- As part of Guild's 70th anniversary and in collaboration with Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil, Guild Guitars is proud to introduce the all-new Thayil x Guild range of signature S-100 Polara models. These guitars bring Thayil’s preferred specs and design elements to the famous Polara line, his instrument of choice for over 3 decades.
The Polara Kim Thayil model brings Thayil’s signature design elements to a model that sits in Guild’s more accessible Newark St. Collection, including a Mahogany body and set neck with Guild's distinctive '70s large headstock with Chesterfield Inlay. Vintage correct HB-1 Humbuckers, complete with Alnico II magnets and phase switch, reproduce Kim's signature tones. A bound Rosewood fingerboard with Pearloid block inlays, a Tune-o-Matic bridge, Guild compensated stopbar tailpiece, multi-ply pickguard, Soundgarden "King Animal" truss rod cover and "Badmotorfinger" signature back cover, and gold hardware round out each signature instrument.

Well deserved signature model real nice
Only a decade or two late, thank Fender for that. They simply don't get on, or ever have been, on the ball. They're scared to even stand beside the ball is what they come off like. They didn't even honor Cobain until 2008, aside from a Jagstang, a guitar he designed but didn't like when he got it, favoring the SkyStangs instead. He did play Jagstang, but he admitted himself he hated it by comparison. Anyways, they repeatedly miss the market for guitarists like them, and their fans. They then wonder why their sales are diminishing like crazy... its maddening.

Kim Thayil is beyond godhood -status. Between Kim and the dudes from Corrosion of Conformity there would not be Gibsons in this world today. I was a proud owner of a 1965 Gibson (deluxe 😁😁😁) and am inordinarily proud. TO THIS DAY 😁👍🎉😊😊😊..sorry- Gibson SG Deluxe. I am so fn Proud of that dang guitar.
P.S.: I am a VERY PROUD Owner of a Guild Jetstar. If Y'all want to handle the best nexus of a Gibson SG with the elasticity of a Telecaster.. man that would be the one. My heart and truth, i am for real 👍🤟🤙
i'm left handed bass and i'd still buy a right handed one . one for me and one for my righted guitar play in my 3 peace Band. it really is a great guitar.

I got mine! I had to have it, I would have liked the USA model to be a little less expensive though, I couldn't afford to buy it for $6999.99. I generally don't buy imports, but I had to make an exception for Kim's guitar.
Congrats! I got mine two days ago. Mine arrived perfectly setup and I'm having a hard time putting it down. Hope you like yours as much as I do mine.
@@Zoso981 I bought mine through Sweetwater, the action is way high, the neck needs some straightening. I have a feeling that sweetwater mess with the instruments before they arrive to the customer. I should have bought mine through American Musical Supply, the guitar comes with a guild premium gig bag through them. I had to order a gig bag separately for the guitar. I’ll set it up and jam on it soon. Glad yours came out of the box ready to play. Where did you order yours from?

@@ronnynastthey are on par either Hamer, and that's HUGE. My Bluesbird is beyond a Les Paul in every single way. It's far more loud AND quiet when I need it, top has more figuring and always will from Guild, the fit is superior, after 24 years, this guitar has zero neck and fret sprout issues, ZERO. That's huge again, and then the pickups... stand back, I'm bout to press a red button and it all goes boom. 😆, Guild quickly became my #1.
Edit: Mine is the final year of production by Guild in Rhode Island after Fender bought them, and was among the final instruments to be shipped from that plant. 99' AAA BluesBird. Far superior axe.
I feel this way about my 99 bluesbird made in Rhode Island, last year of true Guild. That guitar is amazing, and is agreed the best guitar in the room evrytime i break it out. The reissue with the rounded cutaway, is not great. Bring the 99' AAA flametop back, and ditch the weird rounded cutaway that belongs on a jazz box ONLY. Thats so strikingly bad looking. You fixed it before, do it again for the sake of your true best model.
