Car Shield is a scam. I was on the $140 per month plan when my air conditioning failed. The independent shop I usually go to said they no longer take ANY aftermarket warranties because it was taking forever for them to get paid. I found a Firestone that takes Car Shield and they promptly did the work. To my shock, Car Shield would not pay for it because the refrigerant hose sprung a lean on the rubber portion rather than the metal portion, and this little technicality was on the long list of things that are excluded from their coverage. Radio ads say that you'll never pay out of pocket again for a "covered repair." Send that $2k to me immediately please. What? You are under no obligation to do so? Hmmm, neither was carshield obligated to pay you for something they excluded from coverage. RIGHT?
Wait so $140/mo that makes it $1,680/yr, so every year you could put $1,500+ into your car and come out even or slightly ahead... In 10 years of that, you could put a fair amount down for a new car, if you didn't have any serious repairs to do on this one, and if you did, well it should be in good shape, putting $16,000+ into it. With this method all repairs are covered by the cash you save!
all extended warranties are scams, because you have to jump through too many hoops, not to mention deductibles. You're better off if you sock away the money you'd be paying for those warranties, in no time you'll have enough to pay for repairs down the road without the hassle.

Scott, thank you for your videos. We are now 61 and it is easy for us to be deceived. We watch your videos to learn and make better choices. Car Shield can pound sand. They are very deceptive. In fact, one thing we learned, using a different warranty company, is that even if “they claim they will pay,” they are often off the hook because so many parts are unavailable or on back order. We recently traded in a 2018 Sierra truck because the transmission was failing. Sure, the warranty company said, it’s covered. But they are no parts! So, after working with my mechanic, calling 4 transmission shops (in two states) and 4 GM dealers, we were told there is not only no parts, but there is no end in sight. Be aware folks. Instead, have a savings account. Put that $120 monthly payment into your savings account.
It pisses me off when they get move and TV stars to hawk their product. Are they too stupid to investigate or are they just interested in getting that check.
They did, it’s called capitalism. $10M is about 4% of their annual income. For me, that would be like a $1500 fine for deceiving THOUSANDS of customers.
CarShield is bad enough for customers, but shops hate them because they are extremely difficult to work for, and they insist shops use cheap or junkyard parts.. Most reputable shops won't deal with them.
In addition to the celebrity endorsers, and the bullshit coverage, let’s also call-out the various media avenues that allow car shield to advertise with them. For instance, I know I’ve seen their ads on Howard Stern
Thanks for standing up for creators and fighting the fair use legal battles. I GET you probably pay media insurance to cover thise suits but still, it goes a long way for smaller creators ❤

While it makes sense in a revenge fashion, when these things happen the higher ups and executives hardly ever pay the price despite being the ones responsible, and if they do they can afford it anyway, who actually suffers are the normal workers like you and me because the execs and higher ups won't give up their money and stocks and what not, they'll downsize, make people redundant, close or sell factories, offices, or warehouses and get the money that way. Until the executives are the ones who actually pay the price not only monetarily but criminally too there is no point in a 300% fine to the company.
if the fine really lowers the evaluation of a stock, than it also harms the execs. but yeah, that should, depending on what they did be criminally liable, and if it is, because they weren't careful enough, but should have found it, at least financially liable. @@marcofava

@@ashblossomandjoyoussprung.9917 Yeah i agree with you on that and it was exactly my point, those who make the policies and benefit from them the most hardly ever suffer, as far as removing themselves from this mortal coil it's not always a given, actually hardly ever since they can get high powered lawyers that will reduce any sentence they get to the bare minimum. They didn't get the paperwork, it wasn't filled out right, Blah blah blah 7 months of car being in the shop and back and forth with car shield he finally gave up and paid for it himself. They really sad thing is the reason a lot of people are falling for this scam is because of the celebrity endorsement. People trust these celebrities, they value their opinions on products and services and are getting ripped off.
Why, in God's name, do people trust celebrity endorsements? I don't get it!!!
They shouldn’t be giving the FTC a dime. They should be refunding every customer *EVERYTHING* they paid.
You do realize FTC settlements get distributed to the victims right?
They do not. FTC has indicated to us IN PERSON these fines go into the general fund of the US Treasury
@@ragmanintx direct from the FTC website "Whenever possible the FTC uses the money it collects from defendants to provide refunds to injured consumers and pay the related administrative costs. When a refund program is not feasible or there is money left over after the refund program is complete, the FTC sends unused funds to the U.S. Treasury or to co-plaintiffs, as required by the court and applicable law." "On average, the money sent to the U.S. Treasury after a refund program is complete accounts for less than five percent of the totals funds collected. In fact, over the last five years (2019-2023), the agency returned over $2 billion to consumers, while sending less than $36 million to the U.S. Treasury."
From the FTC.GOV website: Fines collected are distributed to the injured parties. If any is left over, a second round of distribution is done to find other injured parties. After that, money left over goes to the treasury. They aren't too clear on fines vs settlement funds. I suspect settlement funds go the the injured parties while fines go to the treasury.
@@KoboretaMiruku You do realize that you have no idea what you're talking about right?
You might want to sue them for sending you a scathing email LOL
Hopefully customers get a class action lawsuit going.
It pisses me off when they get move and TV stars to hawk their product. Are they too stupid to investigate or are they just interested in getting that check.
The spicy Scott victory lap video is a rare joy. You love to see it.
Thank you for taking the time to educating customers! 😉
Scott Schafer, taking the W and walking away unscathed
Lol, I realized your user name is KGB George Costanza.
And when any company spends all that money on airtime bills you know they don't have no money to pay the claims. Plain and simple.
.. so the government gets the money and the people that got scammed gets nothing...

DARLING THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN FINED MORE! PUTTING USED PARTS ON CARS OR REFURBISHED PARTS BUT THANK YOU
"Once again, We've Been Trying To Reach You About Your Car's Extended Warranty"
Ice Tea was told numerous times about CarShield being a cheesy company, but money ruled his decision.
The penalty is a slap on the hand. Just a cost of doing business, a business expense to be written off.
Hilarious, maybe they shoulda shielded themselves from the law
They did, it’s called capitalism. $10M is about 4% of their annual income. For me, that would be like a $1500 fine for deceiving THOUSANDS of customers.
how much is profit @@timetravl3r?

I don't buy no car warranty heck, I don't even want car insurance that seems like a scam. I'm thinking about going back to walking again.

Ten million is nothing to them. Absolutely nothing.

Great news, Scott! Well done standing your ground and what a surprise, CarShield is deceptive and scammy, just like you said 😂
CarShield is bad enough for customers, but shops hate them because they are extremely difficult to work for, and they insist shops use cheap or junkyard parts.. Most reputable shops won't deal with them.
They should be out of business and be penniless on the street.
UA-cam's algorithm suggested this video to me.
In addition to the celebrity endorsers, and the bullshit coverage, let’s also call-out the various media avenues that allow car shield to advertise with them. For instance, I know I’ve seen their ads on Howard Stern
His brain is long gone from TDS and the jab
That’s not exactly a reputable place
@@YouMissedBro "The jab" clearly shows who's brain is missing here....
Thanks for standing up for creators and fighting the fair use legal battles. I GET you probably pay media insurance to cover thise suits but still, it goes a long way for smaller creators ❤
I knew those carshield commercials were a bunch of hyperbole. They play on the big what-if scenario concerning your car breaking down. Also, they never helped even for minor car issues.
Glad you were vindicated, but now you should double check the disgraced Better Business Bureau .
NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!You should get a cut of the settlement.
At this point in life, I just expect almost anything endorsed by celebrities to be a complete scam.
Pay me millions of dollars and I'll call terds golden nuggets too.
Leaving my like and this comment to feed the UA-cam algorithm
The fact that they are genuinely legally deceptive is so funny 😭😭
Car shield doesnt have anything to do with the claim because "American auto shield" adjudicates their claims. They arent even trying lol
Keep going man. You rock. Take those scammers to courts
BOOM!
You probably hear this all the time, but, you're one of my favorite UA-camrs. I love the work you do to keep people informed.
if you ask me, fines for companies should be 300% of what they make in a year.
@@marcofava
@@marcofava Companies have also been known to dissolve themselves and get rid of assets when they face a significant enough fine.
The main benefit is more that the company is no longer able to do what they were doing. Honestly, I'd rather people involved go to prison than face a fine, because CEOs have proven that they'd rather pay enormous fines than go to prison.
Seriously, executives have a tendency to say "Whatever you want me to pay is cool, I'll pay it," and unalive themselves (or attempt to) when faced with prison time.
To this power and money men and women a fine is basically the price of a crime, and the time they serve in prison is but an opportunity to write some tell all book about how they really weren't at fault or they are misunderstood and keep the grift going.
What i'm saying is these fines should go directly against the personal assets of the policy makers any ill gotten money tracked down and returned to the victims with punitive damages tacked on, that i think would be fair, while the company under new management can be run better, normal folks do not lose their livelihood and the next direction team that comes along will be more incentivized to keep it on the up and up as they are on the hook for any wrongdoing, in my mind this would be fair, but that's just me...
And that's why no one who matters in terms of the regulatory and legal areas will ask you
I am SHOCKED that CarShield has been using deceptive advertising.
I bought CarShield and I also bought a bridge in New York. Now I can drive over my bridge toll free and not worry about my truck breaking down. Win Win!!

Imagine going through the hassle of becoming a lawyer, only to end up as a sad company legal bully that tries to deceive people.
The dude probably makes bank. Most people become lawyers for money. I doubt he gives a shit.
The company logo claim is seriously them grasping at straws.
