For beginners and casual players; I’ve compiled a list of all the shot types and their usage for reference during a round: Advanced Driving: Loft Occasionally, you might want to add a higher or lower loft to your shot. Adding a lower loft helps keep the shot arc low in strong headwinds, stay under obstructions, or you want more of a rollout. Advanced Approach: Loft a A higher loft allows the ball to get up in the air higher and faster. Can be used if there is a strong tailwind to help add some distance or if you want a softer, less of a rollout on the landing. Work on hitting 5 high loft shots to get over the bushes. Chip Shots A chip is a low shot that is played mostly along the ground and spends little time in the air. Chip shots are generally hit when close to the green and the golfer just wants to get the ball started to let it roll out toward the hole like a putt. Practice hitting 5 chip shots. Pitch Shots A pitch shot is played more through the air and does not have as much roll. This shot travels higher and further in the air than a chip shot. Pitch shots are generally hit with your higher lofted clubs. Practice hitting 5 pitch shots Flop Shots A flop shot travels high in the air, lands softly, and stops quickly on the putting surface. Blast Shots A blast shot is the standard short shot from the bunker. Punch Shots The standard low shot for getting out of trouble. The low punch shot is also a great shot to have in your bag when you're looking for more control or a lower flight, perhaps when playing into a strong wind. Practice hitting 5 punch shots. Power Drives A powerful shot that goes farther than the normal drive but brings a large random mishit circle into play. Stinger Shots The stinger shot is a control shot that flights the ball at a lower trajectory, reduces the spin of the ball, and causes it to roll out farther than a higher-trajectory shot. Practice hitting 5 stinger shots. Power Approach Shots A powerful shot that goes farther than the normal approach but brings a large random mishit circle into play. Knock Down Shots A low approach shot designed to stay under the wind but flies high enough to land softly. A knock down goes the same distance as a regular shot, only lower and with more spin. Practice hitting 5 knock down shots. Finesse Shots A shot that takes some power off to help with gaps in distances between clubs. Hack Shots A strong swing that is used to get the ball out of thick rough with solid distance. Runner Shots A low-driving pitch shot that rolls out a lot. Spinner Shots A low-flying, high-spin pitch shot that lands and checks quickly, Pick Shots A bunker shot hitting minimal sand to produce a cleaner strike and more backspin. Long Flop Shots A long-distance flop that has a decent check. High Flop Shots A short distance flop that goes extremely high and sticks on landing. Texas Wedge Shots A long swing putting stroke that can be accessed from off the green.
I was about to totally stop playing this game until I watched these videos, and now I gotta play it as much as possible thank you for these videos, they are very helpful no doubt!
I too was ready to quit as this game is tough until you level up and get some better equipment. Been playing for three weeks and finally hitting close shots to the cup. I like that it's no arcade game with birdies every hole. Thanks for your videos as they helped me stay the course and persevere. Live long and prosper...V
Man those kind of videos are needed badly🤩 thanks for experimenting and sharing your thoughts. Spinning and club selection will be the next exciting video.
Hey my man - your numbers on the elevation & wind are pretty much accurate - people need to have golf sense to know that different clubs such as wedges will react a little bit due to the wedge itself hits higher & low irons hit lower !!! Your doing a GREAT JOB on your videos dude - keep up the good work !!! Have a GREAT DAY !!!!!
For more accurate testing you can select #17 on Teeth of the Dog as it’s very level from tee to fairway. Then under gameplay settings use 3-Click swing mechanic to guarantee perfect/perfect, and turn on mulligan to be able to repeat tee shot. Then adjust your wind as needed. Allowed me to find all club carry distances for each shot type and make a chart rather quickly.
You should do one on putting with uphill and downhill and how green speeds effect the putt. I had a long uphill putt at wolf creek which required putting the icon 70 feet past the hole to get it there.
I just don't pitch, unless I'm on the green and need to avoid a really bad green slope between me and the hole. I use a runner or lay up at around 100 yds for the wedge approach.
Sorry for late reply. But when pitching. It's gonna run. So aim a few yards short of the pin. And hit the full swing. It will roll forward. Also pay attention to whether you are hitting towards an uphill or down hill slope. Uphill requires more closer to pin Down hill less.
Thank you for this, I actually was thinking I wasted money buying this game because I couldn’t get a good shot. Now just need to get better at my swing, a lot of times I way underswing
Thanks for your work! Your videos are really well-detailed and explained. Would it be possible to have an updated video on wind calculation? I mean distance affects the calculation (further shorts will be affected more by the wind than closer shots). Also, a topic that no one talks about... How to calculate diagonal winds? N-E, S-W, etc. Finally, do you calculate differently facing the wind or the wind in your back? Thanks again for all your work!
Great video. Done al coach challenges and got a bit better. Making pars and the occasional birdie. Biggest two issues I have with the game right now are: 1) rolls on approach shot type. Totally in the dark when they roll like crazy or drop dead in their tracks. Makes for a lot of bogeys or worse. So more on how to read those world be much appreciated. 2) unforgiving puts. I’ve put 8 points into putting, but they are still missing a lot, just falling still on the edge or rolling just beside it. Also, that putting line a lot of times makes no sense at all. Tips welcome. I do enjoy the game btw 👍
I don’t have many upgrades on putting so far and I played Rory McIlroy PGA Tour until the current EA Sports PGA Tour has released. To make the connection between the topics: Putting feels very similar to Rory McIlroy PGA Tour and is a classic try and error thing. I play with Put Read Line but I don’t use it if that makes any sense. Try to get a feeling for slopes, tempo and the break. Go wild und over read it. That’s part of the process. When I see a heavy break putting line, I know to 95% that I'm not gonna trust this and hit more tempo und less break. If you are focused and try to see the put in your mind, you'll develop a strong feel for the putting. This game needs a few fixes but is hella fun & content wise more entertaining than 2K in the long term. I really enjoy it things only will get better

Couldn’t you also test this through the full shot arc setting? This would theoretically eliminate the swing all together and just give you the numbers on perfect perfect
My swing arc doesn't look like yours. I don't have a target power on the back side at the top. I just have an arc and if I go past the end it turns that part red. Do I have a setting that is different?

Off topic but curious to get folks take on the accuracy of the analog swing. Meaning, the actual pulling down then up on the analog and how the accuracy meter displays the results. I'm average at best on PGA 2K, but I do use TGC settings which have many of the aids turned off. But on EA on Hard swing difficulty, virtually every swing I ever do is perfectly straight based on the down/up on the analog. It seems way too easy. And that is with my created player that I just started with. Another part of that, if my "up" on the analog is fast or slow, it'll miss left or right on 2k. But that really doesn't happen on EA either. Everything is straight, it's not enjoyable right now.

Why do all your shots end up on the point with backspin? Especially in my drive shots on the green, my balls become too fast after the impact and then run too far!?
This game is 100x better if you turn off the ball trails and shot arc marker and all that crap. I don't use the grid on the green either, it doesn't even work properly. Use the white bar that shows the read from your ball to the hole when putting. Then use broadcast camera while putting as well, you can get some TV like shots as your ball is rolling toward the hole on the green. improves the game so much and it also looks better.
One quick question that I don't think I ever hear answered. Granted, the answer is probably obvious, but being a computer game it is based on how they coded it - not what it real lol. When dealing with wind, is distance gain/loss based on the raw number *regardless* of direction? or does it use the component? For example, if it is a 20 mph wind in your face, then you have to account for all 20. But if it is 20 mph exactly 45 degrees, then you are only getting 10 in your face. Do you use the 10, or the full 20? Thanks :)

approach is my issue
Just honest opinion do you think ea is better than 2k I think it's too easy
No doubt. Haven't even thought about 2k23 since ea came out
First
First time viewer. Unfortunately 4 min in and I already lost interest trying to get to the point. I still had not heard the vid topic. Don't mean to be a jerk. Just giving feedback.
There are time breaks....... skip to the results if you just want the answers. But I appreciate the kind response and feedback
This not the vid
How so
Your wind stats are COMPLETELY wrong. You failed to take into account the variables of the club used and ball flight. Awful. Truly awful work. Stop telling people things that are BS
And this is the point at which a keyboard warrior gets in the chat and shows they did not watch the video..... 3:34 I mention exactly that wind gusts and shot types will change these numbers........
I’m 7 minutes into this fucking video and haven’t heard a single thing useful.
"3' equals 1yd" 🤣 You don't say..was that "tip" for those that skipped 2nd and 3rd grade?
@lelandgaunt7130 lot of people don't know that partner . You give people a lot of credit
@ Hahah, yes.. you got a point there.
Dude this is a golf game not mathematics. Why are you trying to cheat the game. You take the fun out of the game doing all this 😂😂🤦
Pretty sure real golf is also mathematics...........
@@Ma_Kachada Dude it’s a game it’s not real life. Have fun with it. Why does everyone have to be so analytical with games. Take the fun out of it. It’s like people who buy controllers that are rigged so you swing perfect every time.
@@elvisp2684 people like to play to be more feel players, other like to be more exact. I put out videos to give people options
@@Ma_Kachada the math helps bro, don't listen to this nonsense. I appreciate the video.
Was using this info to my advantage and got a heartbeat approach shot on a par 4. Thanks for helping people out. If you had a better mic you’d have a real pro setup man. Great work regardless!
Thanks
