We climbed 2 hours to reach a Church carved in to the cliffs of Ethiopia! We shared Islam with the Priest and his followers. Located near the grave of King Najashi this Church was build at the time of the Prophet (PBUH)

Ethiopia was if not the first one of the first Christian Nations. Most people in Ethiopia are predominantly orthodox Christians get your facts right.
Jkh for extending your dawah to Ethiopia. Although it’s considered by many to be a Christian nation, Islam is the second largest religion (~35%) with a strong presence following Orthodox Christianity (41%). Alhamdulillah more and more are reverting to Islam. May Allah bring back the peaceful coexistence and tolerance among the nation and nationalities as well as among religious groups.
Edit: I appreciate everyone’s comments and corrections. I’m also Ethiopian, but had always thought Christians were majority, that’s what I was taught back in middle school and that’s the view presented even now. The statistics above is what I found online shared by the Ethiopian government, but most others also show similar numbers. I believe it is what they obtain from the Ethiopian gov’t. However, I’m now inclined to believe Muslims are majority just based on the overwhelming amount of Muslims that exist in Ethiopia. To share our history, it begins back from the time of Najashi - Ashama Ibn Abjar (King Armah in Ge’ez, who was the Christian ruler of Abyssinia (present day Ethiopia and Eritrea) before he accepted Islam). I don’t think many people know about the First Hijra in Islam, the king gave shelter to the followers of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) when no one would after they fled persecution by the Quraysh. Alhamdulilah, this also opened a door to Islam through trade in Africa.

I’m of Ethiopian origin, and I can assure you that Muslims are the majority. In the Muslim world league came with statistics, proving that Muslims are at least at 60% and you can make a solid argument that they are 75%. The biggest ethnic group of Ethiopia are the Oromos by a land mile, and they are vast majority Muslim (75%), and with them are the Afar, Gurage, Somali, Adare(Harari) etc. It’s only one decent sized ethnic group in Ethiopia that is majority Christian (Amhara), and they are only 23-25% of the population. And even statistics from Christian missing groups have proved that even this Christian ethnic group have up to 34% Muslims.
The conclusion is the fact that Ethiopia is a majority muslim land. The only issue is the fact that the Christian minority have been dominant politically speaking, so they have been able to spread this baseless misinformation.

They always forget that Christianity just like Islam came from outside (Egypt).

Even they have up to 34% Muslim, as per independent missionary groups and statistics. Ethiopia as at least 60% Muslim as per the Islamic world league. How can a 23-25% ethnic group (Amhara), who aren’t exclusively Christian make a majority. I don’t know what kind of math that goes into to claiming that Ethiopia is a Christian land. It’s politically dominated by the Christians only, that doesn’t make them majority.
