Betaflight: Roll & Pitch -> Super Rate 0.60 vs 0.75 = 960 deg/s vs 600 deg/s currently using 0.75 (960 deg/s) maybe I set up another Rate Profile to test it..
I started that same journey many months ago... Been telling people to slow their rates for a while now. Most don't listen though. It really does smooth things out, and gives you so much more resolution on the sticks.

That end thooooo LMFAO great topic as well yeah i've always used low rates myself and I've found lowering your set point to 50 in the KISS GUI really helps with that smoother stick feel as well

I actually just recently went from 650 deg/s high expo to 950 deg/s low expo/linear on FalcoX. I figured that I really don't like banging the ends of my sticks, I like to play within a smaller margin and when I need it, I know I can throw the quad around if something pops up last second. I realized that with my 650 deg/s high expo I was having to move my fingers way too much, and I had a lot less precision. Different strokes for different folks!
I still like the snap roll. I like to mix with smooth flying.. lol and i dont like hitting stuff with high rates i can dodge better. It's my style and im not trying to lose my style to look like everyone else ✌🏾😎 just my opinion for today.. happy flying
THIS! I did the same as you and lowered my rates from about 1000 and down to 400. It completely changed how I fly and I just love the more smoothness kind of flight, rather than random flippy floppies all over the place. Feels great! 🔥 And also, nice flying as always 👌
I lowered my rates a few months ago for racing, then did the same on my freestyle setup for consistency....it's like getting a year stick time instantly
Not sure if this counts as a nasty comment, but previously my favorite FPV flight edit: of all time, was your video at the abandoned gokart track. It is now this video (super-helpful-rates-insight-bonus). Your flying truly has improved and it has inspired me to try a couple new things with my own. My issue is that another video beat my beloved gokart track video.. please rectify this with another great video soon. Gonads.
I don't really do a lot of snappy tricks and stuff, but I like high rates because I hate having to reach all the way to the top or side of the gimbal to get a roll or trick in
👍 I’ve started running lower rates on my freestyle rigs as well. Much more control. I went even lower on my race rigs as well and it’s helped a lot. Only went from 500 to 425 but it’s made a big difference in my racing.
I stopped adding expo when betaflight started using super expo, which is technically expo. It adds a curve to your rates just like expo. Adding more expo feels like i'm flying under water. I've always run my yaw lower than my roll and pitch though. Nice flying Willy. Are you officially living in Australia now?
Awesome video and perfect timing! I’ve been messing with my rates for the last couple of weeks. One thing that I’ve been trying is lowering my yaw rate instead of it being the same as pitch and roll. I was wondering how you decide what your yaw rate is? Do you calculate it or just go by how it feels?
Love the vid! Gonna try it. I'd forgotten I left my Kwad on the 800 rate profile "low rates for me," when I went to hit the gaps at Cobb . I think it saved my bacon a couple of times but the flights were noticeably better during playback. Really liking my new props but gotta get used to those new 6" HQProps so I don't keep belly flopping the ground 🤦♂️

Very interesting topic about rates. I’ve been on a rate journey for 3 months and I’ve ended up lowering my rates a lot, though not as much as you. The lower the rates the smoother you are, and I guess the softer the centre of the sticks. I’m gonna try your BF rates 🙂
I find this very funny. I was flying 700ish end points for a long time and all my freestyle friends thought they were way too low and so I worked on getting good rates with high end points. After hearing your thoughts this is exactly why i loved flying lower end points and am totally going back to the drawing board in finding my rates lol

I've been saying that rates are more important for over a year glad i have someone else backing it. When guys were asking you and Skitzo "What's your pids bro?" I was like NO ask them what there rates are lol. I've recently started lowering my DPS too. I'm in the low 800's now
Hey, can FalcoX filter out fart smells? Betaflight is making the smell worse. Butterflight won’t answer my emails. Bardwell says that I should just learn to enjoy the aroma. Kapper is confused and apparently doesn’t even know what a fart smells like. Stu recommended a piece of smooth cork. I need solutions, Nick. Real solutions.
Yeah I lowered my rates from 1175 to 1144 not much but I now use the Raceflight1 rates system as opposed to the betaflight...so much more to my liking. As someone else mentioned I like the snappy style and its much easier for me to avoid stuff(though that has much more to do with the curve than the max dps)) I do use really low rates for more cinematic on my 2.5" though.

Well i see your getting alot of smart comments over this lower rate thing but before you get discouraged hear my experience.I have been mostly all freestyle for about a year and half,the hole time i flew 1300 deg rates,which i got pretty good at control even in tight proximity.But after watching your video it got me thinking and i put your rates in just to see how others are doing to compare with mine,i knew i wasnt going to like it but thought it would be fun to try.Well,holly shit.I cant belive the amount of control and confidence i had even in tight proximity.I am so glad you made this,all my kwads will be dropping there rates.Your right i have flew two batteries now at these rates and its freakin awsome.Thanks wild willy

Agree with the rates. I've personally been running stock falco rates which feel to me around 600-700 per sec. Why so much expo tho ? Do you really need that ? for me it just kills center stick feel.

Hi, good point with rates. BTY, Did u use throttle curve and raise up the throttle percentage at low throttle points when u use gopro7？ kind of heavy compared to gopro5 and it feels keep falling down especially at low throttle. Thanks!
@@cidafpv4349 no 25% is %15 and 75% is 70%. But I only operate between those two ranges since above 75% throttle there's not much extra thrust but a bunch of extra power draw and 15% and below is basically the same thrust but you get much better control at 15% compared to 0

Wouldn't the top pilots fly the best though? And has there even been a non-sponsored pilot who has said that they have flown both and like betaflight better? I also feel like a lot of the stuff that made FlightOne good like 32khz and the gyro they used has already been talked about, it's just a matter of some people not believing it even though the data is there :)

I've slowly been doing the same... I got down to mid 600's on Betaflight. Might try to go another 100 degrees lower now, though!

i switched to 600 roll/pitch, and 667 on yaw, with .4 expo (betaflight) and i love it. i cut everything in half! i can actually be smooth now lol.

before i use to freestyle at 1000+ degree rates but now i use my race rates for freestyle which are 450-500 degrees
I'm 100% with you on low rate for freestyle, i'm using them for bando flight and it changed my control drastically

I haven't tried stock falco rates, but these rates are actually converted from kiss rates that I liked in FlightOne then tweaked the RC rate a bit

Nope I lowered the throttle points. I have a pretty intense throttle curve
