Kevin, you lost to my volcarona fair and square by missing a bunch of stone edges. Get over it.
I'm suprised you didn't mention the Optimal dungeon exploration strategy of bringing 2 pages of reviver seeds
LOL You're 100% right! I actually didn't use a single reviver seed in the main story since I saved them all up for post-game dungeons.
I spit up my drink when the letter hit you lol
The humor and the skit was really well done! This game has a deeper story/lore than I expected
Thank you, Angel! Yeah, the story's strength is really surprising and after revisiting both Rescue Team and Explorers, I think Explorers manages to take it to the next level.
Don’t mind the spoilers, started with the games when they came out fifteen years ago. I remember playing these games when I was on road trips with my mom. I also was around 11. Started with blue. Here excited for the new edition.
Welcome aboard! I can relate a lot with the age and starting with blue, which is neat!
Watching your attempts at filming the letter gag was excellent.
I'm glad this is the one you went with.
Never did I think getting hit in the head with a letter would be so fun.
I love the use of music from 999 and this whole video was very funny, good job!
"A common staple of the mystery dungeon series: the personality quiz"
Gates to infinity: "Am I a joke to you? ... don't answer that"
Actually, the crying portrait WAS used before the finale; it was used when the partner checks the mailbox after Team Meanies ransacks it, only to see it was emptied out.
Got it, I must've missed that one. Thanks for the heads up!
I know this video is 2 years old, but I'm happy to see more Pokémon Mystery Dungeon content I havne't before! =)
By the way, and maybe you know this by now, but I noticed that you played the game at the default "slow" walking speed; and I'm not talking about running with B.
You can increase the speed Pokémon walk in the settings! I don't know why this wasn't the default, but hey, having that option is cool none-the-less! =P
In English it should be -> Open the menu -> Other -> Settings -> Dungeon -> Speed (and set to from "Slow" to "Fast")
Man I love your vids. Only found you a few hours back but yeah. That mail gag was great.
Welcome and thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoy the videos!
10/10 camera work by shwy
Scranscorp thanks.
Another great video! Super interesting and also funny! It's so cool the way you talk about the games you like!
And the letter gags: 😂😂😂😍😍😍
Thanks so much, Daniel! I always want to make sure that my passion can show people why these games are loved and maybe some ways I interpreted what scenes meant, so I'm glad you're enjoying.
We got the chance to film those letter takes this weekend and it was a blast lol.
I wasn't expecting to hear 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors music so you earned a like
This was really good I kinda hope you end up talking about the rest of the series. These are some of my favorite Pokémon games and I’m kinda hoping we see a remake of Explorers of Sky.
If this title sells well then I could definitely see an Explorers remake on the horizon! I'm a big fan of the Explorers titles and have plans to play Super for the first time pretty soon.
I played through red rescue team as a kid numerous times and did a 100% competition of red rescue team. I made sure to get machop as my starter. I played every dungeon. Such a awesome game can’t wait for dx!!
Respect for making it through the level 1 dungeons! I'd like to try them again with the remake.
Gardivour and gengar make this game so Interesting
I definitely think they have the most interesting dynamic of the cast.
really good and well made video, but now I want to see you talk about Explorers at Sky
Thank you! I'm definitely open to the possibility of it since I really enjoy the Explorers trilogy!
THAT WAS MY FIRST
Damn the skits are hilarious! great in depth video! Also about a lvl 1 restriction no items no IQ dungeon. I have beaten Destiny Tower in Sky. Tedious AF but atleast I got the Space globe legitly other than Wonder mail codes, :P
This is really well made, it deserves more views
Kelp Oceans Thank you so much!
Ok we need a video like this on explorers
WHOA GREAT FILM MAKING!!!
I’m excited for the remake
So excited for this game!!
The music 🤷🏻♂️
The dungeons 🤷🏻♂️
The story 🤷🏻♂️
The postgame.... mehhhh
They hopefully add multiple evolution homes. I always wanted to be able to model my house as a charizard 😏😏
Extremely excited for everything in this game and love that music and story
That would be really cool to have multiple house styles! I wouldn't mind a Swampert house. Sky Tower, Magma Cavern, and the Swamp Friend Area theme are such great songs.
My sister and i loved these and the explorers games, so fun
My favorite and first pokemon mystery dungeon :D
In order to heal over time faster and easier, you can just hold A and B to skip turns.
Finally, someone else who uses Mudkip and Charmander. I always use Charmander as my main (and name him Charizard) Mudkip as my partner in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games
Ok but how about that feeling when you finally recruit Kecleon? The true god of the game
Truuuuuue! Good point, well made lol.
okay but what the hell is a groudon im still lost and cant find the stairs out help
Hello? Is this thing on? Am I all alone? Is anyone there? I need to find the stairs.
I kinda want now to hear your opinion about explorers of sky
I really enjoy it! Perhaps more than Rescue Team. I used to think less of it many years ago, but replaying Sky helped a lot. I wouldn't mind tackling it in a future video.
For the life of me, I will never understand the love people have for Mudkip.
It was always easy trecko for me, I think I've only chosen torchic once and that was just for a 420 meme dream team...
Other than the first two gens' stories being the best stories I could hope for in a main series Pokémon game (coming from someone who played Pokémon Blue for the first time in 2016, who had played SoulSilver upon release but not the original gen 2 games, admittedly wasn't fond of Black's story and thus didn't play its presumably better sequels, derived some enjoyment from Moon's story and didn't pay too much attention to Pearl's story even when Sinnoh as a region lent itself to reinforce it), which is more than likely something more subjective than not, I agree with most if not everything that you presented in this video. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team was the first game I could call my own (it hit me when you said the same thing about Pokémon Silver), and just like you, I devoted countless hours of my childhood to playing it. It being both my first game and my first Pokémon game (I had already been a big Pokémon fan since before gen 3 released in the west), I was quite a noob when it came to the gameplay so I got stuck in some places, and when I wasn't getting stuck I was doing missions nonstop or just exploring dungeons I had already been to for the sake of it, so I could've very well been upwards of 100 hours (or even 200 hours for all I know) into the game by Magma Cavern. And I never did beat the game. Two years after acquiring it, when I was saving the game, out of the blue, japanese characters and nonsensical symbols started popping up in my text boxes. When I restarted the game, all save data had been damaged and my only option was to restart the game. I was not willing to let all those fond memories of me enjoying my first game fade into dust by starting my adventure all over again, so I stored my cartridge never to be touched again. I think this occurrence prompted my determination not to replay any games which weren't founded on the premise of replayability (such as The Binding of Isaac or Spelunky), for the first playthrough would be the only truly approached one (I know there's games which have progression/skill curves which are supposed go beyond the first playthrough such as the Bayonetta series, and games which can be tackled in different ways such as the Metroid series, but, even if this isn't the cause, I still can't bring myself to replay any of these games). That is, until I played and (almost) completed Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (I don't know if New Game Plus would count for this in the eyes of other people but it does in mine), even if I never finished the New Game Plus playthrough (there's so many other games to play, I suppose I'll finish it at some point just so I can genuinely say I 100% completed it, but I'm still halfway through Xenoblade Chronicles X - almost 100 hours in, can't say I'm not having a blast exploring Mira - and have the rest of the Xeno series waiting for me to play, among others).
All this personal stuff aside, this game's story is, for my money, just as good if not better (whichever the case, they tackle to some degree different themes, I just find the ones in this game more compelling given the setting) than that of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky, which I often see being hailed as the indisputably (ever so slightly) better sequels. I'm not saying they aren't overall better, but I'm one who likes to highlight the aspects of a game within its series (for example, main character dynamics in Mother 1 when compared to EarthBound, a game which is very clearly inspired by its prequel).
As for the combat, it's really simple. Some people may claim it isn't but, as far as I see it, there honestly is very little to it. And, in my eyes, it doesn't need to be any less simple. It's more about the survival (like you mentioned multiple times) than the combat alone. The only dumb stuff regarding this topic are broken moves such as multi-hit and full-room attacks, and the hardcore dungeons have always put me off.
This game will always have a special place in my heart, and I'm very much ecstatic to see other people talk about it with so much love.
I still like sky better especially playing as shinx
I'm kind of torn since I think the story, themes, and gameplay of Sky are better, but I like how quickly Red Rescue Team gets you into the thick of it. After replaying them both recently, I might have to go with Sky.
@@KayJulers yeah I know what you mean
I hate when dungeons do that to you. 99 floors, and dropping you back to lvl 1
I'm excited to tackle them in the remake. I just beat the main story, so it's time to finish the job almost 10 years later.
Please, stop having GOD taste at videogames
LOL I cannot be stopped
first ;)
