Grime ambassador Dizzee Rascal recalled the inspirations that went into his debut album Boy In Da Corner and the lessons learnt along the way in this public conversation as part of the 2016 Red Bull Music Academy UK Tour.
When Dylan Mills released his debut album as Dizzee Rascal in 2003 he put London's newest sound, grime, on the global map. Fashioned from his experiences as an amateur pirate radio DJ and MC as well as his fascination with Three 6 Mafia, drum & bass and heavy metal, Boy in da Corner captured the raw energy and determination of a teenager who had found salvation in music.

please sort out the audio levels... my tv shouldn't be on volume level 86
I think people forget that his second album was grime as well. Not just his first album. But his first album is an original classic nevertheless.
second is so underrated
Second is 🔥
@@jjeffries8831 true bro. It was fire. And the beats on there were mad. Even now they sound sick.
Met up with Dizzee 3 weeks back, What a man fr -respect
Pretty Solid interview that surprisingly went into more depth than I thought it would. Being from Los Angeles & Fellow Nigerian Dizzee was the First UK Artist I can recall Hearing back in 2006. Happy for the Longevity & Progression He has made in his Career. Definitely my Favorite Artist from the United Kingdom
Boy in the corner is a classic.
His first award was best newcomer MC at Sidewinder Awards 2002. 👌🏻👌🏻
music 2000 for ps1 man what a blast
Dope. Shit stays real.
certified legend
That night in Stratford was so sick, and big up Dizzee for mentioning people like Wookie. From 'car crash music' to today's chart music. Mental.
Love this, just crack on with the art regardless of all the other bullshit of life / fame. Salute to Dizzee. Ahead of his time.
Thumbs up of you went to Redbridge College, Barley Lane
Joker Joker lol
Great interview, great questions and delivery, Dizzee Rascal, an absolute legend
dizzee is a legend
42:29 parred on a madting
Tariq Amazin yeah I felt bad for him hahaha but that's real though, sometimes it's like that
I'm 29
I grew up listening to Dizzee
I enjoyed his music, but this interview has changed my opinion of him
damn
in what way
he was doing grime before his first album, both him and wiley.
People get it confused "The new Dizzee Rascal" There will never be another Dizzee Rascal!! gosh
I wanted to hear what his rhythm influences were. I'm a rocker but his lines are so rhythmically tight while the bass lines are often loose.
Its not the best, but you get Dizzie in the right zone, you can get a great interview......................
Dizzy is the king of the UK. Pussyole (old school) is easily of of my favorite rap songs
What jacket has dizzee got on?
An achievement..like Craig David.
Jay Prince?
dizzie is decent if you don't move bookie towards him, I met him in the electric
is the interviewer d double's brother?!
He's not aware of how talented and influential he is. Its a shame.
toybot123 he’s humble...it’s what it is
Is that the jls guy interviewing dizze
Nah man it's Viz search ace and Viz they were Chanel u host bizack in the days
Wonder if the interviewer will say "Boy in da corner" again?
These questions were lazy AF. Pretty sure I've heard each one of them in some other interview.
And Dizzee doesn't want to talk about Boy in da Corner for the rest of his life!! That must be so aggravating.
Interviewers: Put some effort into your questions! Please!
And it's mad disrespectful to say directly to Dizzee: I want you to do THIS-rather than what you've been doing.
I get that Dizzee's work after Boy in da Corner hasn't been too hot, but goddamn!!
It was WHEN he performed boy in da corner in its completion at Redbull academy so ofcourse they will talk about that album
audio is all wrong.
reached 22.34 and qn are still about Boy In Da Corner? Am also interested in after the classic....dont get stuck in past.....follow the flow fast forward please......Dizzie has incredible behind the scene stories for dayz, he hints on never-heard before & mad stories but you dont bounce back on it, stuck with your script.....shame #talent
This crowd is dead
'you was' haha - Does anyone speak properly any more?
not if youre black
Or if you struggle to use apostrophes.
nothing to do with being black you idiot. plenty of white people from essex who talk like that
Guinness You forgot a period at the end of your sentence.
He comes across very cocky and arrogant
I see him as humble i think he is just is wary of alot of things almost like he feels like he has hate and it plays on his mind.
Jubblyville its called confidence
