No it's not. There's an official american Nintendo saturday morning cartoon that's nothing like this, except for the bad humor. This game is it's own thing and animated by a russian studio and it tried to imitate the style of that saturday morning cartoon but made it worse.

It's a russian animation studio. They did animations for a few games, like IM Meen and some other PC CD-ROM titles (in addition to the Zelda-games on CDi). They had very little information to go on when they were hired to make these cutscenes so they were rushed.

In true Grumps fashion, Arin didn't notice Zelda's shield blocking the spears like in that other, better side-scrolling Zelda game, and the sword attack that destroys the spears.
It's baffling how even simple game mechanics are so hard to figure out for him. Most gamers I know almost routinely try every combination of buttons and make mental notes of every observable mechanic when they first play a game.
Arin instead assumes the shield is only for decoration, like Miltons. Do not eat, is very poisonous.

I don't usually watch Game Grumps, but when I do, I watch Wand of Gamelon and Faces of Evil in late 2020 to celebrate released fan remakes of the games that make them play far better.
Sure there was only three Zeldas by the time this came out. but holy shit... this is not anything like Zelda.

Zelda 2 was WAY more enjoyable than this one, mate. It had great controls, intuitive gameplay and the JRPG mechanics were integrated pretty well. Yeah, it was hard as balls, and it had a lot of cryptic bullshit, but that's part of the experience honestly. Zelda 2 still remains one of the best NES games.
This is one just sucks ass.

Majora's Mask is easily one of the best Zelda games ever. Most people seem to have forgotten about it but I'd argue it has probably one of the deepest, most original and interesting storylines of any Zelda game ever.

snow white was made in 1937, and was absolutely revolutionary animation at the time (still is gorgeous). lady and the tramp and sleeping beauty are both 50s--i believe '55 and '59(?) respectively--and showcase some beautiful work as well

The "artwork" for this game was done by an animation studio called Animation Magic. The company had 60 animators. SIXTY ANIMATORS. SIXTY PEOPLE agreed on THIS SHIT. I'm thinking each of them had a project quota of rendering 2 frames of animation and drawing, like, a tree in the background or coloring a single sprite. This is the kind of work you get for paying the worst animators in the world in popcorn chicken. Seriously though, These people are PAID pros who do this stuff for a living and this is what they offer. Their product is utter GARBAGE compared to mere doodles that freelance, untrained artists make for fun in their spare time. Professional talent my ass.

jekblom123 There are many reasons why this isn't their fault. One of which is a big one: Limitations on the console. They probably didn't have the full quality they wanted and had to make do. Some parts are better quality than others and such. There is also the time that this was made. It also depends on the art style they all settled on too. Some parts look better than others because it fits. Just....don't think everything that is terrible is just so because there was bad people involved
