We reserved the Toyota Grand Highlander Platinum Edition because my husband had a lot of problems with the battery in the hybrid's of the other Toyotas that we have owned. We have had a Highlander Limited Edition gas model and two Prius Hybrids. They had the hybrid of gas and battery in them, and with the two of our Prius models, we had to replace the batteries 6 times. Four on one and two on the other, so he was very hesitant to get another hybrid. So, we have ordered the Platinum model in the red color ( I forgot the name of the color😅) with the black interior. I wanted the brown but could not find that anywhere. So, we are currently waiting for ours to get to our dealership. In the meantime, my husband had also bought a Red Toyota Tundra! He absolutely loves it! It was the Limited Edition and came fully loaded. So, we are definitely a Toyota family! Also, do you recommend mud flaps for that car. We were not able to order one with the features that we wanted so I would have to buy them and have them installed. What do you think? Last thing, I can't drive right now but maybe I will be able to in the future. It is due to health issues. So, how did you like the safety features? I don't like the fact that it stops for you. You did say that you could turn that part off right? How about the other safety features? I didn't get the chance to drive it so I didn't get the chance to test out those functions. I would really like to hear your opinions on the different ones. We bought the Grand Highlander because we absolutely loved our Highlander which we bought in 2015 and I wanted more room and safety features that we did not have in the other cars. Our Highlander was in excellent condition and our daughter and son-in-law needed a newer car so we sold ours to them. They have two little girls and one more on the way! They really love it! Anyway, I really appreciated your review and I would love to hear more about the safety features! Have a wonderful day and God bless you and your beautiful family! ❤ Laura 😊

I think it looks really nice. I like the idea of all that torque in a big family car - but as a van fan, I still laugh at the cargo room behind the 3rd row of 3 row SUV’s. Gorgeous color combination. I love this in white. I'd be more interested in the hybrid version though. Really wish Toyota would eventually give their regular hybrids a bit more power. As a regular Highlander owner, the Grand Highlander styling is ok. It takes some time warming up to. It doesn't pass the turn signal test, as i detest red turn signals in the rear.
Hello, from the review, does this mean, the Grand Highlander can only safely fit three carseats? Can you fit a carseat and a booster seat in the third row of the Grand Highlander? Wondering if the Toyota Sienna is the only option to still go for four carseats. Thank you!
Thank you for your review! I wonder if you have measured the EMF from the hybrid battery? Do you have any concerns that your daughter was sitting on top of the huge hybrid battery?
the v6 is overrated, underpowered and lackluster. the turbo 4 was an improvement and the hybrid max turbo four is in a different class compared to the v6. Also the highlander v6 was very noisy and even with 3 miles on the odo it would still chatter an rattle away; an no im not referring to the noise from the high pressure injectors.
@Jonathan-mp7xg having owned the '16, '20, '22 and now the 2023 model years of the highlander i can whole heartedly say the v6 was trash. It sounded rough, would leak oil on the back of the passenger side of the engine, was not fuel efficient and felt like i had to rev the engine high to get decent power out of it. weather turbos are reliable or not is not important. there will always be something that does wrong on the engine even when your maintain it and change your oil every 5k. id rather be happy with a turbo 4 while its working than be underwhelmed and jerking my passengers around because the v6 has to drop gears and rev high just to get around. Frankly sometime the v6 felt like my old 1999 corolla with a 4 speed transmission
@Jonathan-mp7xg lol well it is a ford product. Dont get me wrong i love my highlander but the v6 was not all that. They have all had other issues too but they are not related to the engine.
There is a reason why Kia/Hyundai became so popular can be found here with the aging infrastructure of Toyota. They are stuck in the 80s and continue to refuse to change their sauce/formulas on reusing the cheap plastic-filled fuel injection models. Good job Toyota for keep making other competitors shine each new car generation cycle.

But toyota used us as guiny pigs and experiemented with a dif highlander design, a more curvy femine luxurious look which was either hated or loved. But believe me, mostly hated. Rav 4 was given the redesign to boost sales and succeeded, and now we are guving the huglander the same duplicate design everyone expected. I do the clapping. 🤣👏🏻👏🏻
A perfectly acceptable 3 row that comes with a warning: An X3 that is nicely equipped and a lot more fun to drive, or a Model Y Performance that's as quick in a straight line as a C8 are about the same money. that 3rd kid better be dutiful is all I'm saying. :-)
😂
As a regular Highlander owner, the Grand Highlander styling is ok. It takes some time warming up to. It doesn't pass the turn signal test, as i detest red turn signals in the rear.
It really looks like a mashup between a RAV4 & Highlander
Exactly!!! Some of the best selling cars had a baby! Why not? 😂😂 I love mine!!
Does the hood rattle?
may as well get a sequia
The sequoia starts at 60k! This TOPS OUT right under 60k!
giggity@@jxmar_
Sequoia actually has less passenger and total cargo space than the GH, and more expensive too
Hello, from the review, does this mean, the Grand Highlander can only safely fit three carseats? Can you fit a carseat and a booster seat in the third row of the Grand Highlander? Wondering if the Toyota Sienna is the only option to still go for four carseats. Thank you!
6.5” longer actually than regular Highlander
The market for automobiles, in particular for Toyotas and Hondas is a horrific bear!!!!
Thank you for your review! I wonder if you have measured the EMF from the hybrid battery? Do you have any concerns that your daughter was sitting on top of the huge hybrid battery?
This was not the hybrid it was review. This was the turbo charge four-cylinder.
@@eleanormassaro5195 I thought only hybrid max has that brown leather seat.
Bridge in N. Shore Rd, Lake Arrowhead ❤
You guys should make a top 10 armrest video lol.
Use a velcro strap with the wireless phone charger it might help
Nice review! Cool family!😊
Limited grand high lander cost me 75 k in Canada for that price interior is very cheap not good quality

If it only had a naturally aspirated V6!!!!!!!
the v6 is overrated, underpowered and lackluster. the turbo 4 was an improvement and the hybrid max turbo four is in a different class compared to the v6.
The regular hybrid comes with a N/A engine and crazy good fuel economy.
@@oshane2012 LOL! Underpowered? This only tows 5,000 pounds, my 2023 Pathfinder V6 tows 6,000 pounds and has.
That's the exact reason why I buy a Toyota.
@@puregsrThat’s reason I stop buying Toyotas…
You only live once… Go out and enjoy the driving experience and get what rocks your boat… Sure Toyotas can last a very long time; however, most people switch cars within 5 years. No one grandpaing Toyotas to their graves like old folks used to.
I never under why people buy a bmw or dodge charger until I sat in one…
@persaud101 😂😂😂 Dodge? You're happy with a Dodge? Good luck! I'll waive at you when you're on the side of the road and zip past you in my Grand! You're better off being honest by saying Toyotas are too expensive than ugly!
Arm rest test is incredibly important.
What’s better than a rav4? A giant rav4!!😅
Old people friendly? I don’t want a mommie van.
Markup is 10% and there is a waitlist. I am tired with toyota and their dealerships.
54K for an inline 4? come on...
Dude didn’t even mention the trim
It's a Platinum! I have the Limited and his has a couple more things than mine!
3rd row looks cramped. Looks like Suburban for me 😕
I drive the standard Highlander and it’s such a big boat I can’t imagine what the Grand Highlander is like. 😂
I’m sure it’s a great car but it just doesn’t fit with Toyotas line up of attractive redesigns. It’s just so boring looking, paired with likely boring driving dynamics it’s just not enough to complete with the rest of the vehicles in the segment in my opinion
Agreed. I called that the grand Highlander was dead on entrance vs its rivals. No one listened yet here we are
check the sales figures in three months and come back to edit your comment.
@@anjansingh3093 it will still sell well everyone wants Toyota reliability but you gotta admit it looks like a pig next to the new Tacoma, sequoia, lander cruiser and the renderings we have seen of the 4Runner
I said the same thing, till I bought one! I get compliments when I go to the store and they wanna know what Toyota it is! Pics and vids make it look boring, but in person, its a beauty!!
4cyl for this size car? No thanks
Yay me I got a high five :)
Up top!!🖐️
I always suspected the rav4 deisgn was meant for the next gen highlander seeying how this is the next step from the third gen.
But it feels warned down now, is not special weve seen it for almost 5 years on the rav4 so by now we just see a blowned up version rav4. So yeah last i heard toyota doesnt include engine autostart from key fob, you have to pay for the app which is bullshit. Toyota has gotten weird with their content. Dont even get me started on the failure of space and layout that is the new sequoia.
Bland styling. I'd rather a three-row CRV.
Wow the crv ? Ahahaha
If you want stand out get a Dodge challenger hellcat… Honda and Toyota are not about standing out…
@@persaud101 The Chevy will never be as reliable as the Honda. And the CRV does look good.
@@justincredible1990 170k - 200000 miles 10 years is plenty of enough…
If your making decent money you ain’t taking with you. Driving a Honda crv for next 20 years is not living…
A lot people lease their dream cars… I am looking at it from a philosophical point of view with a fair reliability…
I don’t need maximum reliability. Sure that Toyota Camry you can drive to your grave for the next 20 years, but why ???
Another one. Not enough of them on the roads 💤
For the money, I'd get a Tesla Model X
Model X is way more expensive than this car.😂
@@blackwhirlwind1245 not that much difference. Model X is now under 80k - $7500 fed incentive - state incentives bring it down to close to 60k.
If you add the options for the grandhighlander hybrid platinum max, it could easily cost close to 70k and no incentive.
Tesla is now cheaper than many gas vehicles that have similar features, because of the Fed and state incentives for EV.
Snore.
Too expensive for ya huh? 😂😂😂 I LOVE mine! Enjoy your 14 year old Mercedes though!
Hey, this is a family review!! No PDA 🤣🤣
I’ll like your guys review except need to trim your beard😅body !!!!
Micah it’s not better than its competitors. Toyota failed badly at this and only made the telluride palisade pilot cx90 laugh and breathe a sigh of relief that this dated suv won’t be threatening any of its rivals anytime soon
They’re selling like crazy regardless lol
@@preoksaha4504 because people are desperate, Toyota has shortages and we live in crazy times with high interest rates
@@naveenthemachinesounds like youre the desperate one 😂
@@tinhinnh no if I was desperate I’d go telluride or palisade or pilot or cx90 in a heartbeat
Funny how the opinion of a UA-cam commenter seems to differ so much from a professional journalist who actually drove, tested and reviewed a product. Almost like one should be valued more than the other.
cheap looking car.. Palisade or telluride the best
