      That's actually quite easy, fireworks are just timed bombs: you only have to compensate the fuse length.
      Say your rocket explodes 4 seconds after being ignited, just set it up to be ignited 4 seconds before the beat you want it to explode on. There are whole shows and even competitions of that.

      @@MikeGoodrich They have a pyro team, so it's their job to count the fireworks to go off in sync with the song. Of course Tuomas as the main composer (the key.boardist) had to accept, and he likely directed the team. I still love Nightwish and I still think Floor is the best female rock singer on the planet, but I've since discovered a band that has pushed Nightwish back to my second favourite hard rock/metal band. If you like metal, especially the classic 80's Speed/Power/Thrash metal, then you should check out Lovebites, a Japanese, all female metal band. They sing in English, but the vocalist's enunciation is imperfect becuase she is not singing in her native language. I didn't realise that was Dawkins' voice. I've read his books but not heard him speak besides here - he coincidentally has the perfect voice to narrate that part for this song, wow!

  • @EricManktelow
    @EricManktelow 3 роки тому +516

    The narrator is Prof. Richard Dawkins one of the world's leading evolutionary scientists.
    They've used passages from his book The Greatest Show on Earth and he narrated it for the song on the album.
    He also walked out on to the stage at Wembley and spoke it in person.
    The band (especially Tuomas who wanted to be a biological scientist before he became a musical genius) were star struck with having him agree to come on stage with them to narrate in person.
    And he was blown away (and terrified) because he's done lectures etc but never to 12500 screaming fans at a Rock concert.
    So glad you watched it to the end, loads of reactors miss the pay off of the climax with them all thanking the crowd and hugging.

    The very special thing about Nightwish is that every band member is a genius in his/her field but they work together perfectly and step back as a person behind the music. You can see this clearly when a band member finished his/her part he/she often leaves the front of the stage and goes into the background. And you are right, Mike, everyone of them could be a star by himself/herself.

The only criticism I have is that you didn’t give the drummer or the amazing keyboard member any recognition that they so well deserved. I understand this is a overwhelming concert and their is a lot to take I in. My suggestion to you is to watch this a few more times so you can see and hear all the little nuances that each member contributes to the overall sound and visuals which makes this a MASTERPIECE...good reaction for first time listing to this amazing band...Judy D from NY State

    Dear Mike, this is why the Nightwish Army loves Nightwish. The ability to overwhelm guys like you - well, trust me, we have all been there, and still are at every concert and new record. This is Nightwish in a nutshell - and - as you said - using the technology to underline the messages in their songs. But having said that, these 6 are unique. Tuomas are the modern Beethoven, Floor, Marco and Troy are completely insanely voice nerds, and Kai is a technical master on the drums - and Empphu's guitar handling are superb. And look at their chemistry - as Floor puts it: They are brothers in arms. They take the lead on shifts appreciating each other - the are the masters of live concerts, giving people experiences in more than just the ears.
    This is Nightwish.
    Great reaction from you - and you are by far, not the oldest. There are fans from 10 to 90, and a large portion of these are between 40 to 70.

In the later one Marko forgets the lyrics, (War Pigs was the song i believe, the last song), and reacts to that in Finnish: "Perkele!"
