  • We still haven't decided on hydro or solar and there will be a separate video for that but in this video I am removing trees along the road to have logs for the mill and also making room for poles in case we do hydro.

    Even if you clear enough trees around the poles, you'll still have to put up with tree damage on the line. Better off with a battery bank/solar/backup generator plus using inverters for high power items. My take is, if you aren't living there all the time, you can self-generate power & be off grid. Just go with a company that can tie all three above power sources together for you.

    Cottage is looking good. Tough choice on the power. I think if you are planning on keeping it a long time, the solar may be the best choice. Loved seeing Bauer at the end. He always brings a smile to my face.

    Several of my neighbors have solar now. Some like It some don't.
    One of the main reasons they don't like it is because the company that installed it did a poor job. In some cases, the job was never completed and they are still totally dependent on the regular power company.
    It might be a good idea to talk to people in your area who have it and see which ones liked the installer.

    All this emissions crap just causes more pollution one way or another. Even at $54 or whatever per metre that NSP charges, I’d say overhead looks best there too. I just put 76 metres of massive armoured cable underground at under $40 per metre. And then You need to leave the trench open for NSP to inspect it. What a headache.

    can't beat a well designed and installed solar setup, just knowing up front what your costs are rather than who knows how much a power company will be charging in 10 years...

    If you're going to use it as a rental u need poles, with a maintaining marked driveway whenever it will be actively rented for emergency services. Huge liability with our those two. Also property value will increase so just bite the bullet and do poles. Solar isn't free by any means

    Hi bud I can tell ya that solar power would be my choice less work and the cost of it yes with the panels and batteries that is only one huge cast my brother runs his house and shop totally on solar power he loves it but now the down side of it when living in Canada we do have snow he is always taking snow off the panels so he can charge the system reason being not much sun because of short days this is some thing that you are going have to pros and cons I hope this helps ya out

  • @Shaggy314th
    @Shaggy314th 9 місяців тому

    As much as you have to thin you would pay for the sawmill. Also there look like there is no grass or other type of vegetation growing under the trees.

  • @anthonybowes9273
    @anthonybowes9273 10 місяців тому

    Standard solar panels and tree shading do not go together and if there is any shading then you will need micro inverters on your panels. As you are harvesting light then your panels need to be in the sunniest locations. You will also need the best battery storage that you can afford. Find a very good solar installer, go and see some examples of their work and talk to the customers, every location in this world has its share of crap installers. Solar does work, but do your research in depth, UA-cam is a good source for solar generation results. Here in the UK smart tarrifs are coming to match up with solar generation.

    All diesel trucks nowadays should have the DEF system deleted if possible. Government emissions are one of the main reasons these trucks are breaking down prematurely. All diesel trucks that are bulletproofed and deleted last a very long trouble free time. Planned obsolescence is the reason the idiotic governments are all in our asses on these draconian epa rules that prove nothing of its planned intentions other then the side effects of supporting big businesses as usual. Live your life free, think for yourself and question everything ✌🏽❤

    Amazing work so far..it's coming together really nice. Hopefully you can get some input to solve your power issue and your right about underground utilities being over the top high. Here in the states a private installer is cheaper than using the utility for sure. Always great to see what you're up too and Bower is growing up so fast. Be safe and look forward to your next adventure;)

    Good job and video Brother. I agree that thinning out the trees is healthy and helpful. I would do both sources of power. Solar is a good backup option. I can’t believe how big Bauer is getting.

    Your doing a great job of opening up the driveway to let the sun in...
    I used solar for heating the horses water tank...in the winter...on cloudy days...it took twice as much power...had to always have a battery on charge for back up...and had extra panels the cold in Michigan..made it difficult...I'm sure there are others out there that have much better information on solar for you ..good luck..
