lives to instigate. Now the team wants to retaliate??? Then all the hockey teams the Bruins have been dirty with should gang up on them...Take it like you dish it, this is playoff hockey!! Smart, skilled players really shouldn't have to resort to playing dirty anyway.

The evidence is Marchand legs. They are wobbly after that hit. If it was shoulder ribs collar bone I don’t see how he can climb back into the bench. Or hold onto the boards. That would hurt like a sob

edit: saw the slow motion view and it looks like Bennett’s right hand may have caught Marchand on the jaw. Not sure if that caused the injury or not ( should be a head injury rather than an upper body injury but who knows)

If you watch in slow motion, you can clearly see Marchand's skates leave the ice (charging) on his attempted hit. He was going for a head shot - attempt to injure - on someone he assumed was heading off the ice, and would not be paying attention. Luckily Bennett was paying attention. Marchand's a dirty player trying to make a dirty play, and there's no way this should ever have been a penalty call on FL.

I’m a rangers fan but I like to look at things objectively (even if if it’s a bruins player). I’ve watched this 10 times. I can not see what the bruins fans are crying about. Especially when it happens to a guy like Marchard.
