6 years ago when this level came out, I knew deep down that one day I would complete it. My hardest at the time was The Nightmare. Here I am 6 years later, having beaten almost 30 extremes, I've beaten one of the most influential levels in GD history. 3 days after beating this level and I'm still kind of speechless.
This grind didn't come without its issues though. Within a month of announcing to the public that I would be beating this level, I already started to feel a pretty sizable burnout. I pushed through it, and ended up getting 69% as a fluke from 45%. Shortly after, I took a break from the level because it started getting worse even after the recent best.
In March, I came back to the level with a fresh mindset, and immediately got a new best of 72%. This gave me the motivation I needed to follow through with this level for a while.
It took me a whole 44 days to make it back to the extension after getting 72%, and I got 87%. At that point I had seriously considered dropping the level for good, as I wasn't getting anywhere, and I wasn't consistent at all with the first half. It also didn't help that all of the hardest parts of the level were put directly after one another. 30%-46% has to be the strangest balancing I've ever seen, as that's where the vast majority of the difficulty in the level comes from in my opinion.
About a week before I beat this, I started to notice I was getting back to the extension more frequently, which gave me hope that maybe this grind was starting to end. I was correct.
I honestly didn't enjoy playing this level after the second half of this grind. It started to feel like I forced myself to play it, rather than me actually wanting to play, which definitely lowered my enjoyment. But after over 40,000 attempts, I'm happy it's over.
