I still say it makes more sense to build new with new proper columns and beams than refurbish that building especially if you intend to have your normal farang coming to stay.
If we had a bigger budget yes, but we are super limited in this one 👍

A true outhouse bathroom there! On flooding, it always gets worse, so don’t waste money on the slab, just do a raised floor, enough to use for storage etc… and build the living quarters upstairs, will definitely be cheaper and more sanitary in the long run!

The Nazis symbol is the opposite hand to the Buddhist symbol. (Like left hand right hand)
In the First world war some of the early planes would fly that symbol, for good luck or peace.
that's my recollection of the symbol from an air show I went to about 10 years ago in Wanaka, New Zealand
Some of the very early (1900 era) planes there had this symbol on their planes.

I learned this by watching another Thailand youtuber, can't remember whom. The word swastika is derived from the old sanskrit language. I believe sanskrit is from India. He or she said the Thai language has a similar word and it makes sense when you say both words slowly. You can see the relationship and how over time, because languages are living and change, say swa-sti-ka compared to the Thai sa-wah-de-ka. So every time you hear the greeting of sa-wah-de-ka or kap, there is an old relationship back to the swastika symbol and all of this tied through the buddhist religion. Interesting, at least to me. See, you can learn something by watching youtube. What's the Thai word for buffalo poop? lol
A pond is a nice idea. But, if you plan ornamental fish such as Koi, not such a good idea to have questionable dirty water ,silt etc. running into it. (advice of pond builders) Probably fine if it's only for flood water with some mosquito eaters in it.
Great explanation of the Thai swastika hitler misunderstanding. I have seen other videos making fun of Thais for not understanding this or even calling them stupid for not knowing much about WW2. You gave a good explanation for why the often missuse Hitler or swassticker images in popart.

Yes Ryan misinterpretation of the Swastika in Thailand. My friend came down one morning in the apartment building we rent in Thailand. The landlady was wearing a t-shirt with a Swastika on it. He asked why she was wearing it. " fashion" He explained it is not good for attracting farangs to your building. The second time I was riding my motorcycle in another part of Thailand and a man riding a motorcycle Salang had a big Swastika flying. I got ahead of him to get a picture as he road by. He just waved hello as he went by. I to found out it meant footprints of Buddha.

Yes, Che Guevara was a popular icon in Thailand, and I’m pretty sure almost nobody knows who he is. My brother in law is a Buddhist who wears a cross because it is cool. He knows next to nothing about Christianity.
Great clean up time lapse vlog there Ryan! You realize raising the floor will affect doorways and doors..guess you can have those custom made/cut to size reasonably.
