I'm and old guy and over the years had a several Pioneer units and always had good luck with them.

I put a 4x10 in the middle. I also replaced the rear 4x10 speakers with 6x9

I have an 84 myself that I’m slowly restoring and putting together.
Are there 4x10s in the doors? What’s under that vent? I have not looked.
