HAPPY THANKSGIVING @DerrckWith2Rs 🦃. Keep preaching! I learned the evil buildup of fabric softener when I took the top of the agitator off 15 years ago to change out the dog ears. Mine was moist gunk. I have gone through 4 electronic washers in the time that my mechanical washer still works perfectly from 1989. I am going to continue to use it.
Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!!!! And that’s so awesome!! I’m doing a few videos this month comparing brand new units to older 80s and 90s machines!!! It’s gonna be kinda cool 😁😁😁 Have a blessed day!!!
Yeah they sure don’t build them like they used to. Same with freezers, my Grandma had a freezer from the early ‘50’s - it outlasted every other freezer (she had up to 3 running at a time depending on when all us Grandkids lived nearby) until she sold her house in 2016. As far as I know it’s still running at the neighbour that took it for $50 (which was probably more than Grandpa originally paid for it 😂)
I have never used fabric softener and never understood why people use it. My clothes always come out of the wash perfectly fine. I even mix my colors and whites and my whites stay perfectly fine.
Same. Cold wash. (Long cycle for dirtier loads.) Persil Free & Sensitive concentrated. Extra rinse. No fabric softener. Dryer low heat, if you can spare the time. Lower energy consumption, and significantly gentler on the clothes.
Even worse, it literally comes in wax form and melts on to your clothes in a thin enough layer you don’t notice. They’re just a more concentrated form of fabric softener. So 2x the troubles.
I'm with you. I cleaned out the machine after it came with the home. The home used to be a rental and I could tell they loved their fabric softener. I replaced the guides and springs, took it completely apart to scrape, clean and regrease the bearings, and though it's an ugly color, it cleans clothes like it's brand new now. I'm keeping it until that main bearing gives out since that's damn near the same price as a new one.
Using the correct amount of fabric softener for the type of detergent used is the biggest problem. I used to maintain commercial laundry equipment and people would occasionally use dish detergent to wash their clothes. Softener is actually made to knock down residual detergent, but then we get into "race conditions" where people used so much soap because they insisted that their laundry wasn't getting clean if the tub wasn't full of foam (because they were using HE detergent that we all know doesn't suds up as much as the old stuff) and then pour half a bottle of dollar store softener in the rinse because their clothes came out itchy and soapy. If only we could get people to read instructions for their machines and consumables. . . What a pipe dream. FYI for everyone else reading; use enough detergent per load such that it BARELY starts to foam. Extra suds are wasted soap. Use 2/3 the recommended amount of softener based on load size (10lbs of dry laundry is considered one load), and load your washer DRY. DO NOT be tempted into adding more clothes after the water fills because there's "more room", your washer needs that room to efficiently slosh the clothes around without stressing the motor and transmission.
Stopped using fabric softener a couple months ago after I saw you saying how bad it is. Started using vinegar with a couple drops of essential oils and it works just as good and costs a fraction of the price.

Directly on the agitator it says water down fabric softener my sister said that and just put fabric softener directly in it she's 25
I hate the smell of fabric softener. It smells like you are covering up nasty. There usually is a hint of odor that makes it smell worse than odor. If it's strong it gives me a migraine.
Same! One of my all-time pet peeves is walking outside to enjoy the fresh air and smelling someone drying their laundry. IT REEKS. My mom uses so much that where she was sitting on my couch still smells like fabric softener a week later.
Bro get a 5 in 1 Painters tool!
Question does this also apply to the scent beads?
No. We use fabric softener as an anti static.
I started using baking soda in my wash. Hopefully it's not doing some shit.
My fabric softener is a regular yellow tennis ball or 2 in the dryer. They last forever, are machine washable and speed up the drying just a little bit.
I like how he does this in country accent
I do use little amounts of fabric softener, but do a cleaning cycle everytime the washer reccommends it. Am i still safe? Front load samsung btw
Looks like someone needs a water softener.
I personally don't like liquid fabric softner. I like my clothes getting rinsed throughly.
We use Gain detergent because it smells so good. Is this detergent okay? We don't use fabric softener except for Bounce dryer sheets in the dryer. We have a Maytag SAV4655EWQ.
Derrick, are fabric softeners and fabric conditioners the same?
i don't. Just some laundry detergent, and i use nothing at all in the dryer.
This guy is awesome! Like it when you tell people nicely how stupid they are. Keep going brother!
Then give us an alternative for the smell good stuff. It just works too good to not use, clothes can sit in the drawer for 6 months and still smell insanely good.
Just keep using it and every 5 years buy a new washer no.big deal
@@alexstoles1339 I mean I've been using the stuff really heavy for about 15 years with my washer and I don't have any issues. I'm not saying it's not obviously bad for it, I just think the pros outweigh the cons unless there's a better alternative.
@@shalashaska9946 oh yea if u havent had any problems in 15 years i would change anything.
I use it every now n then, just to stop static.
Use dryer sheets?
So what do you use for static cling?
Adam friedland sent me here
For the fish??? Why would there be fish in my washing machine??? I use a septic tank, but everything else is true.
The aluminum between the basket and the motor shredded
Maybe the basket in the belt not the motor
What about the smell good pellets? 😊
Thank you for the know how to care for those expensive machines!!
I've rarely had the $ to spend on it. Guessing that's been a good thing. 😁
When I gas or oil or pre-mix or mixed gas why does it have to be diesel fuel
