You'll almost never know where the shots come from if you're reacting unless it's a surprise 1 on 1. You gotta know where they *might* be before you're there. I started playing yesterday and I've noticed that the Automatic Rifleman is so good at suppressing enemies that are trying to ambush your squad. A good thing to remember is; if you're taking fire, you've already lost the engagement, try and reposition to where they don't already know you are and flank, or get cover fire to move 🤙
This is somewhat correct. Yes, some squads need to flank. However, some squads need go attack the front. This will create a front with the enemy team while your teammates flank. If everyone flanks, then that side is now the front.
The problem is some squads need to attack the front. If everyone happens to flank what happens in some games, they will adjust their line. That is the problem with the game. You should not define a good player by how much he dies although it can be a good indication of general skill. People also get steamrolled in games so it does not matter how skilled you are. Its a game played as a collective, the guy is wrong with calling it a verry hardcore individual shooter. Only in city maps you can have more of a influence as a individual, most maps are open so you are verry limited. Short analogy of the game.
This. For Gods sake. Seen so many lemming trains, straight into a fixed position of heavy mgs. Meanwhile only my squad is flanking, no matter what you say they refuse to listen. So i end up respawning and watching us lose ground over the course of the battle.
doesnt matter how good you are when 75-80% of the player base on your team refuses to build garrisons, drop supplies, and build nodes to help the whole team. And that's a crucial part of the game. this game isnt a run and gun call of duty style game which the 75-80% think it is.
To be fair though the game doesn't tell you about them or what they do and you'll just find out when some experienced squad lead chews your ass for not building them
Yeah one thing this game could *sorely* benefit from and *needs* is a tutorial rather than just some half-assed pop ups. Trying to read that shit when you’re in an intense situation is such a ridiculous expectation for a blueberry who literally just dropped into their first game. I guess the point is for your fellow players to teach how things go to a finer extent, which is fine, except I find that 75% of the time nobody has time for that shit when arty is raining down and they need that garry/node/at gun/etc up NOW not 30 seconds from now. As a relatively new player with ~70 hours I’ve had genuinely helpful and understanding people, and then I’ve had the opposite. Although interestingly I find that armor and recon units tend to have more easy going teachers rather than the infantry units which I find intriguing. Regardless, this game *needs* a tutorial system. Squad has one, and while it does just bombard you with information at least you have some semblance of an idea of what’s going on after you go through it rather than HLLs method of “Here’s a rifle, figure it out yourself.”
@@pewpewplasma3793 I turned them off in my first 2 hours... i just thought "fuck it i'll figure it out somehow", the tips were messing with my concentration lol
I was looking to play something while 2042 gets fixed till summer, if ever. Bought this game and instantly fell in love with the experience it offers. Every death teaches me something. I dont feel frustrated from getting rekt. Amazing!
I just got the game yesterday and had no clue on how to play, kept on finding myself eating bullets. This video has given great advice for new players like me
Fundamentals start with getting that it's a team effort. Stress placing garrisons if no one is keeping up with them. Nodes are second if you have a commander & need air support of any kind. Then it's play slow, smart & flank.
The beginning tips about stopping and scanning seems like such an obvious thing, but you would be surprised at how you, as a gamer, can forget that tip. Especially if you play other FPS games that are fast paced. Taking your time, slowing it down, using your eyes and cover - its a must. I forget from time to time because I'm just wanting to rush in (despite the games can go on for 1hr30m, not need to rush at all times). Whether because I'm frustrated or I been getting a lot of kills. I find myself coming back to this video fairly often before I start playing for the day, just to remind me of the tips to be successful. And it always works. This is by far the best video for new and vet gamers to watch. Good shit Brit, we appreciate
lol I always seem to just beeline to the objective/position subconsciously. This video has been very helpful, and I have learnt a lot from your content. Keep making quality and informative videos!
I picked this game up a few days ago, man I'm hooked. I average maybe 5 - 15 kills a game, though I've finally learned that simply shooting enemies isn't going to get you the win. Flanking, Partisan activity and Garrison positions are an absolute necessity. So far Medic and Engineer are my favourite roles.
My favourite thing is that most of the weapons systems used have large rounds and so for the most part, a round to the torso generally does the trick, the BAR is so far my favourite, because who doesn't want a rifle that can basically act as a sniper OR a full auto weapon with big boi rounds
Pretty good advice the rule of "Stop; Look and Listen" has been drilled into infantry for generations. One other tip I can give that Is that you should stand off from a window by 1-2 feet and not stick your muzzle out of it, the amount of people I have seen that blow their position by sticking their gun out the window is staggering. Unless its a MG that needs to be on a bipod then you should really give yourself an extra foot of space not only will you not announce your position to anyone looking down the road but you will add additional concealment by being in the darker shadows of the unlit room.
the maneuvering is similar to Tarkov, so if you play that game you'll be fine playing this game. Just communicate your intentions with your squad mates often if they have mics and are willing and open.
I just started playing this game on a laptop that just met minimum specs requirements and it’s my first pc game, wish I had an actual pc and a gaming mouse and keyboard and a monitor instead of a lower graphic tv. Love the game, hate learning to play both the game and pc while dealing with low end equipment like Sony Bluetooth headphones to hear and a Blue snowball mike without it’s tripod to relay only important info.
@Thetacticalbrit Thank you for this video. Coming into HLL and Post Scriptum from Battlefield has been a huge adjustment. Especially as you mentioned, sprinting and bounding. Most of my deaths I can look back on and easily point out I was just spawning and running to get to the front lines. It's time to take it low and slow!
I Average about 17-20 Kills a game with 1 or 2 deaths. (As a rifleman), and this video just put in to words what I was thinking, my 2 cents, treat the game like reality, don't play in like Cod, battlefield, etc. Play it how you would actually act/move/shoot in real life. (I am always 100-200m away from objective) I take my time with shots, only shoot when I know it's going to hit, (accuracy is +- 60%), I move slow, cover to cover, wait for teammates to cross fields/open areas first to see if they get shot at to know if it is safe. again, I am playing it like me in a war scenario, and not as a gamer. again just my 2 cents.
Only drawback with crouch running is if you head straight towards someone. You give them a better chance of hitting your head initially due to your stance.
I’ve always been aware of it, but combat readiness is something I suck at. I main medic, and I always rush to revive/bandage with morphine out rather than my rifle, and that’s what gets me killed every time. I cannot stress enough how important combat readiness is
Why things are seen, the 7 S’s 1) shape 2) shine 3) silhouette 4) sound 5) signature (thermal/nvg) 6) sudden movement 7) shadow Avoid them for yourself, and watch out for them for others

i only partly agree to this point due to the fact that building up garrisons is the key to victory. u cant just sit around and check the area if u ignore command orders and dont move to get garrisons up ull loose

@@obadiahplainman8897 that's really a you thing and might happen if you have slow internet/use wifi or live in an area that doesn't have nearby sever locations
In my experience sprinting is *not* what gets me killed most of the time in HLL - it is being prone in what I think is cover (vegetation) and getting picked off by someone I didn't even know was there, following closely by tanks or artillery explosions. In more arcadey games like Battlefield then yes, sprinting is a good way to get killed because you can't react quickly enough when you run into an enemy, but the situations in HLL where you run into an enemy and it comes down to being able to get the shot off first are few and far between.
4:55 I couldn’t of said it better I’m new to the game and I consider myself to be decent at most shooters I play and I hopped on this yesterday and everything I’ve played or learned in previous shooters went out the window I died a lot to people hiding in a bush and me not being able to get my gun in the fight right away, that and mortars…gotta love those mortars 🤣
Standing still makes it really hard for players to see you. Brush and foliage can be used to hide your silhouette. If you hold an angle try not to move. If you are peeking try to do so in short bits ie peek and keep still for .5 seconds to give your eyes time to find silhouettes or movement than hide behind cover. You can also peek and strafe which might draw attention but than quickly duck down. There are many different ways to peek and use them to your advantage. Dont be afraid to hip fire in close range. Most guns are pretty accurate being hipfired and close engagment typically means first person to shoot wins. Also if you get shot you typically can prone right away and they'll think you're down. Learn how to use map to predict where enemies are likely to be, where safe areas are and where flanks will likely come from. Typically other players will form 'walls' or lines facing towards enemy locations. If players push to far into a flank its likely the enemy is flanking around a different way. Also flanks are 400 meters typically.
By no means am I good at this game, but I usually try go machine gunner, spraying down on the position of your enemies will maybe get you a kill, but guess what, you'll never know, that's what I love about this game, its realism is on another level. I also love to use this tactic to suppress the enemy position as best as I can to allow my team to push forward. If you're machine gunner then do this, dont just run around expecting to run and gun, set yourself up and suppress your enemy.
I was unsure of this game, then i ran into an enemy strong point from behind , took out an mg crew and about 8 infantry , then listened to my whole team scream happily in game chat while they stormed the objective . I was sold after that
Very good video! I am brand new to HLL and suck.....so bad at it. LOL, but I am having a blast. I will not lie, it is so frustrating dying over and over and never even seeing an enemy. I will try your suggestions you made here. :) Thank you.
My main problem with this game is that flanks take forever to complete and still some random dude can kill you with no warning. And if you stick to your squad they WILL give away your position by firing at everything.... :-(
Damn i do literally everything you say in this video but im either getting killed by some rifleman whose in a random bush or mowed down by an MG whose in a random bush or somehow just always right where the enemy artilery is even when im fully separated from every single individual on my team
The first tip everyone learns on day one is never run in an open field. Save yourself the long walk of shame by walking the hedge lines. Great inspiration for new content ideas 💡
The main issue for me is just getting into a good area with enemies and stuff. I can usually hit my shots and hold my own in combat but I never actually get to fight because half the time I'm just getting killed by people I can't see from god knows how far away
Possibly be buying this in the next few days. Not played many fps pc games, mainly H&G and Verdun. And only been pc gaming for just over a year. I did join a battle during the last free weekend they held, but I was all over the shop, didn't know my ar*e from my elbow, and ended up just quitting after about 10-15 mins.... So I'd just like to say while I'm here, if by chance I end up on anybody in here's team in the near future, I sincerely, sincerely, apologise.
I always see people running to the front lines but the biggest mistake is the front is all around you and enemy's are really just waiting for you to make the first move.
First time playing this and being a German farmer boy just trying to make it as a rifleman stationed in Sainte-Mère-Église.. There were Tommys in every... single... hedge.. *Vietnam flashbacks*
I played about 6 matches till now after buying the game this morning. I am just now starting to understand just wtf I’m supposed to do and how to use the map and classes.
Good video, I will saybi have 1 disagreement. Crouch running might make you smaller but also slower. So I only use it when it provides a real cover advantage, like next to a wall or hill. Otherwise I'm running or sprinting.
Think before you fire. Only fire when a proper opportunity presents itself, no sense in revealing your position (or worse your squad's) for a slim chance at a hit
I love how there is no cue that you've hit an enemy. I've never played any games with mil sim elements and its so immersive not having those hit markers and little noises go of or any confirmation you've hit other than your own vision
It's a very frustrating game for the first while. You'll want to quit. You'll be tired of running forever only to get headshot by an unseen enemy. I know, that was me, too. Stick with it. Watch a lot of HLL videos, they help. Now, it's easily one of the funnest games I've ever played and I look forward to it like no other game.
honestly nothing in this video helps even remotely.. i do it all and still get one shot killed by an unseen enemy from an unknown position. crouched motionless in the tree line leaning? instantly dead. carefully peeking a window on top floor of building? instantly dead. bounding from one cover position to the next? instantly dead. that segment where you were on the broken staircase in that house, i would have been shot and killed 12 times over if i was moving back and forth shooting at bushes 250m away like that.
I've been playing in pavlov VR and all of these weapons seem so chill in comparison. The Thomson doesn't have much recoil and has much better iron sights than in pavlov and the mp 40 has very high recoil that it takes a learning curve to get. My very first life in the game I got 3 kills with the ppsh. I've noticed though it's teamwork and communication that leads to a lot of deaths of done wrong. Sometimes i am set up with a squad in a defensive position and watch tbe score rise, other time we are being pushed hard or pushing and spawn points are in a bad location or to far away to get Into a good position.

@@53Strat bang on.

Very similar to real life combat tactics. It feels really good to have one squad lift fire while another sweeps.
My favourite thing is that most of the weapons systems used have large rounds and so for the most part, a round to the torso generally does the trick, the BAR is so far my favourite, because who doesn't want a rifle that can basically act as a sniper OR a full auto weapon with big boi rounds
Brilliant advice, hopefully Ill be slightly better at these types of games. Keep up the content man
Literally played this game for the first time the other day and I’m hooked. It’s incredible! It’s so rewarding and suppression is palpable.
Hell Let Loose, more like. One team puts hell into our team so we lose 3 rounds in a row.
the maneuvering is similar to Tarkov, so if you play that game you'll be fine playing this game. Just communicate your intentions with your squad mates often if they have mics and are willing and open.
Thanks for the tips man! Really enjoying this game so far. I like how different it is from everything else out there right now
I wish people actually played together tho, most of the squads I’ve been in still play this game like call of duty, no communication and no teamwork
Started playing this last week on ps5 absolutely fantastic game I love it.
@Thetacticalbrit
Thank you for this video.
These are some VERY solid tactical survivability tips. Good video!
I’ve always been aware of it, but combat readiness is something I suck at. I main medic, and I always rush to revive/bandage with morphine out rather than my rifle, and that’s what gets me killed every time. I cannot stress enough how important combat readiness is
Why things are seen, the 7 S’s
1) shape
2) shine
3) silhouette
4) sound
5) signature (thermal/nvg)
6) sudden movement
7) shadow
Avoid them for yourself, and watch out for them for others
Great tips! Been streaming this for about 2-3 months, but haven’t completely mastered it yet by any means. I’ll see how these tips affect my gameplay next week. 👍
i only partly agree to this point due to the fact that building up garrisons is the key to victory. u cant just sit around and check the area if u ignore command orders and dont move to get garrisons up ull loose
This game is amazing blows bf out of water. so much team work and detail more to then just shooting lo l it's like it makes you commicate and work with your squad, if ppl dislike this game it's because they don't get it and don't enjoy the depth of this game, it's really fun just give it time and actually watch some UA-cam videos 😀
Or it keeps booting you for @high ping”. Stop with the “if they don’t like it it must be this” no, the game runs like shit on my PS5. Do you like elden ring? That was harder than this game, and I love dit. Worked 1,000x better than this. I never heard of “high ping” until hell let loose bounced me 8 times in a row for it. F’ing joke.
@@obadiahplainman8897 that's really a you thing and might happen if you have slow internet/use wifi or live in an area that doesn't have nearby sever locations
Useful stuff, thanks!
Thank you for posting. Great information. Just started playing. It's a bit slow but a lot of fun.
The truth of the fact of the matter is that this video is seeing an influx of traffic thanks to the recent console release.
I was unsure of this game, then i ran into an enemy strong point from behind , took out an mg crew and about 8 infantry , then listened to my whole team scream happily in game chat while they stormed the objective .
I was sold after that
Video: "Move from position of safety to another position of safety"
Me: "Well...crap."
Foy is a go around map. You ll always have to take the long route covered by fences, tree lines, bumps of snow...
I just unlocked rifleman 3 and am a noob. I love that I have smoke now and can actually be slightly useful.
Very good video! I am brand new to HLL and suck.....so bad at it. LOL, but I am having a blast. I will not lie, it is so frustrating dying over and over and never even seeing an enemy. I will try your suggestions you made here. :) Thank you.
7:25 ptsd moment
My main problem with this game is that flanks take forever to complete and still some random dude can kill you with no warning.
And if you stick to your squad they WILL give away your position by firing at everything.... :-(
Play Post Scriptum
Damn i do literally everything you say in this video but im either getting killed by some rifleman whose in a random bush or mowed down by an MG whose in a random bush or somehow just always right where the enemy artilery is even when im fully separated from every single individual on my team
Don't go solo
The first tip everyone learns on day one is never run in an open field. Save yourself the long walk of shame by walking the hedge lines. Great inspiration for new content ideas 💡
I don’t mind the instant death or movement but it’s hard to get used to the respawn times!
I'm a very new player to HLL and I come from the MOHAA days so this game is a totally new beast to me. Thank you for your tips.
I used to love MOHAA. Good times.
Thanks im new to the game. And i will learn to do the things u said!
awesome vid! Hppe to see more like this in the future
:)))
Great, informative video. Thanks for sharing!!....
Thanks for these good hints
The main issue for me is just getting into a good area with enemies and stuff. I can usually hit my shots and hold my own in combat but I never actually get to fight because half the time I'm just getting killed by people I can't see from god knows how far away
Thanks for this!
Hey there! Are you still having fun with the game?
Of course all these tips will apply if the game actually runs smoothly
Great info. Ty
I always see people running to the front lines but the biggest mistake is the front is all around you and enemy's are really just waiting for you to make the first move.
Man I swear I run so much in this game…..I lost weight in real life 🏃♂️🎮🤷♂️
First time playing this and being a German farmer boy just trying to make it as a rifleman stationed in Sainte-Mère-Église.. There were Tommys in every... single... hedge.. *Vietnam flashbacks*
thanks for posting, very helpful :)
one of my personal rules is:
Do not fire until you are sure of your target. You may give your position away with nothing to show for it.
I played about 6 matches till now after buying the game this morning. I am just now starting to understand just wtf I’m supposed to do and how to use the map and classes.
Thank you as always! :)
Good solid advice :)
This and enlisted are my go to shooters. Enlisted when I feel like being anti social and hell let loose when I want realistic squad communication.
Lmao realistic? Play Post Scriptum or Squad u casual.
Great tips tnx!
Good video, I will saybi have 1 disagreement. Crouch running might make you smaller but also slower. So I only use it when it provides a real cover advantage, like next to a wall or hill. Otherwise I'm running or sprinting.
Good review bro.
Think before you fire. Only fire when a proper opportunity presents itself, no sense in revealing your position (or worse your squad's) for a slim chance at a hit
Would something to go along with the combat readiness be pre aiming?
I really struggle to suppress the reflex to pull the trigger as soon as I see the enemy, and I miss a lot, especially with the Garand and G43
I'm a new player to mil sims, and found this game way more beginner friendly than squad
thank you
Great vid, I use a lot of your tips in Insurgency Sandstorm
good content, thanks man, keep it coming
Downloading it now for ps plus!!!
Get a virtual aim point in the middle screen to boost lmg hip fire accuracy
The only thing this game is missing is being able to build your class. I just want to be a medic rifleman where I can choose my rifle
Love then advice...and then the TK random grenade throw like you're playing battlefield. lol

I love how there is no cue that you've hit an enemy. I've never played any games with mil sim elements and its so immersive not having those hit markers and little noises go of or any confirmation you've hit other than your own vision
You do hear when you headshot your opponent though, even for a long range kill.
Just tab, hit personal stats and see if your kill count increased
Communicate with your squadmates and cooperate.
Agreed makes the game much more fun and you will die less
And other mythical creatures that don't exist
Yes in order to be respected and be the best is by having your hud on all the time so you don't SHOOT YOUR GOD DAMN TEAMMATES
excellent
How you double zoom at 1:35 ? Was this a video edit or another set up? Thanks! from a newbie PC gamer
Shoot move and communicate.......if you know how to implement those tactics you will be very good in this game.
The anti tank role has too many rockets available. It's OP to use it as a mortar system.
As an AT player.. its currently 4 shots.. how many do you think is adequate?
@@ZombieWomb That's just with the bazooka ain't it? Pretty sure you only get 2 with the panzerschreck.
honestly nothing in this video helps even remotely.. i do it all and still get one shot killed by an unseen enemy from an unknown position. crouched motionless in the tree line leaning? instantly dead. carefully peeking a window on top floor of building? instantly dead. bounding from one cover position to the next? instantly dead. that segment where you were on the broken staircase in that house, i would have been shot and killed 12 times over if i was moving back and forth shooting at bushes 250m away like that.
It sounds like youre saying the garant and thomson don't kick/recoil as much.
Maybe less in comparison to mp40 and g43.
Good advice
