The interviewer being clueless was actually quite entertaining. She asked questions that complete beginners / outside observers of the watch industry would ask, and it was fun to see how Thierry Stern reacted to her questions.
I think your observation is correct for MOST journalists on MOST topics. We should stop listening to journalists and trust our own experience and knowledge about a LOT of topics.
this journalist is clueless... i LOVE what terry is saying and how he views Patek... it is an ultra exclusive brand with an ultra exclusive clientele... i appreciate how he is not a “sell out” by buying into e-commerce... when it comes to high high end products they dont get sold on ebay... not yachts... not jets...not homes in beverly hills.... those buyers have to SEE the product before they pay that kind of money... and those connect watches... are NOT watches... get that straight... they are small computers for your wrist.... another thing... who is the e-commerce shopper? middle-class... patek is not a middle class product..... which this journalist is clueless abt... wonder why?? oh yeah she’s from that CLUELESS network called CNN

She's obviously not understanding what drives true connoisseurs to buy watches. It has nothing to do with electronics and such. It's all about a deep passion for horology itself, the history, the art, the exclusivity, the feats of engineering...an appreciation for the craft itself. None of that can be satisfied through an electronic, connected watch. They are two completely different markets.
The journalist is thinking that Patek is "missing the boat" not focussing on E-commerce...she really don't understand what the product Patek Philippe is about...
Please dont take a PP or a Rolex, AP etc..for an industrial watch, it is Art watch, it is a Totem watch, they tell you a little bit more than time.They are eternal, a piece of Humanity.
