Went to an appointment only estate sale for clothing a couple of days ago. It was very overwhelming with over 5000 pieces of clothing to go through with a few others shopping at the same time. My husband and I had four rooms to go through and I picked up several high ASP clothing items for $5/ item. After I spent $125 the estate sale owner told me friends of his that own a boutique had first pick on all of the clothing and they took 4 hours going through it and spent $800. My Heart sank wondering what I missed. Well to my surprise when I got home and put the clothing under my professional lights every single piece has a flaw. 😢 I had thought they missed the pieces that I had bought. ... nope they caught all the imperfections. Silly me thought they had missed it or didnt know the brand. I will be taking a flashlight with me to estate sales from now on. The house was dimly lit inside and it seems to be the trend at most estate sales I go to. . They want you to miss the imperfections. They are masters at staging! Lesson learned. We all make mistakes especially when we are tired or in a hurry. It's a reminder to slow down and inspect throughly before checking out.
Yup we all mess up sometimes! In better news...thanks going out to you for the heads up on my latest estate sale pickup...a NWT Ruffwear rain coat for $2 (sold for $45 😊) :D Peace!
Damn Ben. Heavens knows we've all been there. I am really looking forward to seeing the sales for the model ships you found a while back. Blessings, K.T.
If you add in the price you would have got if you sold the lightbulb you would be ahead! I have made a couple of similar mistakes like that, the excitement of finding something 'really good' and then getting it home to find it is a copy or a lesser brand. We learn from our mistakes. I have learned so much about vintage toys and games from you already and this mistake has given me another lesson. Thank you for being transparent in your results 😁
Ive been buying and selling for about30 year's, and we all have dayslike this and bad buys. I bought storage units for about 20 years and people always ask me what the best item or most valuable item was that I ever found. Then I say well let me tell you the worst units I ever bought first. Once I was hitting an estate sale and it was a dream come true so much NOS car parts stereo's cameras Ray bans. I was junk drunk and I picked up this one box that I looked up and it was a high end car stereo that was selling for 300 and it had a price of 100 and I put it in my stack and I did not look at first, but thank god right before I paid I did look and it was the only one that they had put the old factory car stereo back in the box. That was close, but I have done it way too many times, a lot less now adays, lol.
I use business policies for my shipping and I direct ship to Canada. Sold a piece of corning ware, and when I packed it and went to buy the shipping label, I had horribly underestimated and basically made no profit on that item. Things happen.
Not looking over the item in detail is the worst habit I have when sourcing. I get so excited finding something and end up missing some issue that makes the item useless. For example, I saw this camera for sale for 5 bucks. I looked over it and it looked decent. It was worth around $200. So just looked on the outside and bought it for 5 bucks. Took it home and after further testing, the inside mirror was gone and there was mold in the eye port. How the heck did I not check both very critical pieces of a friggin film camera? So yeah, Im with you on the easy stuff that you can sometimes gloss over.
One big mistake I made the other day was buying what I thought were New Balance 560s new in box. When I got home to list them I had two left shoes. I did try selling each pair solo but ended the listings after 2 returns saying they didn’t know it was one shoe.
Eekk I’d hate to ship those cool lightbulbs… I do clothes and shoes mainly and yes we all make mistakes sometimes….😅 you have so much knowledge on toys and things tho wow 🎉😅I hope reselling never goes away…. Best job ❤
It’s almost like you did this intentionally for a video, which wouldn’t be crazy at all lol…you had quite a few mistakes like you said and you’re very informative as to why. Loved the video.
I just bought a ceramic Christmas piece. It was 9 bucks. I get home noticed one important piece is chipped off missing. There was one other listing at 120 I listed mine at 70 free shipping due to issue. When I checked the other listing I assume it notified the seller with better condition item and they sent me an offer of a 100. Of course I didn't accept I only looked at theirs as guidance to price mine. Guess what mine for 70 chipped got an offer of 60 in less than 12 hours. My damaged item sold faster than the better condition ,more expensive item. So just cause it's damaged doesn't mean it won't sell fast might sell quicker due to someone wanting a deal that knows how to fix.
One time I bought like 15 webcams for 7.99 each and I thought they were these other ones I sold in the past for 60 bucks. Unfortunately I spent 85 bucks and didn't sell one of them I bought them two years ago and still have all of them 😂😂😂.
there is something about estate sales like this that I don't like. they seem to have a bad energy. I guess it depends on who else is there but the feeling of desperation from other buyers seems to permeate my nostrils.
If you end up wanting to sell the other sky dancers, I've been looking for some for my daughter. I have two bases, but no dolls. I would love to buy them! I know eBay will cancel them, but I think they may be safe on FB Marketplace and Mercari! I'd love to know if you want to post them. Thank you
Mistakes happen bro, especially these days when quick hunting matters with so many hunters out there...messed up on a backwards ps3 because I didnt notice the warranty sticker was peeled, someone attempted repair
BUT….what if by some chance we made this same mistake before watching your UA-cam channel lol. So most of us have made this same mistake plenty of times
Depending on the traffic/competition in the sale, I don't think it was a mistake to pick up the two boxed figures without opening them up. YOu usually dont have time to spend opening everything at first glance. But definitely should have taken a peek before leaving the sale haha.
. Add in description something to the effect.. Perfect for upcycle art projects. I personally have many broken toys waiting to be "Sid from Toy Story-ed"
I really appreciated seeing this video. It’s easy for everyone to show the wins but takes more vulnerability to show the misses
Just another reason I continue to follow. You show the good the bad and the broken!
You’re right we all make mistakes. Thank you for being honest ❤❤❤

I was at this sale! I went on Sunday when everything was 75 - 90 percent off! Great video maaan! 👍
Thanks for your honesty and transparency!
I definitely need to start looking up more things when I source. But great video! Thanks for sharin

didn' you once find a disney leather jacket or Tomorrowland leather jacket? I am looking for the video but I cannot find it?
Making mistakes is kind of one of the worst parts about being human lol

What platform do you sell the sky dancers on?

Hey awesome video as always man!

Please post your vide frequently cause we missed you bud
At least you make money on the video!
So, sales like that the seller has already looked everything up and knows the exact worth of each item and prices them accordingly, just fyi
I don't think ebay allows lisitng those old light bulbs anymore
I've been reselling over 30 years and still make these mistakes
i mean 2+2 =4 - $12 for $100 figures? something mustve been wrong with them, considering that other valuable toy was marked up to $1200
Ikea baggin
Still some W’s in there too. Sounds like the model ships are going to more than make up for it
Another mistake.. 2:59 vintage black (chase) megazord, quite rare!
It happens brother!
Could the figures that have detached limbs have rubber bands that broke with time and be fixed with new bands?
Unfortunately not. There are little plastic connectors on the limbs that are broken off.
. Add in description something to the effect.. Perfect for upcycle art projects. I personally have many broken toys waiting to be "Sid from Toy Story-ed"
It's easy to miss things when you're moving quickly.
“Johnny West” not Johnny Quest lol
LMAO also sweet chucky finster shirt hahaha
Thanks for sharing
I love chicken ❤
We all make mistakes and learn from them. Two Words.... Madame Alexander😅
Ben go on in ☮️✌️❣️

This stuff happens
Ben is a human being? Who knew, LOL
Well like my dad said. " life is like baseball, you can't get your big strikes without risking your balls. Better luck next time.
👋 Ben you got back up and dusted yourself off lesson learned you will never forget to check inside a box again Let’s go knockoff polypocket🥰👊✌️
Ur everywhere.
@@gregkareem9824 you too👊✌️
First!
oh no you're doing the "hold the microphone" thing that the gen Z people popularized lol.
the woman even said they were broken to you , you didn't listen or hear her.
@@NiF617 No she didn’t. She wasn’t speaking to me. She was answering the question “Didn’t we have a box for her?” the other lady asked her…
