Nice! I painted the shell for the box art ;)
Wow, that bodyshell looks fantastic, and the black wheels look really, really good. It looks very much like a BTTC car!!
I think you've done a pretty good job. 👍
Looks great to me!!!
The best tape to use is either the yellow Tamiya tape or green frog tape. Then grab some blue 3M masking tape to cover over the large parts as it sticks really well. Liquid mask works nicely on more complex designs. End result looks fine to me :D
Your last comment was “I know you don’t tune in to watch me waffling on” yep that’s excellent what I do 😂 get you air brush out, bin the rattle cans. Bodie builds are my favourite bit. I’m very much in to scale repro. Most of the rc stuff seams to be about performance apart from crawler and trail. I like rally/ touring cars that just look right
Core RC do masking tape. Various widths and it’s yellow like the Tamiya masking tape. It’s worth a try. The body shell you have done looks great 👍🏻 looking forward to seeing you next time. Taking it out on track.
Hi Gavin, try liquid mask. You can paint the complete body with this stuff (three layers) and then use an exator knife to remove the mask from the areas you want to paint. With a little bit carefull work you get sharp lines, also in curved areas.
On the masking issue: Liquid Mask, that's the secret. As long as you have a steady hand with a scalpel (I don't) you can do amazingly detailed masking jobs with it. Only downside is the Bittydesign stuff I have is not compatible with rattlecan paint, so airbrush/paintgun only.
It came out looking like a rally car so be happy, liquid mask is awesome watch a Hemistorm or Matteo's painting videos those guys are amazing at painting, we all make mistakes have fun
Even though you weren't really happy with the process. It was ok. Us hobby dorks are always rougher on ourselves.
Have you tried liquid mask? Frog tape works quite well too. Looking forward to seeing this run as it’s one on my wish list.
For a shell that you weren't very happy with,it's turned out great Gavin.
The bodyshell looks amazing. I like your idea of black front wheels and white rear wheels.
You did a great job, the car looks awesome
brilliant
Two words LIQUID MASK
Looks good to me!
Bittydesign liquid mask..best way to paint and if you dont airbrush you can just apply with a regular brush
Have tried painting with clear first? That way any gaps under the masking get fillled with clear. Then you add your colour.
Good idea, I'll try that
You say that you aren't overly happy with the body but looks like you rescued it well.
I use 3M 06529 Precision Masking Tape, super thin so you can see through it when doing overlays. Not that easy to find in the U.K. though.
man I know your pain right now! I tapped up a Tamiya Brat poly body a week ago and the tape lifted all around the crome parts, it was a complete mess and my fault for rushing.. just stripped it all and clean up for a second go at it..
that body you did looks really good to be honest and I find the Tamiya tape is really good as it molds around shapes and stays put..
I did not use the Tamiya Tape myself on the first go of the Brat and that was my first mistake..
I like the idea of that 4X4 kit also, sounds intresting
I've noticed that Wilkos cheap masking tape is really good, but put it on and paint within 24 hours to avoid any stickiness left behind.
I’ll give it a go as I have a store just down the road
@@RCKickschannel well attempting a paint myself but not got my usual tape so Duck, some random thick tape from my model trains, and tamiya tape on standby. Need to leave the bonnet, roof and boot till my ft arrives this week 😆
Tesa tape is your best bet, you can get it from amazon
Try. Liquid mask by Bittydesign. I’m just working it out myself but so far I’m impressed.
I'll check it out!
I've done my nephew his first hobby grade rc for Xmas I got the same one so we can run them together but trying to find motivation to paint them and every time I get motivated it rain joy of living in England 😂😂☔
The bodyshell looks great! I try to make mine look good, but they get raced, so end up pretty sorry looking ;)
I use to spray RC car body shells for a shop for all those who couldn't do that and made quite a good living out of it one piece of advice I can give you is always spray white last obviously if your tinting the windows that's the last thing to be sprayed
Just as a sideline you going to say I'm mad here but believe it or not Sellotape or sticky tape as it's known makes very good sharp edges on plastic body shells as long as you don't leave it on too long you will not get any sticky left over on the shell but it's very easy to remove if you do using a bit of petrol lighter fluid on a soft cloth also the beauty of using petrol lighter fluid it's a very good cleaner for your body shell as it dries very quickly spray paint stick better and stronger
tamiya masking tape and heat it up with a hair dryer once youve put it on it the hard to get places
Won't that melt the glue and it will have trouble painting that area where the glue heated up my opinion
Get yourself a can of Core RC Clear Sparkle in lieu of metallic paint, it looks great.
I find painting Lexan shells that the paint can lift the tape after a couple of coats. I am still learning compared to the amount you and many others have done but that is my experience.
I think that shell ended up descent and I would be chuffed with that.
Have you tried frog tape I’ve never used it on rc stuff but I use it on models and on metal projects I’ve done it’s the best I’ve used
Masking tape? I only use 3M tape normally. They do a blue paper masking tape which is excellent for large areas, medium stick and very low residue. It's all I use for paper masking.
For fine line tape, I also use 3M. Their fine line tape is plastic rather than paper and is also dark blue so very visible. It's similar to Tamiya fine tape, but I prefer the plastic as it bends round corners easier than Tamiya (which is also very good). It's all I use for airbrushing now.
I use green masking tape when painting body’s
I have a question for the R/C community on this. I purchased this body from Schumacher. I got the Montec 308 TCR. My body looks the same except for a couple of differences. First my rear window does not have a mount for the wing. My wing will mount differently. Also my rear wheel wells are not quite as pronounced. Did Schumacher make changes to the body?
Hi Gavin, I am considering getting one of these cars. What body is it that is shown in the box art? Where did you get the body? If you know what wheels and tires are shown on the box that would be helpful as well. Thanks
My car has the body and rims from the box art. You can get them directly from Schumacher Racing.
I keep my tape in a plastic ziploc bag do the wheels red you know you want to lol
Great channel! Is this the best kit for rally racing on dirt? I want to get a kit that already has most of the upgrades. My budget is $350.
Thanks
No this is a road car. Take a look at a XV01 ua-cam.com/video/e0xcRXy0ZEk/v-deo.html
@@RCKickschannel thank you...I bought a tt02😕
I know I'm late to the party but how did you find it drives? I have been looking at the TA03R-S but now I've seen this I might change my mind. Probably end up with both but how do you think they compare? Great looking car by the way 👌
It drives really well. It’s my only FWD car but it’s really easy to drive
I stopped spraying my bodies outside because of bugs that flew into them while spraying, causing a real mess
Have you done the driving video for this one yet?
I'm sure it was driven in one video.
@@RCKickschannel have you got a link to it, I can’t seem to see it in your list
sir do you race 1:10 scale touring car? any review on touring cars
Loads . Take a look at the channel video collection
Red rims
why not enter into a club and start Racing? they say that 1/10 fwd touring cars are easier to race than the 4wd.
Shit, everyone is saying Liquid Mask..... how about a New Roll of Tamiya Masking Tape.
Start using liquid mask!!!
