Great video overall! I just thought the choices for Christina Aguilera were a little unfortunate on this one. If you picked her duet with Tony Bennett, that would have been in the “very good” category. And her “live with me” performance with Rolling Stones would have been in the “legendary” category.
In the bad performances, nerves play a role however it seems like the greatest obstacle is *ego* (& grand ones at that). Eg. In *Jennifer & Jessie J's* duet, you could tell that Jennifer had a chip on her shoulder. Jessie J was rather trying to build some chemistry but Jennifer felt like she was better. *Christina* tries to show out because she's aware that she's "The Voice of her generation" but at times less is really more. Interestingly, *Ariana & Demi* were noticeably nervous whilst performing with her. Probably because they look up to her. I've only seen a meme of *Jessica Simpson & Jewel's* performance with Jessica singing "I'm tryna bust". She has always wanted to be taken seriously as a vocalist & a great one at that but these vocal antics have not helped. *Jessie J & Luke James* were both doing the most, both trying to outsing each other. I thought they dated so it would be a more seamless performance. Then again, maybe they were playing with vocal battles for entertainment purposes during their relationship. *Chloe & Halle* usually go together like PB&J, however ever since she went solo, Chloe has been doing the most. If you compare their performances before which were seamless to their performances now, it really looks like she's trying to be the main attraction & low-key (not so low) outshine her sister. I think another thing that doesn't work in *Demi's* favour is musicality, or better yet, not having great musicality. That is what mostly affected her performance with Adam. *Adam* mostly sung it like the version he recorded for American Idol; I'm surprised he didn't get distracted & end up having bad intonation due to her being quite off. With more musicality, Demi would have nailed that performance. Musicality was in full force during *Mariah & John Legend's* performance. Such a lovely performance, they complemented each other so well. *Ariana* was so comfortable performing with *Miley* & it's understandable because they are essentially contemporaries & acquaintances thus Ariana didn't feel as nervous as she did when she performed with Christina plus Miley gives of a very chill vibe. With how much ego gets in the way especially when two vocalists who are quite known for their vocal skills get on the stage, I'm very impressed & pleasantly surprised by *Tori & Jojo,* plus *Morisette & Jessica Sanchez.* It's like they were rooting for each other while excelling. *Rose & Onew's* performance was adorable. The original is such a beautiful song; Colbie Caillat & Jason Mraz sang it so beautifully. It's truly one of the most romantic songs & so pure at the same time. With how Rose was pacing "They don't know how long it takes" & "Every time we say goodbye", I wasn't sure if it would land well, yet it did. The way you come up with these concepts is awe-inspiring! Please do a part 2 of this video plus maybe even one with group performances (many artists singing together). One that comes to mind is Leona, Stevie Wonder, Aaron Neville & Martina McBride. There were musical veterans on that stage yet surprisingly Leona saved it. Another one is Patti performing on the oprah show, I think it was "Imagine" & they shut off her mic towards the end yet you could still hear her 😅 "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" at the inauguration with Mariah, Beyonce, Shakira etc. & the legendary Divas Live with Aretha & Celine (plus Mariah, Gloria Estefan, Shania Twain & Carole King).
I agree, Demi is a super super talented vocalist and can do great things. Unfortunately, her musicality is her primary downfall. It stops her from doing as good in duets and it's the main reason she has a reputation for bad runs. Cuz she does have plenty good ones, but it's when she tries to make up something special that things go south, for the most part.
In terms of the Jennifer and Jessie J, I felt like one thing that was an issue was the mic. Jennifer was a hundred times louder than Jessie J, and so the only thing Jessie could do to get some time into there is a bunch of wild runs that were very out of place with Jennifer's booming voice. Overall, I think they naturally weren't the best combo to put together to sing
Also, side note, Jessie was way too loud and sharp. Her twangy / cutting voice just didn't fit the song especially nets to Luke's liquidy smooth texture. I don't think they'd sound good together on any song lol
@@Sloppyjoey1 I got that vibe as well & that's what made me say "Then again, maybe they were playing with vocal battles for entertainment purposes during their relationship." They were trying to outsing each other in a fun way. Ultimately it didn't work for the song. I agree, Jessie was quite loud & Luke James runs were out of place in certain parts. The failed whistle note from Jessie didn't help.
Christina needs to not sing with the young girls they get too nervous rightfully so. In her defense the Ariana duet came together in on day or so since it replaced the scrapped Whitney hologram performance
OMG ! Fall in Line was a MESS ! Duets between big singers always turn into sing-off battles, those singers try so hard to out-sing eachother that they end up ruining the song, which is ridiculous

With how much ego gets in the way especially when two vocalists who are quite known for their vocal skills get on the stage, I'm very impressed & pleasantly surprised by *Tori & Jojo,* plus *Morisette & Jessica Sanchez.*
It's like they were rooting for each other while excelling.
Another one is Patti performing on the oprah show, I think it was "Imagine" & they shut off her mic towards the end yet you could still hear her 😅
"Signed, Sealed, Delivered" at the inauguration with Mariah, Beyonce, Shakira etc.
I
Also, side note, Jessie was way too loud and sharp. Her twangy / cutting voice just didn't fit the song especially nets to Luke's liquidy smooth texture. I don't think they'd sound good together on any song lol
@@Sloppyjoey1 I got that vibe as well & that's what made me say "Then again, maybe they were playing with vocal battles for entertainment purposes during their relationship."
They were trying to outsing each other in a fun way.
Ultimately it didn't work for the song.
I agree, Jessie was quite loud & Luke James runs were out of place in certain parts. The failed whistle note from Jessie didn't help.
I NEED A PART 2, PLEASE!
Tori Kelly and Jojo's duet is iconic!! Two of the best singers of their generation!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
They know how to use their instruments really well.
'Body and Sou'l by Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse is a masterpiece
Christina needs to not sing with the young girls they get too nervous rightfully so. In her defense the Ariana duet came together in on day or so since it replaced the scrapped Whitney hologram performance
I feel like Christina doesn't want to share the spotlight with anyone, she doesn't do well in duets 🤷🏻♀️
You check out Jennifer Hudson and George Huff duet of I'll Be There. Its very beautiful 👏🏾
LMFAOOO the thumbnail
Demi was nervous and also sick during the duet with Christina.
OMG ! Fall in Line was a MESS !
Duets between big singers always turn into sing-off battles, those singers try so hard to out-sing eachother that they end up ruining the song, which is ridiculous
If you ever get a chance check out Hyolyn and Ailee 'Let it go' performance if you haven't already. I really love it.
Mariah and Luther?
but I Love fall in line so much!!!!
Mimi and John Legend - magical! 👍👍
I loove the 'Don't Talk Me Down' duet!! And part 2 please!!! Keke Palmer and Tori Kelly's 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)?
I was expecting the legendary duet between Mariah and Whitney with"When You Believe". Oh, well! 😮💨 Oh, and also, Luther and Mariah's "Endless Love"!
EDIT: OH! AND BRIAN AND MARIAH'S "WHENEVER YOU CALL" TOO! Although, I prefer her solo version, though. Nevertheless, it was still a great duet.
Opening the video with Miley Cyrus I KNOW THATS RIGHT
Where's Faouzia and John Legend duet ?
