Meh, Maya is so much better and with better, modern UI, I just wish a few things from Max got carried to Maya, such as modifiers, smart extrude, booleans and splines (and tyFlow)

Great tips. I saw Grant Warwick configure a shortcut for configuring viewport switching rapidly by assigning it to the space bar, so you can easily switch on the 4 window viewports with one click, also the end result when modelling to another key. I love shortcuts, really recommend Keyhydra, where you can assign shortcuts to double clicks on the same key for example, two times u, unhide selected script, I then assign it to a button on my Razer Tartarus Pro or Razer Naga or Logitech G600 button, it's magic! Keyhydra also works context based, so if you're in edit poly mode, the keys change according to the commands inside, like swift loop, cut, target weld, etc. For custom scripts sometimes I make simple ones or search online for example Start Ipr or Abort Ipr. Also before, used Project Manager but then it was too much hassle to be adding libraries and I found Merge & Relink plugin. As for automating, I like to link client models via fbx, usually sent in revit, archicad and sketchup, where you can make changes in the source program and it reloads automatically in 3ds Max. All your tips are right and hit the spots, also have shortcuts for generating proxys on the fy, chaos scatter presets, and railclone are awesome.
    Best regards.

I find the compact material editor faster than the slate editor, but then I have been using it for years.

Me as well. There's a place for Slate when doing more complicated things, but I can setup simple to moderate complex materials in the compact editor far faster when roughing out a scene. And the interface doesn't suffer from the slowdowns that Slate does if you have material libraries open.

Hello Aga. A nice topic you should cover would be on which practices are best on maintaining your Asset Library, what storage hardware is best to use (ssd, hdd, NAS, raid), local storage vs cloud vs server etc. There are a lot of times when you put so much effort into building your "absolute library" only to get betrayed by the death clicking of your hard drive. It's so disappointing to experience it!

You are amazing with all help and tips and courses you provide. Can you tell us how to set 3ds max temp, cache folders, page file, virtual memory in OS, in windows? I have several ssd and hdd drives inside, but not sure if I set my page file and all folders from 3ds max customization options properly.

Hi. I search for 3ds max batch render plugin to make a queue of multiple files for rendering. I work with vray and fatorm.

quick attach is a very useful script, but the final "accept" dialog really annoys me, it's an unnecessary extra click

I thought for a long time whether to save the textures and models in one place or to copy everything to the project folder. I ended up organizing the information into three groups:
    1. Basic library. Source material with all purchased, downloaded and own textures, models and materials. From here I copy the selected parts to the project folder.
    2. Standard models. Selected models and textures that I use in several projects constantly. These do not need to be copied to the project folder, common resources for all projects.
    3. Project. Textures and models created especially for the project. Later, a part made for a specific project can move to the standard models library.
In addition, the source material received from the client will be included in the project folder.

I keep my textures for each project in the project folder. In case I need to move the project to another computer and you have to find all the textures.

@@TheTimeProphet maybe better solution would be all 3d assets in one library on external hard drive.

Younger generation architects are smiling at me when i talk about 3dsmax. Their current topics are about blender, rhino, enscape, twinmotion or d5 render vs.

Well current topic is about UE5 only. Max, blender rhino (LOL) etc will be dropped after UE5 get own modeling and texturing tools.

Absolutely true, blender modelling is way faster and super fluid. I now don't use 3ds max for modelling much. However edit poly modifier of 3ds max is unbeatable.
