Wow! You hired an assistant! I like Ms. Future Doodle......she displays some nice sarcasm, she is strong on details, I hope we see more of her......the back and forth between you two was very good.
I agree with cb750k 1974: I think future doodle makes it much more enjoyable to watch the video when you need to make Corrections or clarifications. Everyone else tends to write in Corrections and I have to stop and Rewind to read what they said.
If anyone is interested: In Germany we have a riding school, that you have to entend when you want to get your licence. There you learn how to ride and then take a assessment at the end which determines, if you get the licence or not. The riding schools provide their own bikes and the Z650 is actually what i rode there. :) I thought it was a great beginner bike, because it is pretty smooth (mid cc), lightweight enough and easy to handle. Really cool seeing you try it out!
I can't believe this bike is heavier than mine :"D it honestly felt lighter... A really comfortable and budget friendly option in the mid CC range. Next week is the test ride on the slightly "racier" version, the Ninja 650, and then... my favorite of the day... the Z900! What did you think of this bike? Did I miss something? Once I ride just about everything I can get my hands on, I'll do a comparison video on all the bikes I've ridden this year! See my other review videos here: bit.ly/10BikesIn10Minutes
I know exactly how heavy that bike is because I've had to pick it up three times. I have so many crash bars and Axle sliders on it to make it easier for me to pick up because it is so huge despite being so small and narrow for my small body size. Every single thing that you pointed out in this video has been 100% accurate. I cannot agree more, down to the super narrow seat. I actually bought it for all of the reasons that you mentioned, specifically the narrowness of it.
I just bought a brand new Z900 two weeks ago. What an awesome machine it is. The engine is very smooth and powerful. And somehow it feels so light despite weighing 470 lbs. It’s 45 lbs heavier than my last bike, but you’d swear it’s the other way around. Best thing is that despite the aggressive looks, it’s really a gentle giant.
Hails from Maricopa! I have the 2020 z650 and have been having a blast on it. I would recommend to anyone that buys one to get rid if the factory tires and put on some Q3+'s, they make a world of difference. I also stiffened up the rear damper from the factory setting a bit. 7300 miles in just under a year on it and no other complaints. Puig makes a wind screen that looks good on it too.
So happy I found your channel. 55 yrs young and been riding for 45 plus years off-road. Finally going to street. Built like a Viking shield maiden so looking forward to seeing your older and new videos! On bigger bikes🎉😊 I am honestly nervous as it’s a whole new experience. Totally different world and that’s honest! So watching your vid next on “Things I wish I knew…”
Doodle, another great video. You have such motorcycle charm. No one reviews a bike like you. I watch all the videos of a certain bike that I’m interested in, complete with all the technical info. But I watch you first. Such a joy! Many thanks for being you and sharing with us.
I'm an experienced rider and have been on motorcycles since high school and thus am not your target audience. And yet, I enjoy your videos, Doodle! Your enthusiasm is refreshing and helps me remember what is was like when I first started riding. Sometimes we become too jaded with the familiar but you've helped me see things with a refreshed set of eyes. Keep 'em coming, Doodle!
I love that you did this! My 400 is super light and small, i am 5’3”, that was a concern for me. I am glad that you verified the weight being light for a 650. My husband has a Yamaha R3 and it feels so much heavier than mine. Thank you for this! Love watching your channel by the way :)
Future Doodle is cracking me up. Editing an older video gets my head all mixed up more times than not and I feel the need to annotate things that have changed, future doodle is genius. Thank you
The z650 and the ninja 650 seem like really great bikes for having fun around town or for sport-touring. The ninja especially, since it combines the looks of a fully-faired sport bike with the comfort of a sport-tourer. I like that combination. Nice to know that they work well for shorter folks. Will definitely be checking them out.
Good video Doodle, and I loved how you interjected "you" in the video with specific information...Great job there... Oh and congratulations on going full time.
You & Future Doodle did a fine job in summing up the new Kawasaki mid-range line. Alter-Ego's await a firmly grounded view of just what an authentic rider must find after putting a leg over the real deal. All the well reasoned figures printed can never take the place of a rider with experience and sound reason to provide inputs about products that many only dream of riding. My hearty thanks to you, and Kawasaki Corporation for seeing in you a fine example of the modern rider. Have a great month of May Doodle.
The Ninja 650 and z650 share the same 649cc, 180° parallel-twin engine that makes roughly 68hp. The zx6-r is an entirely different animal. It has a 636cc inline-4 cylinder that makes north of 100hp. Also, the mirrors on the z650 are adjustable; instead of the mirror articulating WITHIN the housing, you move the entire mirror housing :)
I loved my 2017 Z650. As you said, it feels very light but it had decent power delivery, especially down lower in the rev range. I liked the narrowness of the tank when I squeezed it with my knees. I’m 5’6” with a short inseam and I was flat footed on this bike. More than adequate power for the highway, and yes, very nimble for the twisties and tight u turns. Great review on this new model. 👍🏽
Doodle I came to the same event the day after you posted in Instagram and got to ride the Vulcan 650 S ABS. Loved the bike. And, yes it was a beautiful ride thru the area that they took use thru. Love your new format of flashing back and forth from the ride to office.
I'm coming to accept the wisdom of long-term riders that no windscreen or BIG windscreen is the way to go. In betweeners just focus more wind into a smaller area of the rider making it feel worse than just a broad calm air blast from no screen. If that makes sense... I have to add though that smaller or midsize screens do look good ;)
Thanks for this review! My wife has been riding for a long time and it’s awesome that women about her size are doing reviews so she can better judge how they’ll be for her to ride. We both get a kick out of your reviews and this one is no exception. Future Doodle probably already knows I was going to say that, though. My wife may end up getting this bike for all the reasons you mentioned. And you’re right, it somehow feels lighter than the actual weight. I think it must be the low and forward weight distribution that makes it feel easy to manage because it’s more bottom heavy, and still feels well planted while riding.
I like getting your initial impressions, whether or not they match the specs. Like even though your bike is actually lighter, the Z650 feeling lighter probably means it has a lower center of gravity, which is important to me. That means it's probably easier to handle in a parking lot as well as more fun on twisty roads. Also if you have to cover a gravel road, that's easier too with a lower center.
Here in Europe the Z650 (and its predecessor Er6n) are super popular at driving schools for the unrestricted motorcycle license course. Definitely one of the most accessible and easy motorcycles to ride in that category. I did my course on one as well. The engine is the same in Z650, Ninja 650 and Versys 650, just slightly different tune in each.
There are up to 700cc bikes (often 500, 650 or 700) for restricted courses (A2, that’s how we called the intermediate license for motorcycles here in France) actually , These bikes see their power taken down to be legally driven by A2 bikers (Idk how they say in English, in French it’s called the « bridage »)
I actually swapped my 675r for a z650 apart from it not sounding as good, as an inexperienced rider it was the right decision as I've become more confident as it's easy and more forgiving to ride, hopefully will upgrade to a z900 in the future.
Future Doodle !!!!!! Am I the only one keeping note 🤔 You've cracked 50k UA-cam subscribers. Go girl....🎉🎊 Charming, informative review as ever, keep them coming and stay safe.🙏
I got one kawasaki Z650!!!!! (2021) Female rider here! , and I love everything about my bike. This been my second bike this bike has everything I want.
I absolutely love the Kawasaki Demo Tour. I did one of the last ones last year and tried every bike. Love the Z650 and Ninja 650 on that tour. Also, you guys did an awesome route. Our demo tour took us on I-5 on a busy day.
Doodle I’m glad you got to ride a Motorcycle that is close to your Triumph Street Triple R. Enjoy your time riding a different Motorcycle. Let the weekend begin. 🙂
I have a 2019 Z650 that I bought in summer of 2020 and as you suspected, it's the seat that is the real sore spot - double entedre intended. Kawasaki does offer a "comfort" seat but reviews on it are mixed and it costs $175, so I haven't bought it yet. I feel it's only a matter of time, though, since the seat starts to become "real noticeable" - let's say - after about 2 hours. An aftermarket windscreen is practically a must for this bike if you spend any time at speeds above 75; I got a Givi model (can't remember which one) that was reasonably priced and massively reduced the buffeting. Oh, and while the Z900 is noticeably more powerful, it's also noticeably more thirsty (about 39mpg for the Z900 [est.], vs. 53mpg [actual] for my Z650).
I used to have a ‘79 Kawasaki KZ650D. Put 10K miles a year on that beast. Put a Corbin seat on it, 1/2 to 3/4 fairing, bags and case for travel/shopping. Lived outside Alexandria, VA and motocamped from up and down the east coast and mountains. Thing was comfy for everyday riding, but a rocket when I yanked the throttle. Even made a few courier runs up towards Baltimore. Felt safer around the Beltway on the K than I did my car.
I have the z400 and I love it! Idk what I’m gonna do when I wanna move up though because it’s so light and manageable compared to pretty much any other bike. It’s a good deal lighter than the z650
The Kawasaki ER6 2 cylinder motor is in several bikes. The Z650, Vulcan S 650, Versys 650 and the Ninja 650. Ninja 650 not to be mistaken for the ZX6 which is a super sport 4 cylinder bike that revs to 14k rpm's.
Riding exactly the same bike in black, I really enjoyed watching your both enthusiastic and informative review on the Z650. Keep up your good job! Best regards from Northern Germany, Rob
I'm pretty sure those mirrors are adjustable.....you just have to tug a little harder. I've owned this bike, mine were adjustable. I sold mine (even though the bike fit me perfectly as a short guy) because the vibes in the handlebars were putting my hands to sleep. I tried every fix imaginable and could not rectify the issue.
I haven't had a motorcycle in a long time but as someone who is only 5 ft 6 and has a 28 in inseam this really seems like something that would be fun for me to ride. Thanks for your great review.
Damn girl you're very informative .love you channel. I could listen to you all day. And just love it when you talk to your self. By the way is that" Doodle Tech". Great video . Keep them coming. Your a hit
I used the 2019 Z650 in my driving schools and it's so forgiving. I'm 6'2" and I'm glad the school got this one. But I ain't gonna lie, the first time I got on it I was overwhelmed haha (specially after months of riding a 50cc scooter). My driving instructor put me on the Rebel 500 to transition into this one more smoothly 😁
tog my licence in the autum ´23 on this bike here in Denmark, I'm 5´10 around 200lbs older guy (39) I found it a little small, but it were very fun starting out on, now that I have the age and mellowed the need for speed, but thanks for you're videos, I like your honorst and opinions on what your testing, keep it up and ride safe
I have a 2017 z650, which is same as the 2021 besides the Dash. It's my 10th bike and I love it. My only complaint is the jerky throttle when it cuts off/on. Even a ECU flash didn't fix it. BTW, the difference between the ninja and Z (besides ergos) is the ninja has better suspension and the engine is tuned differently. The ninja, Z and Versys all use the same engine and frame tho.
You mentioned your feeling a lot of wind on your street triple, your little windscreen may be deflecting and dumping that wind/rain directly to your chest/neck/head. I played with several windscreens on my RnineT Scrambler and found that a tall or none works better.
Really happy to see you doing riding videos again. Please keep them coming! Looking forward to the Z900. That's a bike I'm interested in along with the MT-09.
I sat on both the Z650 and the Ninja 650. The ergonomics are different. I ended up buying the Ninja 650 not because of the "sporty" look, but because my arms and hands felt more natural to me with the handlebars.
This was funny to watch, thx! Few month ago I was in the situation to restore my old Suzuki or get a newer bike. In second case already watched out for the Z650.
The mirrors are adjustable just stiff when new. I thought it was a slow bike but then I hit the power bands. Careful on this one it will surprise you if you don’t have a lot of experience I can only imagine the mt07
Hey Doodle The mirrors are adjustable. You have to hold the arm firmly to adjust the mirror 👍 Keep up the fantastic videos, they are super helpful and inspiring over here in the UK 😊
Assume Doodle!! I need to go out and test ride more bikes. You make it look like so much fun. I know it is. Congrats on 50k subscribers. Keep up the great work, Stay safe out there.
Those mirrors ARE adjustable…..they’re just very stiff and harder to move than a lot of other bike mirrors, but once you move them to where you want they’re there forever…. And 1:21 that’s what she said
Hi 👋 Doddle 😀 Kawasaki makes good bikes, I know you are going to enjoy riding them, right now I am visiting with my brother in Dallas Ga and will be returning back some time Sunday I asked you once if you were somewhere around Atlanta and I never heard anything back, my nephew just got a new Harley Davidson Road glide, well enjoy the rides be safe
See my reviews on other mid level bikes here: bit.ly/NMidLevelBikes
What would you like me to test ride for you next? Let me know down below!
Do you think it will make a good stunt bike
I'm a short legged 70yrs old disabled rider, so your reviews are spot on for me. I'm sure there are others that would agree !
You crack me up. Thanks for not taking yourself so seriously and having fun with riding as it should be.

Bought a used 2020 z650 a month ago (with under 100 miles!) after deliberating against the mt07. I'm quite happy so far. I'm a new rider.
I a novice who just bought the z650RS. I haven't ridden in 40 years. Taking my MSF class the end of April and then I will start riding my new toy.
I love the back and forth with “Future Doodle” and the teasers are killing me!!!

I have a 2007 plasma blue Kawasaki 650R Ninja. I've had no issues in fifteen years except for some fairing buzz. Kawasaki are great bikes.

I did a demo ride on a ZX6R recently. Haven't posted the video yet but it was fun.
I haven't had a motorcycle in a long time but as someone who is only 5 ft 6 and has a 28 in inseam this really seems like something that would be fun for me to ride. Thanks for your great review.
I did a Kawasaki Good Times Demo Day today in Oklahoma City! I loved the Versys 650 and the Z900 was insane!
Keep up the good work. Love ur review as an average road user perspective. Which is surprisingly rare out there. Definitely easier to relate to.
Great video/review. I've been watching your channel since the beginning. You sure have come a long way. Love the confidence and humor.

BTW, the difference between the ninja and Z (besides ergos) is the ninja has better suspension and the engine is tuned differently. The ninja, Z and Versys all use the same engine and frame tho.
LOL!! I like the "Future Doodle" clips. It makes it entertaining.
I"m glad I saw this one. Great job 😊
yooow this is what ive been waiting for!
Future Doodle is AMAZING !!
The name tag. XD Too fun with editing! Nice job and keep going Doodle.
Just discovered you! This review was very fun to watch! I Subbed
can't wait to see you Z900 video, that's my baby. love your editing process, very new.
I'm just bought a Kawasaki ZX6r- love them! (And your 'future Doodle' cracked me up...)
hey Doodle, cracking bike, i did my UK direct access tests on one. loved it. it does feel lighter than it is.
Try turning the handlebars all the way to the right when trying to get heavier bikes off the kickstand
You mentioned your feeling a lot of wind on your street triple, your little windscreen may be deflecting and dumping that wind/rain directly to your chest/neck/head. I played with several windscreens on my RnineT Scrambler and found that a tall or none works better.
Yea I’ve thought so too since this video 🤪
Enjoying the bike you are riding is everything. Liked the video!
Really happy to see you doing riding videos again. Please keep them coming!
Looking forward to the Z900. That's a bike I'm interested in along with the MT-09.
+1 MT-09
I sat on both the Z650 and the Ninja 650. The ergonomics are different. I ended up buying the Ninja 650 not because of the "sporty" look, but because my arms and hands felt more natural to me with the handlebars.
Same story here but ended up preferring the Z650 personally
Triumph speed twin in the house now!!!!
Woooo future Doodle! She's so funny! Lovely bike too
Hey, Doodle! I took your advice on which foot to put down when at a stop. I won’t do it any other way from now on….and it looks cool, too! Thanks!
Yessssss life changing isn’t it? 😅
The mirrors are adjustable tho... they might be a bit stiff when the bike is brand new.
Hey Doodle
The mirrors are adjustable. You have to hold the arm firmly to adjust the mirror 👍
Keep up the fantastic videos, they are super helpful and inspiring over here in the UK 😊
Your editing skills are getting better and better. Keep it up!
Passed my test on the z650 back in 2017. Loved it
Loving future doodle, much funnyness. 👍👍👍
I think the mirrors are adjustable, but my rule of thumb is: you keep yanking the mirror 'till I can see out of it or until it snaps off
🤣🤣
Hello madam, I noticed that you don't use front breaks during slowing down or turnings.. is it for safety ?
Great review Doodle!!!
Thanks for sharing.
And 1:21 that’s what she said
Fantastic video doodle and future Doodle, great interaction 👊👏👏👏👏👏👏 well done going full time Carolyn 🤯🎊🎁🌞🌞🎊🎊
Plz, do a complete review / test ride on a 2021 Yamaha Tracer 9 GT. Keep up the great reviews. Thanks
+1
Hi 👋 Doddle 😀 Kawasaki makes good bikes, I know you are going to enjoy riding them, right now I am visiting with my brother in Dallas Ga and will be returning back some time Sunday I asked you once if you were somewhere around Atlanta and I never heard anything back, my nephew just got a new Harley Davidson Road glide, well enjoy the rides be safe
