Pump jobs make life easy!

- We had an easy Friday to finish off a very busy and very hot week. We poured with a landscape company, and poured concrete for two foundations. Happy Friday!
I started this channel after I began driving cement mixer trucks in Eastern Washington. As a cement mixer truck driver, I enjoy watching trucker videos but rarely came across local truck driving jobs like cement trucks, pick-up and delivery, and construction. Judging by comments and questions I’ve seen on other truck driving channels, many people don’t realize that there is a side to the trucker lifestyle other than long haul OTR driving. I am excited to bring more truck driving content to the genre. I hope you enjoy it!
Please let me know in the comments what you like, what you don’t like, and what you’d like to see more of as I continue making videos. Thanks!
I’m in training at the moment- trying to learn more as I go watching your videos- thanks from Los Angeles California 👍
Pump jobs always make for a good day!
Fuck those curb machine days though for real lol.
I wonder why he is not making more videos
I started driving a mixer when I was 19 here in Belgium, I quit after a year and regretted my decision so much I’m starting again after New Years. I’m 22 now and gotta say, it’s the best job I ever had. Hope you’ll be making videos again soon man! Really miss seeing some new content about the job I love. I’m even considering making my own videos, showing what driving a mixer in Europe is like. There aren’t many videos around like that. Thanks for the inspiration man!
@ryan7202 I'd love to see your videos of what it's like hauling mud in Europe....the equipment and so forth. All the best to you!
At least you got a second chance man! Good luck to you!
My first week been driving semi for 10 years. Not crazy about it but hoping it grows on me and my skin lol . Good luck to you bud , from NY 🫡
That's one thing that drives me crazy about this job is that u just never know when ur gonna be done for the day
:( But other than that, it's a damn good, easy job usually once u get settled in
This job don't work for everyone. It ain't over until the last load is out
I've NEVER poured a 4" slump into a pump. They always want it at least at a 5" - but it's almost always a 6" slump, and it drives our safety guy crazy because he says it weakens the concrete way too much.. Do u remember seeing the Amazon building being almost wiped out by tornado this past summer in StLouis area? We poured that and poured it again to repair it. The contractor wanted slump at a 6"... and they wonder why the building was nearly completely annihilated. The walls are all concrete...
The ticket for the pour always says 4" slump, but as soon as we get there we have to add melchem and 20 gallons of water.. Drives our safety man crazy. We have to make note of it on our tickets to relieve us of any responsibility as to the soundness of the concrete
we are the same way, I'm in Nebraska. We almost always start with a 5 slump. The contractors usually want a 5.5 or a 6
downshifting on hills is fine if you go for an extra gear lower, and gives you the time needed to make the shift . ex) 4th to 2nd, cheers!
Man I have been watching your videos for months and multiple times a week and the same videos because I’m going into this line of work. Am currently in my hotel room at 5am waiting for my second day of class to start for job with a company that has a CDP job waiting in 6 weeks. I will still continue to check out your videos even after I’m behind my mixer full time. More excitement and more motivation!!!!
Did you get it
You got to start explaining the buttons your pushing, and what they do, would love more explanation. Other than that the videos are great.
I just binged watch all your videos, I need more content man! currently working on getting my cdl and coming across this video made me realize this is the type of work Id wanna do. As a family man I would love to be home with my family every night and it looks likes this the right fit for me. Currently a yard driver so I have experience driving big trucks, just need to work on getting my cdl so I can be out on the road.
That kenworth cement truck sounds very heavy when you’re driving on the road so awesome 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
Here where I work we back up side by side on the pump and as soon as one guy is almost empty, the other guy starts discharging so, they never have to stop the pump.. I'm in St.Louis metro area..
I enjoy ur vids. I just started this job in June and I thoughr it would be interesting to see how other companies/ drivers operate; and maybe I can learn something too.. I drive same make of truck: Kenworth or whatever it is.. Good lookin trucks
never done anything like what you do but love watching how good you are all to you
Nice job and yes always good to get off early on a Friday.
I was doing finishing crete work for Walmart supercenters at 14. Thanks for your hard work! It's not easy for communication and spots you're forced into. You make it look easy. You're respectful of your crete guys. Unlike ours who'd get frustrated by police harassing him and dump the load on the road lol
I wonder if he’s okay, i love your content. Cant wait for more
i just got my CDL B and going to be driving a mixer truck out of the Cheyenne WY area love the vids hope to see you'll be making again soon.
Busy day tomorrow for my plant, we got 10 trucks, 300 yard day, a 90 and a 170 yarder going at same time, both pump jobs. Scrape, flop n go baby!
at least, theyre pump jobs! easy money :)
Thanks so much I'm here in NY been driving in different fields for 6 years just got an opportunity to work for a good Cement mixer company. Your videos have taught me so much. Thanks for the helpn🙌🏽
I can tell by the way you speak that you’re a very intelligent young man. I hope for good things in your life!!
Really love the videos I’ve been watching non stop all week, just applied to my local ready mix company and hoping to be driving soon. Learning a lot while watching can’t sit to be behind the wheel and getting hands on! Keep up the good work!!
Have you started working yet? Do you like it?
Hope u get hired on. It's a stressful job at the beginning, but in a few months it becomes pretty easy, and its a damn good job.. I started on July 5th, and I dont really get stressed anymore.. Good luck
Life at the Redi Mix Plant...."As the Drum Turns"!! Lol
You should make videos again! Love your content!
I ran a mixer for about 6 months and i loved it so much. I always thought i would never be in a mixer but i decided to finally apply and give it a shot and sure enough, i loved it! I hated the truck/chute pours at first but overtime, it was honestly kind of fun. Little change of pace compared to getting loaded, slumping up and backing up to a pump and standing on the back bumper pouring lol. Got to do Shotcrete, special tiny chip mix(don't remember much), colored mix design(was usually a different shade of gray),curb machine, went on a military base for curb, that was pretty cool. I even volunteered to work on a Saturday when we normally never do, it was from 4am - 11 am on a 200yd job with a mix design with like 1 1/2 inch rock. Just a basic pad for Brundage Bone Concrete Pumping's yard. That job was crazy as it was super super fast paced and full discharge into the pump and i mean FULL. We were side by side so once i was done, the other guy starts. Lots of wheelbarrows and buggy's for sure, going high into the hills where you can see the whole city, I could go on and on and on lol. Developed a lot of good relationships with different crews and had some pretty amazing people training me.Tablet system was so convenient too, you just get assigned orders, you accept, pull around fill up your water and back under the plant. There was a menu of all the truck numbers(kind of had to memorize who was who) and tap their number and pick up the radio. Another company i was with, you had to do a lot more manual entering of yards and this and that and it was an open CB channel and had to announce you were back in the yard and so on.
와우 무지막지한 수레작업도 불만없이 타설해주시네요.
시간 엄청걸리실듯요
i love this job because im mixer driver in the philippines almost 20 yrs mixer driver
I was in the concrete industry for fifteen years I started out as a driver and learned how to batch and unload rail cars of aggregate and plant maintenance to a point. People think that all we did as turn the steering wheel and drive like a car that’s not even the case as you have found out that drum has a liquid load that will roll you over if you don’t pay attention and stay alert. I could not even explain how or what happens if that pump runs dry the boom pumps we generally would see had alert button so the pump operator knew to stop before boom now time to clean up all the splatter from letting it run dry. If you never have delivered previous that is something that can’t even explain it’s mostly chemicals I am enjoying the videos.
You should do a video covering the ins and outs of your truck.
As someone who also lives in Washington state I wish you’d still make videos I am familiar with the company u work for and plan on working there soon and would like to know more about the job and company
hello, awesome videos...I just got hired to do this job my 1st day is 2mro pays amazing and am looking forward to learning the gig
U ok man? Haven't seen ya in a couple weeks now, not even a cat video 😜
I’m starting tomorrow! Please add more videos. I’m not ready
I started watching this channel before I started as a mixer driver but so far I've been doing it for over a year now and I love it!
Don't get hung up on thinking you going get pump jobs All day everyday
Love the videos , what kind of gloves you using for wash down .. they look perfect
We had a pump job today started at 1:45am for 700 yards finished the last pour at 10 man was it easy but rough since it was an early pump job.
We did the same back in July. Big pour at a power plant. Clocked in at 1.30am.. we got off at 3pm.. Easy easy money but it gets tiring after 12 hrs
29th Sept my last day doning that after 25 years! Woohoo
Wish you could see the hills we have here in Hawaii, that would be considered a baby hill for us. Lol last week we had a tailgate pour uphill.. the first truck that reversed down lifted its 2 front tires off the ground about 3 feet in the air.
wow holy crap!
stay safe bro!
I could only imagine, we have a super rich neighborhood we were doing curbing in and you rolled back every time
@@willlambert1809 the hills are nuts.. a lot of people don’t know the weight on a ready mix. Way different from anything on a trailer.
For my money, one of the worst pours is footers or walls...for a crew too cheap to have a pump rig (greed...but they end up losing their ass on Truck Time).
Only the veteran guys were sent on these horrible jobs; you had to be a maneuvering expert, know how to use every half INCH of space to reach these footers. On either side of your mixer was a nice drop so NO ROOM FOR ERROR. Our company finally told these half wits "Hey, no pump, no mud."
They started using the pumps. It was even challenging for the front dischargers, but it was HELL for the Rear dischargers...LOL...that sounded AWFUL!!
As hellish as those pours were, when it was done I was very proud of having wrangled my Mack back there and wondered "How the HELL did I get back in there?"
Then I thanked The Lord and headed back to the "barn" as oru dispatcher called the yard.
I never liked driving the front end mixers; I love the conventional with it's long hood. Also, it's claustrophobic in that little space in the front ends.
Thanks for another great video...this retired driver misses it...I miss hauling asphalt as well. Driving a dump truck was like getting paid for playing TONKA TRUCK for REAL.
One other thing; Do you agree there is not much that can match the peacefulness of a Quarry as it's getting dark; you're the last truck in and the dispatcher gives you your start time and tells you to lock the gate. I'd see foxes all the time and deer I think a ghost one time!
That's a long week off bro 😅
Did the horn not work on the first pump? I just cant get over when you mention how may jobs you do... ONLY 3 in 9 hours?! Gosh... I'd love that...
yeah bro, thats usually how my days are too.. or 4 jobs in 9 hrs. It all depends on how far away the jobs are.. It's a pretty good job
Any new videos coming soon ?
Where you been?
Any new videos coming?
do you guys have centralmix? i've never see you add water to the load while slumping
Where you at man ? It’s been forever
Soy de Colombia
I know what you mean but getting ipur hopes up about getting washed up early only for dispatch to send you a last minute ticket.
Start uploading again please 😁
What’s the best boot for a concrete truck driver ?
Spin your drum faster when washing down.
Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV 🔴
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; [20] but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. [21] For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ,,✝️✅️
Incoming to,,the working
Where you at bro?
Would you suggest otr trucking or concrete ready mix driver? I have to make a decision...
Fuck being to loud I drive a front discharge and mix my slump down in 2 mill house neighbor hoods
right. Who gives a fuck if I'm mixing more water into the concrete?! I got a job to do, and I give zero fucks if I wake someone up lol zero.
Dumb question..when do you go to the bathroom and where? Back at the yard ,
So when you do the pump pour you don’t have to add any of the chute extension right?
right. no shoots needed at all ever on pump jobs.. It's so easy
No lunch break??
I'm going to start doing the hear in nc in 2 weeks never drove anything other than my pickup and motorcycle. I'm kinda nervous. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Mixer driver here: Just take it easy the first few loads to get use to how the truck handles and what-not. Show up the the job sites and be friendly and communication is key, ask them what they want and do what the contractors say. Feel free to input your ideas on maybe how something should be done, if they have questions, answer honestly and all in all just do your best and your company will appreciate you
So is there a lot of mandatory overtime with this job? Can you have a normal Monday to Friday schedule and work weekends if you want?
Not when I was doing it. If the work is there you will easily work 12-15 hour days. No set schedule at all. One day you going in at midnight , next day 2 am, next day 1 am etc. you never know what time your going in the next day. I was so miserable. By the time I got home I was asleep by 5:30 just in case I had to wake up at midnight to go to work. Worst job I ever had. No time for your personal life at all.
What company do you work for and is it anywhere in Florida? Random question sorry just curious
I wish my company would buy some McNeilus mixers, instead of continental
4.5 slump thru a pump? holy cow
thats what I said.. I've never poured less than 5.5" thru a pump
@@vaekkriinhart4347 On a hot day that will setup in the pump fast.
@@radiomandemmer5974 right?! I'm new and even I know better
Dumb question. How long or will it take for the concrete to harden even with constantly being mixed in the drum? Is there a set time or distance you can't go over?
Some places will reject the load if it's over 90 minutes old, and once it hits 3 hours it's time to get it off the truck for sure
We have a big water tank on our truck so, u really dont have to worry about it getting too dry and hardening in the drum. U can always add water to it. My water tank holds 100 gallons or more.
Hey, I was told that its very hard to stop a ready mix truck empty is that true or its harder to stop while fully loaded? I start training in march up here in Michigan. Let me know..Thanks
It’s easier to stop when it’s empty. When its loaded you have to be very cautious on traffic lights you have to slow down at least 1000ft before the light. Kinda have to play a guessing game between you and the traffic light. But once you practice you’ll be good. Good luck!
What’s the weekly pay?
How would you compare a pump operator to a mixer driver . ? Which is better ?
Mixer driver definitely better from what I've seen
two totally different jobs. U can't compare the two.. It all depends on what u have a knack for.. I used to be a crane truck operator over 11 yrs ago. I was good. But I jad issues with the company so, I left. I drive a concrete truck now after 10 years being a tree trimmer.. I think being a concrete truck driver is probably the easiest job I've ever had! It's stressful in the beginning as u learn, but most jobs are like that, right? A concrete driver is a good, easy job once u get the hang of it. U gotta be a good driver too, and that takes time.. Having good people skills is a bonus, too. U have to deal with all types of people in different situations.
I started this job 4 months ago, and I'm really glad I did
You guys think his week ain’t over?
Do they guarantee you 40 hours a week ?
It has to be a pain in the ass climbing up and down that ladder to do the wash out
It’s not your just weak.
@@robstoney883 your mom's weak
Not really, I'm overweight and it's manageable lol
seriously?! That's so easy. As long as dont weigh 300 pounds, it's no pain in the ass at all
You know would sure be nice if you made a rookie mistakes to avoid video, and a step by step guide through the rig what to check flip when and why. All that such would be some good content not currently on youtube atm. Cough cough just saying 😏.
Hi, I've been driving a long haul semi truck for many years and now I've been offered a job on a concrete mix semi truck in Canada, something I've never done. Is it easy or hard? Do you like it? What should I know? What's the low temperature below which you can't pour? Do you guys pour in winter?
It's mostly easy, it's only kinda hard as far as the schedule, no set schedule. Also, tailgate jobs and wheel barrel jobs can be headaches, pump jobs are 🍰
What happened to the videos?
Do you need a tank endorsement to drive a ready mix?
No you don’t
all u need is Class B license with air brakes endorsement
In ca u do
Bro I am also driving concrete truck in saudi arabia I want to apply for the job in you company so please help me
Pumps took all of the fun away from the 6x6 drivers.....good times missed
What kind of “physical” is involved daily.
not much. the most physical part of the job is adding shoots and climbing ur ladder on ur truck to wash in and out. It's not a physical job at all. It's all mental combined with driving skills n people skills
What rpm do you upshift at?
As a veteran driver, I NEVER look at RPMs.. I'll look at MPH and use my ears
Every truck is different. Some like to shift in the higher range like 1900-2000 and some like a lower range of 1600-1700. My Kenworth T-800 likes the low range.
Silly question why are you wearing rubber boots?
Wonder what happened to this guy haven’t made a video in four months
covid?
or, maybe he got fired for making videos on site (?)
Is this guy still alive?
WHY put a shoot on if ur just pourin into a wheel barrow??? ur creating more work for urself
REPENT AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST BEFORE ITS TOO LATE 🔴✝️✅️
Question, How much Down time do you guys have in your area, because I started Redi-Mix a few weeks ago and legit quit after the 3rd week, but it wasn't because of the work, it was because they had a lot of "busy work". Do they ever have you guys pour concrete in your own lot at home base when you have over a yard and a half for blocks or to expand the parking lot?? Do they have you guys clean out the shop and the bins over the conveyor??
7 yard wheelbarrow job. I hope they have more wheelbarrows……..🥲
I heard it’s easy to lose your fingers 🫣
