I wonder why nobody recommends non-fiction books (historical books, books on true incidents or even autobiography) which can teach you so many things from real life incidents, historical events, events from someones life etc. So much to learn from it. Most of the videos and blogs I see only recommend self help books.

Reading self help books don't really help until you apply the core principles given in them in your life. Otherwise you will be just doing a kind of mental masturbation which will be not useful.
Read, Absorb, Apply..and then see the change in your lives.
Yes this is the point, learning books won't make you successful, only action works
But atleast when you read again and again and engage yourself in reading books something will go into your mind.
