    The D810 for me. It's the first camera I made money with. I loved using it for portraits for work and landscapes for fun. I have a Z7 and a Z6II, but I recently repurchased the D810 because I missed it so much. Now, I mostly use it for travel and family time.

    • @tourinojacks5844

      How would you compare the major differences of the Z6ii based on your real life usage versus the d810?
      I asked because I have to make my decision today whether to buy a z6 (original not the ii version), d750, or d810 for event photography as my fun 3rd camera body. Will use it only to use a 14-24mm f/2.8 in low light conditions..
      Your thoughts?

    I am owning the D750. In comparison with D810, D750 has the same CPU and a 24m pixel sensor. Therefore, D750 is much faster than D810. Plus the articulated screen, the built in flash and lighter weight, D750 is better for me.

    Hi Martin.
    Firstly, a big yes to the new background. Nice tones and perspective behind you.
    The range of interchangeable eyepieces for the D810 against the U1/ U2 of the D750 gets my attention, those small details, huh. Another one of your insightful overviews based on actual knowledge 🎯🎯🎯

    Fantastic ending of the video! I have a D610 and upgraded to a D810 a year ago. I'm in love with it, although i had to buy also a new computer to properly edit the raw files. This is something that for me is also to be in mind when change the sensor dimension.

    Love this comparison! You have addressed my # 1 concern as an Event Photography shooter. So for me personally, the d750 is the best choice for my style of shooting.
    Although at this time, the d810 is cheaper for me to purchase it used, however, based on your review of real Life usage, you have made my decision so much easier and crystal clear.
    Thank you very much. I have liked and subbed! 💪📷💯

    Speaking of large cameras, do you have any experience/thoughts on the Canon 1DX (M1). Its a consideration of mine now. I've been in the Canon system since the 5D M ll. I retired in 2015 and moved to the Philippines. To say its wet here is an understatement.

    I've owned both cameras over the years, the D810 until very recently but it has now moved on to another owner. The D750 was my main camera for many a year until I moved to Mirrorless when the Z7 was launched, it served me very well, the D810 was bought for a nostalgia trip a year or so back and was used with the Nikkor F mount glass that I had retained, it was an awesome camera but in the long term it gave me no more than the Z7 did so ultimately I decided to move it on.
    For me the D750 was the better all round camera, a bit smaller and lighter yet still produced great images no matter what the subject was. The D810 whilst it had a bit more image sparkle it wasn't quite as adaptable as the D750 in some areas. I have a soft spot for Nikon's DSLR cameras, I have enjoyed using them and created many a great memory.
    Nice video.

    Thanks for the great video! I'm working a bit backwards, after shooting MFT for over a decade I decided to get the Lumix S5II and sell most of my MFT gear to go L-Mount. I love the camera BUT, I shoot a lot of publicity for live theatre. Last week I was shooting a dress rehearsal and just constantly swapping between my 24-70 and my 70-200 (not fun in the dark). I decided I either need another S5II ($$$) or a superzoom. L-Mount is pretty much devoid of that lens right now and it got me to thinking. You know, you've never tried Nikon and you never had a full-frame DSLR, why not get something older? This video helped me go with the 810. The S5 has everything I need for portability so, go big, right? Starting with the 28-300 and will probably branch out from there and decide if the 810 will be wide or tele first paired with the S5II. Pretty sure a 135/2 has my name on it though even though I already have the Sigma 135/1.8 Art in L-Mount. Maybe I'll have a shoot-out. Thanks for the great videos Martin.

    I just traded some older Nikon and Fuji gear for a like new D750. Put a fair chunk of change back into the bank account too! I chose this camera for the tilt screen as I am now a senior and not quite as agile as I use to be. That screen helps me get the lower shots without getting on my knees. And yeah the grip on the D750 is maybe the best feeling grip I have used.

    The D810 whilst it feels solid in your hands it has a metal bayonette which is attached to a plastic mirror box. There are quite a lot on ebay being sold for parts due to the plastic interface to the bayonette breaking off. This can happen if the camera is dropped or handled roughly in a bag etc. with a long lens attached. The D800/800e have a metal mirror box and are therefore more robust. However more plastic = less weight. A point about size: perhaps people with smaller hands will like the D750/D600/D610 cameras more? Still way better ergonomics on all of these than the Sony a7 series.

      If the D750 had a 5:4 aspect ratio, which it should have, I would be more interested in it. It’s bloody annoying that Nikon deliberately disable some of their FX cameras with this omission. That and the loss of a round eyepiece. If the camera is FX it should have both of these features as standard.
      The D780 is a big disappointment while the D850 is great but heavy. I might still get one though. 😊

    I use a Nikon D810 for landscape mostly. I don't really complain much about the weight, nor the size of the camera itself. My biggest complaint about it would be the lack of a tilting screen for added versatility. I was thinking about buying an outside monitor to help me with that, even though that will up for even more gear (Tripod, camera, lens, remote cabled shutter, outside monitor and square lens kit).
    Anyways, thank you so much for your input, it was quite useful for me!

    • @MartinCastein
      @MartinCastein  8 місяців тому +1

      @Stop-All-War 6 місяців тому +1

      Agreed, tilt screen is useful for low standing shots when kneeling & cameras high above. Good too for avoiding reflections outdoors.
      D810 is magnificent, I'd like a 2nd body, instead of my D600, but will keep the D600 - using with lightweight, small afd lenses. Sigma art on D810 is very bulky, not always helpful.

    I like the final verdict, as for the D 810 developed and tweaked for the astro photographers, great for all else mentioned. As for the lack of a tilt screen, just one less thing that can fail.
    The D750 is basically the bigger version of the D 7200 with a bit of more advanced technology being a later model. The D 750 excels at autofocus capability with the tilt screen as a "bonus". I would be happy with either, but the D 750 is going pair well with my D 7200. So with the D 7200 and the D 750 in hand, I can guarantee you that I would still want a D 810.
    There is a problematic issue. Getting these things repaired in future, if not currently, is going to be a problem. The advancements with production lines has stopped for these models and the production lines are all dedicated towards the new products. So I decided that I am not going to entertain these " advancements " by investing in it, or jumping ship to say Sony, no.
    If I need something I'll just go and rent/hire it. The gear I have is bought and paid for, so that remains. One cannot invest in the new systems at this point of time. Financially it just does not justify the investment in a continues evolving electronic device that still presents it's old electronic faults/ problems. Failing cards, hard drives, software and os systems.

    • @MartinCastein
      @MartinCastein  8 місяців тому

      this is the problem, i think you can still get these cameras repaired though in general for a while yet, a lot of independent repair shops will do it for some time i expect but we will see. The new gear only makes sense if you are making money from it or can afford it easily.

    Good rundown on the two cameras. I'm considering upgrading my dx body to the D810 for landscapes, probably with the 24-85 or 24-120 and 70-300 af-p - You can get the camera and both lenses for about the same price as a used Z7 body.

    • @MartinCastein

    Also the live view focus is horrible.
    I've been tempted to go to a D780, maybe when prices drop a bit more, but, yesterday I played with a ZF and I think it's a game changer.

The d750 is amazing outdoor and Indoors with flash portrait camera and amazing for candids because if you set the Af to continuous it WILL NOT FAIL YOU. the d810 has great image quality with no low pass filter which is amazing but I would say it’s better for just portrait commercial product and landscape. D750 is a workhorse and defines the term. One more thing all the AF points are sharp. I still do all my jobs with the d750 but not d810 I use the canon R5 instead.

      d810 is no match. D780 is two cameras in one. All the advantages of dslr with mirrorless. High iso much better than 810. Quicker autofocus.

    D750 can nearly see in the dark and is ISO invariant. However, it’s blues and greens in RAW are awful and I fought it every time I had to edit a photo. I traded it for a Fuji X-T1 and didn’t look back. I just can’t see myself spending so much time adjusting colors because they’re reproduced incorrectly by the camera and with a look that is not desirable.

    It don’t matter to me because in the Navy I used all types of film cameras and therefore picking up a camera it don’t matter what itis as it’s only a tool it’s your eyes that is important.

    At 5:25 you mention the D810's 36 MP sensor is bigger than D750's 24 MP sensor. I think that's not technically correct. I think D810's 36 MP sensor just has more resolution when compared with the D750. Both have the same 36mm x 24mm full frame sensor in them.

      Hi that’s the image size of the picture produced by the sensor I’m showing as the picture you get are larger, this shows a 24mp vs 36mp on top of each other to show much larger the files are on the d810. Sensors are the same physical size yes, but the files aren’t.

    All that and at the end he gives it away. D750 the winner. “But that tilt screen….😂 We’ll winner for landscape at least but I think it’s not too shabby for portraits.
