    Good thing Subaru Crosstrek engineers are smart enough to put the oil filter accessibly. 👍

      I’ve done it on the ground in a forester, looks like there’s enough room to do it on the ground as long as you don’t have a big belly

    Good video. Please consider using a Genuine Black Subaru Oil filter or at worst the blue one. You spent so much money on a nice car. Why have a cheap generic and potentially cause issues for a couple of cents saving.
    The generics often times don’t filter as well or have bypass valves that open at the wrong pressures.

    Was that a special kind of wash liquid or just water?

    Does this car use a crush washer on the drain plug, and if so, do we need to replace it?

      @@AutomotiveDysfunction My 2020 Crosstrek definitely has a crush washer. Sometimes it gets kindof stuck to the drain bolt. But it's there if you look closely. It's required to replace it each time for my 2020!

      Many of the modern drain plugs have the washer built into the inside of the plug, it’ll look like a spongy black skirt around the threads

    THE BIG ADVANTAGE IN USING FULL SYNTHETIC OIL IS THAT IT LAST 15K TO 20K MILES. WHY THEN ARE YOU SAYING TO CHANGE OIL EVERY 3K TO 5K MILES. JIFFY LUBE GOT SUED FOR THAT LITTLE "TRICK".....

    • @AutomotiveDysfunction
      @AutomotiveDysfunction  2 роки тому +6

      Yea you Go ahead do that… on my personal cars I use full synthetic and I change every 5 000 miles .. I don’t know any mechanics that will change every 15-20 k … I would go every 3000 mil on conventional oil, 4000 mil on high mil max and 5000 on full synthetic

    While I appreciate the compete listing of parts and the video of how, when, and where, I did not care for how it was done. He should have drained the oil first and then let it drip for a few minutes. I would have wiped the bottom and clean it with a clean rag to remove any grit he was picking up surrounding the drain hole. I would have used a new crush ring to ensure a fit sealed fit. To be honest, this was just not the way to handle, in my opinion. Too sloppy and dirty and I would have been upset if I saw a video of this guy changing my oil and filter.
    On the other hand, He gets however many stars you feel were due.
